Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
She will dominate you early, avoid her at all costs. You absolutely dumpster her later on in the game so do your best to survive early.
Rengar
If there is a bush nearby then you will get destroyed. You might have a chance if there isn't a bush and he has 0 stack but you should avoid fighting him early. make sure to ward and build defensively so you don't get one shot. Also, he will most likely look to invade you early in the game so make sure you path away from him or ward effectively.
Udyr
If he gets his hands on you then you will die. Don't fight him early. You outscale him in teamfights VERY hard, just survive early.
Nidalee
She will steal your camps quickly and if she lands her spear then you will lose and die. I didn't rate her higher because her spears are relatively easy to dodge especially with shyvana's w.
Elise
If you catch her using her abilities on camps then you could fight her but if not then its safer not to. You don't want to be fighting the enemy jungler early as ap shyvana. You outscale her in teamfights VERY hard, just don't mess up early.
Kha'Zix
if you have dark harvest then it's better not to fight him unless he is low. If he uses his abilities on camps then you could go for a fight, he will underestimate your on hit damage if you manage to land your e.
Kindred
If you manage to get in melee range of her by hiding in a bush and landing your e then you will deal a lot of damage to her. if she catches you using all your abilities on your camps then run and don't fight her. She will honestly just kite you out so it's best to avoid her. Her ult will be a problem later, you can potentially kill them all after her ult ends. Adc isn't really good right now so she shouldn't be a problem later unless she is fed.
Graves
This guy will dominate the early game and will most likely try to invade you. Don't fight early at all as he can kite you easily, ESPECIALLY with phase rush.
Hecarim
This champion is really broken right now. You could beat him if he already used his w and e on a camp, but the amount of extra damage he gets from his passive, phase rush and ghost make him very stupidly strong. He can also gank way more then you and scale decently well while being healthy in the jungle. Personally I would just ban him, and if you don't then dont even fight him early and do your best to match his pressure.
Gragas
Gragas isn't that good in the meta. The best he could do is maybe out gank you, but your mid and late game powerspike will make him quickly irrelevant without his ult.
Fiddlesticks
Fiddlesticks basically wants to do the same things shyvana wants to do. He wants to focus on farming early and then ganking and carrying teamfights after lvl 6. Out of the two of you early on, you beat him in terms of strength and even in the late game. Watch out for his ultimate, always be cautious and ward the fog of war.
Lillia
Lilia is really annoying to play against. Her ganks and stick potential are really strong, and you will not even be able to get in auto attack range of her and have a really hard time landing your E's. Do your best to secure objectives and get your team ahead so that she won't be as annoying later on.
Lee Sin
He is at his strongest in the early game. The best you could do is outfarm him and maybe get some free ganks off, so you can get to that point of the game where you outscale him. If he isn't proactive early then he has done nothing useful for his team and will become quickly useless.
Master Yi
Yi wants to do the same things you do, generally be more farm focused early and gank after 6. Don't really fight him early. If your team has cc then your burst will make him die quickly late game. You will have a better chance if you take more objectives from him and counter his gank attempts.
Nocturne
He wins early dueling. It is very important to communicate to your team when fighting against a nocturne. He can one shot any squishy in just a fraction of a second. Try to stay together if possible. He is squishy so he dies quickly.
Rammus
Generally a rammus wants to do his best to gank early game. If you counter jungle him and take all his camps, you will out number him in gold, giving you the opportunity to carry the mid game with your E damage.
Shaco
Buy control wards and red trinkets against him to counter him and his boxes. If he lays down a box and its damaging you then smite it to get rid of it, giving you a chance to survive or fight back. The fake shaco takes more damage then real one. You also outscale him.
Trundle
He isn't really difficult. He can beat you early, but the goal isn't really to kill him, just outscale him. He can't catch you either because of your w movement speed. As long as you farm more then him and don't duel him early, you already win as soon as you get to the mid game.
