in short - you shouldnt

i am currently silver 1 on euw after failing gold promos 3 times, now trying to find my own little secret op pick. this is why i ask for feedback/discussion, anything i say could be totally wrong and i would like help with this, i am a silver ******!

we take press the attack because buy using leonas auto q auto we can proc it insanely fast, resulting in nice fast trades! the other runes are just different playstyles, i prefer the press the attack.

we also take resolve second do we can have demolish to actually get some plates as leona and unflinching is nice as i like to take alacrity so unflinching gives us our tenacity.
you can take inspiration second, going biscuits and minion dematerializer/magical footwear, or even domination second going with cheap shot/zombie ward + ultimate hunter.

starting with corrupting potion is nice because of leonas mana issues, but dorans blade/shield makes farming a lot easier

first back pickaxe, bramble or boots + rubygem/armour is the way to go. you want to rush towards bamis + tiamat as leonas waveclear is pretty weak without it, then you can either go titanic hydra or sunfireaegis/turbo chemtank depending on game.

after that abyssal mask and thornmail are probbaly the way to go, unless you dont need anti heal then take frozen heart or deadmans plate. abyssal mask is an underrated item in my opinion, it can amplify your sunfire damage, w blast damage and your auto attacks too, allowing you to do even more damage than you already do but obviosly dont take abyssal mask vs full ad teams though unless you are wanting to get spam pinged about it. knights vow and zekes convergence are nice buys to help your carrys out in the fights

EXPERIMENTAL
zhonyas hourglass and demonic embrace. leona has no ad scaling on her abilitys, stacking ad is rather useless. zhonyas and demonic allow you to tap into some ap scaling and they also are just great items. zhonyas active is a lifesaver as you should know, and demonic embrace is just some extra burn damage + the health goes towards titanic hydras ad passive.

when paired with a jungler who has good damage and/or can chain their cc with yours, leona top almost always results in free kills/flashes. let them know beforehand so they dont just write you off as 'leona top troll'. they dont have to camp you, but let them know that it is almost guaranteed free kill

i am almost certainly not qualified to talk about who is bad matchups, but vayne is a terrible one, teemo can stop your auto q auto with his blind, and there are some champs you just cant fight early. feedback much appreciated on this topic in particular! :)
