My gametag in league is robjob2500 (NA server). I'm just a simple gold 1 player who likes to play a variety of champions whenever I get bored. I'm by no means an expert/Huni but I figured I'd create a start guide for those who are interested in playing Lucian to the top lane (because when I first had the crazy idea, I didn't see a guide to help me)!

Lucian is definitely be one of my favorite champion in league. I mainly played him bot but recently started trying him out top. I've had a few successful games (7/8 wins) with him so far. Therefore, this guide is not perfect and I'm still refining this build everyday but feel free to comment on what you think should be added!! I (and everyone else) would love to hear it!

It's a common question that I get asked every time I take lock in Lucian top. Because WHY NOT!? If you like harassing your lane opponent, Lucian is amazing, especially in the early game. Get your lead from the beginning of the game. If not (or if you start to fall behind), you can just farm and become a threat later on. The only drawback is that you're team will have another damage dealer instead of a tank frontline but you'll need to trust your team in that case!

Pros

Good mobility/ability to kite
Like other marksman, has high burst of damage
Ranged/Good early game harass against top lane bruisers
Fun if you're bored and want to try something new!

Cons

Like other marksman, you're usually a priority target
If you start getting behind, it may be hard to catch back up
If the enemy jungler is smart, they'll start camping you

You should focus on grouping when your team is starting to group and focus down objectives. With a top Lucian, you can either help peel for your team and focus down the enemy team's front line. OR (and this is what I do), use Lucian's ult to zone the enemy's backline from their frontline and focus down the tanks ASAP. OR, as a third alternative, you with your maneuverability, you can poke the enemy team with your abilities to wear them down and string them around for your team to make the move.

But essentially, your role in team fights is to dish out as much damage (if not as much) as your ADC since your ADC should be the priority.

In your final build, you have QSS, BotRk, dash, exhuast and flash to give you the maneuverability to go in and out.
