Introduction

Hi... I'm really not gonna make you read all this nonsense, as it's pretty much irellevant. Well,i'm an average League player, searching for guides on this site. And I thought i could help some other people like me, who are also looking for "explicit" guides.

WHY TF LUX?!

Well, at least in low elo (up to high gold), Lux is pretty much freelo. She requiers the least level of skill, as you only need aim, and she's pretty op in Preseason, and, beliece it or not, having the great Thunderlord's Decree disappear is a good thing for Lux, as it encourages players to use their full combo. ( or maybe not, just my opinion.)

Runes

Now, time to be confused. I "briefly" explained the runesets on Lux, but now i'm getting into more detail. So basically the default rune-set for Lux is Sorcery/Domiantion. Again, if you feel just a teeny tiny bit of insecurity when diving into a game with no defence on this champ, feel completly free to go for Inspiration instead of Sorcery. The runes in the Inspiration tree you wanna go for are "Perfect Timing" and Magical Footwear or Cosmic Insight. The Magical Footwear prevents you from buying and then selling your boots, like most people do when the enemy Ahri goes in and bursts them. Cosmic Insight is that one rune that used to grant you that 5% CDr (anyone remeber ÏNTELLIGENCE"?) and it may help you have your ultimate just in time for a kill, or your zhonya's, because the 5% applies on all CDr (items, abilities, and summoner spells)
Let's get it straight with the keystones, because i can tell that when you saw Dark Harvest, your face froze in disbelief. So, you know how useless can one feel on Lux when they can't land a combo? Well, that's exactly where Dark Seal comes in to save the day. To burst people down, you screw Morello ( trust me ) and go for Lich Bane 1st item. The damage on your target, togehter with the passive, Dark Seal and Lich Bane will deal TONS of dmg.
Then I mentioned Aery. Aery is a support/dmg keystone, used nicely by ALL champions. Lux can benefit from it by dealing bonus dmg on an E or Q, and also use it to empower her W, ensuring that you can still be useful, even if you **** up early game and feed the LeBlanc, as it synergizes pretty well with Athen's or Ardent.
Last but not least in the rune department, we have the ageal question - Scorch/Waterwalking/Gathering Storm?? I personally use Gathering Storm, for scaling AP, as i really miss the scaling AP blues. BUT, if you prefer a Deathfire Touch kinda thing, you should totally go for Scorch, as it is fashioned all over the globe by pro's. Also, if you fancy ganking other lanes a lot ( with your ult ), Waterwalking can do the trick for you.

Items

When it comes to items, everything is pretty much explained to you in the item build, but i'll run over the various situations when you gotta build offensive, defensive, and when to go Mejai's or support items.
First of all, you got the offensive path, the definition of burst. Lux must always have burst items to complement her Q-E-R combo. but you shouldn't rush luden's or ranbadon's 2nd item. If your enemy is an AP burst, I would recommend a defensive item, to help you survive the burst, and also deal some more dmg, such as Liandry;s Torment.
Second of all, a support item can be considered early on, as a first back item, to gain a gold advantage, if you feel like the enemy will be hard to in the laning phaase. Don't worry about wasting a spot where a pen item would come in, as you can sell it later, if it becomes useless. Though the vision Frost Queen's Claim can get you is pretty nice in the mid-late game.
Also, when buing boots, if the enemy ad keeps taking you down, consider buying an early zhonya's and ninja tabi (armor boots), because they will mitigate a lot of the damage that an ad champion can put out. If this happens to you from the AP carry of the enemy team, go for merc treads, as they will not only grant you some sweet MR, but they will also give you some tenacity (resistance towards hard CC), that makes for a great "barrier" against burst mages, when combined with Athen's or Banshee's.

Skill Sequence

The skill sequence is also explained throughly in the segment above, but let's run it through again.
You should always start with E, as the primary source of poke and the easiest to land ability that Lux has. Then, take a point in Q when laning against immoble or low mobility champions (Xerath, Orianna, Cassiopeia), and W against Zed, Talon, Katarina, Leblanc and even Akali(to cut it short, assassins).
Don't forget that, when you're laning against the said ***sassins, you should have at least 2 points in W by level 6, to be safer, and paired with the "Perfect Timing" rune we talked about before, it makes for a burst proof Lux.
The maxing skill sequence should in general be (organized by priority) R-E-Q-W, but again, having said assassins as opponents, maxing W second will serve you well.

Spells

Most of the time, you can't go wrong with Flash/Ignite, because it helps your burst and provides you with an escape (you all know what the flash is used for), but having Barrier against said assassins or even Cleanse or Ghost, in higher elo, is always an option to keep in mind.

Matchups

There isn't much to say here, but i'll try to say things as quickly as possible.

1.BANS - you need to ban champs that are hard for you to deal with, as lux doesn't really have counters. My bans are usually on other lanes, such as Cho'Gath, Nasus, even Draven. If you MUST use advice from me, which isn't at all recommended in this department, ban Talon or Zed, maybe even Kat and Akali, but the last two can be denied with the usage of Dark Seal.

2.IN-GAME MATCHUP - if you get matched against some tough counter to your playstyle, try to poke with E, don't go beyond the half of your map, unless grouped with your jungler, support or someone else, and try to sneak into the river and place wards - you'll really thank me for it. Also , if you start losing the lane, trying to pick up kills from roaming bot can help out a lot.
- if your match-up is easy, going dark seal right after doran's might work out really nicely for you. Keep in mind that easy match-up doesn't mean you can just all-in them to get killed, or ganked and killed. It means you'll have a far easier time doing what you would do in any other game.

Combos, Tips and Tricks

On Lux, there aren't many combos to know, or not many to use, but there are a few tips and tricks you might wanna know, and i'm gonna share with you the ones I know. If you got others, please let me know :)
1. Q-AA-E-AA - basic laning phase trade. Use when you land Q, and try doing so from behind a minion.
2.Q-E-R - Lux's main burst combo, known by all Lux players.
3. Q-R - a bit less effective when you don't have enough dmg, and you need luck for this one to actually work. It works best when you're being recklessly chased, or when your targets are already immobilized. As soon as you press your Q, you use your R, because your Q will land for sure, when used properly, or you will surely burn a flash while doing it.

Now, for the tips and tricks.
1. R-flash - some of you may know, but when Lux is casting her ultimate, she can't use any summoner spell, but you can use that in your advantage. Using flash when ulting gets you an INSTANT escape from the fight, and you have also dealt the damage you needed to deal, after using all your abilities. Don't rush that flash, as you might need it right after you used it. It is best used when in the Barren Pit (where Baron spawms), and you need to get away. You press your R in the direction of the enemy's gathering, and flash while your ult is channeling.
2. Just learn number 1 and you'll be fine :p

Farming

Yep, farming. Try last-hitting and not using so much mana when you clear minions. A good way to save mana in lane is to make sure you hit minions too with the abilities you target enemies with.Another useful tip is to do your best in not getting your Q baited. Remember, E is always the best way to poke.

Conclusion

Okay, this kinda wraps it up. I hope you found this guide somewhat helpful. *now comes the annoying finishing lines you saw a billion times before* If you liked the guide I made, give it a thumbs up, and if you disliked it, feel free to downvote it. Comment if you want, so I know how to fix and improve it. Thanks for checking it out guys. Have a great [insert time of reading here].And sorry for no images btw...
