Master Yasuo Guide - From LEC Coach Hidon

By Hidon1
Who is Hidon?
Hello, my name is Jonas and I am a 24 year old former LEC coach for Fnatic & Giantx, together with that I am a Challenger jungler who has turned to content creation for his next adventure in life.

I am truly passionate about coaching and seeing others get better at what they have set their mind to, it's such a giving work.
I love educating and seeing other people achieve their dreams no matter how big or small it is and hopefully this guide can help put you in the right place to move forward with your goal.
Unranked - Master Yasuo Challenge
I decided to do a challenge that would truly challenge me and force me out of my comfort zone.
I have always wanted to gain mastery over Yasuo & it has always been a goal of mine.

I started in Bronze and had to walk the full way to master, it was very challenging and I ALWAYS struggled in teamfights as it never came to me naturally, I had to study the best Yasuo players in the world to understand how to become better at my biggest weakness (Teamfighting)

Within this challenge I show everyone how to reach their goals through having the discipline & right structure.

In this challenge I coached myself & got coached from Tempest & Brohan, this opened my eyes to some combos/itemazation that I did not know.

There was moments of serious doubts when I was playing and if I could actually complete it, but when things get hard you get harder.
One thing that truly helped me was to "Acknowledge the doubts but do not react to it"
Coaching & Whop
I am a professional strategical/positional coach & I now coach individuals who wants to reach their own goals.

I highly recommend you to check out my WHOP
Inside of this website you find the best climbing courses & community on the planet, you get to share a space with likeminded people that wants to improve as badly as yourself.

Covering everything you need to know to get better at the game.
Such as
- Mindset & Mentality
- Fundamentals
- Mid game
- Teamfighting
- Micro & getting better at your champion
- Coaching vods with everything from gold to professional players
Challenge Completed
I was dealing with client shutting down on me & getting blue screen of death every single day I was streaming but I just kept going & kept getting better.

I was moments I wanted to stop the challenge but it's like that with everything hard, there will be moments of doubt but if you stick through them, on the other end is success.

Yasuo Account

Why no TP?
I truly believe that TP is not mandatory on Yasuo in any match up, not having / just takes so much pressure away from your laning phase which I am not willing to give up.

The only downside to not having is that you must always be mindful about taking the right bases in lane and how you move the map in mid game, you have to move correctly from side to mid in order to be a part of the game & the important teamfights!
Laning phase
When it comes to laning with it is by far the most important part of the game, if you can't lane you can't play.

I have countless times managed to solo win the whole game just from lane knowledge.
You have to understand that this champion thrives his best in lane and how you manage your wave is crucial.
Majority of the time try to have the wave on your side giving you a longer lane to fight & navigate in.

You have to learn a basic fundamental called freezing, freezing correctly gives you such a huge advantage as Yasuo.
Mid Game Guidebook
When it comes to mid game I have a very simple concept that I have invented to make it simple for everyone to plan & play the mid game instead of just running around and hoping for the best.
I truly believe this concept can be appllied in all elos and all it takes is practice and intention!

The Mid Game Guidebook goes as followes
1) Who has tempo (meaning who is first on the map)
Through this I identify if I need to retake or can go straight to playing

2) What are we playing for?
Example: Dragon

3) What wave are we playing from?
Example: The next wave coming out of base

4) What lane are we playing through?
Example: Mid lane

Through this I would then make a plan making it so that I am not just running around the map like a headless chicken hoping to win the game.
The plan would go: "I will do 1 wave bot into moving mid on the next wave and controlling dragon area + fight that mid wave if they contest"
Teamfighting
Teamfighting with is the hardest part of the game, every teamfight looks different and requires you to have a big sample size to let the unconscious mind takeover and pilot it for you.

Here are some tips to help you make the right choices
1) Think about how you want to enter the teamfight before the fight has started
Example: ult / hook / ult

2) Learn from the best.
I was actually stuck in gold/platinum for 2 weeks or so, I could not navigate teamfights good enough even with the big lane leads I alwasy got.
What I did to fix this was learning from the best, Pzzang / Tempest & Brohan both coached me and it opened my eyes to how an OTP navigates the champion!

3) Trial & Error
Make sure you keep trying and keep testing with the new tools you learn from both playing & watching the best.
When you make mistakes its okay, important that you do not shy away from testing your limits and understanding what your champion is capable of doing, if you don't try you will never know.
I lost a lot of games because of "testing limits" but in return I won them later down the line from simply just becoming a much better teamfighter.

4) Reflect
Reflect on why you are winning/lossing teamfights, if you skip this step you will lose out on so much potential, if you struggle with teamfighting like I did you have to reflect and understand the WHY, if you don't understand the why you cant change it.
Plaing from behind?
When behind because of bad laning/unlucky factors happening around you, the best solution is going side and aiming to destory towers until you have caught up through gold & EXP

If you join fights from behind you will most likely just end up falling more behind.

Tier 1 Towers: 300g
Tier 2 Towers: 700g
Tier 3 Towers: 400g

Do not waste your tempo on Tier 3 towers, but if you can collect a couple of waves and tier 2 you are golden.
How To Improve?
Throughout this whole process I kept a spreadsheet that I use with all my student.

This spreadsheet documented my whole process and how I managed to improve and stick through to the end.
Mindset in SoloQ
“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better."

SoloQ is a place of extreme toxicity & a great test of your patience.
If you go into it with the wrong mindset it will eat you alive, when it comes to soloq my approach & rules are very simple.

You play for your own improvement and communicate to make your teammates better.

THE 3 GOLDEN RULES
1) Mute everyones chat from the start of the game
As in chat very rarely people will say anything worth the time and focus to read.

2) Communicate how I want to play & if my wave states are good to set up a play around my lane

3) Communicate with chat/pings how I want to play the map as I do not expect anything from my team only myself, if they follow great, if they dont follow then I tried my best.

The victim mindset will only leave you destoryed and focused on the wrong things.