Vi
She is a very good dueler early in the game. Don't fight her. She also has really good lvl 6 ganks. Do your best to outfarm her and look for free ganks if the opportunity arises, as well as objectives. If she ults you and your team is nearby, ult towards your team and away from the enemy team. That way her ult will put her in an unfavorable position, giving your team a chance to kill her quiclkly before Vi's team can respond.
Warwick
He wants to gank people early and he isn't that good of a farmer until he gets sunfire or the tiamat active item.
He will attempt to use his early pressure to sneak objectives, but you should be fine if you ward. You can beat him at lvl 6 if you have a good amount of items.
Xin Zhao
The main threat he has is his early dueling and ganking power. After 20 minutes he will fall of very hard. He will most likely leave a lot of his camps open so you can get ahead of him if you take them.
Olaf
If somebody picks olaf then they want to do their best to carry the game early. He will be even in farm, have more objective pressure, and be able to kill you in an invade. If you know where he is going to start then path away from him to give you the best chance of surviving early and making it to the mid game. The ultimate goal is to tell your teammates where he will be and making it to 20 minutes when he will get outscaled.
Amumu
if amumu weren't the most broken jungler in the game right now then he would be a minor threat. If you want to kill him then do it before he gets Bami Cinder. If you do a good job of farming you can be a threat to his backline. Avoid dueling him as he will **** you up in melee unless you are decently fed.
Dr. Mundo
Dr. Mundo is becoming more popular as a jungler now that tanks are currently broken in the meta. He is also a very good magic resist tank. You don't beat him at any stage of the game unless you are very fed, even then he would still probably mop the floor with you. Avoid fighting him early as he has an AD steroid on his e that makes him win duels easily.
Talon
If the enemy has a Talon mid then you have to watch out for it. It will be pretty hard to play the game because a lot of Talon and Qiyana players love roaming your jungle and will try to find you and kill you. This is especially likely to happen when your on your second buff in the beginning of the game.
Ivern
Not that big of a threat, you can freely invade his camps but you still need to lookout to see if his laners are missing, as it can be an indicator that they are coming to kill you, especially if it's an assassin mid.
Viego
He will **** you up in a 1v1. If he is in a teamfight he should be the first priority target because he can get so many resets off kills. Don't try to duel him unless you are decently fed.
Yasuo
Tell your Yasuo teammate to ult if you decide to go for a multi-man ultimate.
It is important to type to him in chat that your ultimate is a knockup and for him to get ready. Ping him and your ultimate. If both of you land your abilities on multiple people the game will be a win.
Orianna
If she lands an ult on multiple people, ult in and finish the rest of them off. The enemy team will be obliterated.
Azir
If the azir is good he will make great plays with his ult knockup. It will set you up for a great ultimate and e shots on the enemy team.
Amumu
Amumu ult has been buffed so it is now a stun. If he lands a good ultimate this will allow you to land your fireballs on multiple people, the teamfight will most likely be a win.
Malphite
If he lands one good multi-man malphite ultimate then the game will be over, the damage after you ult in and E will destroy them all

It has now been quite some time since season 11 has officially started. Many different people have been out discovering new builds for Shyvana as many different items get nerfed and buffed. For the AP Bruiser Shyvana build, there is a combination that is quite strong and really competes well with the AD variation of Shyvana. The build is:
The boots you will be going mainly are the Sorcerer's Shoes, but depending on who you are facing you can go Plated Steelcaps into heavy AD and auto attackers or Mercury's Treads against Heavy AP teams or teams with a lot of CC. Alternatively, you could also go Ionian Boots of Lucidity instead of sorcerers if you prefer ability haste in exchange for the magic penetration.
As always, you want to rush Nashor's Tooth first because attack speed is very important on Shyvana. The attack speed allows you to get your ultimate quicker as well as farm really fast. Nashor's also makes you a pretty good fighter so that you can matchup against other fighter champions that want to duel you for extended fights.
Next item is Iceborn Gauntlet. This item is pretty good because it gives you the tank stats as well as the utility you need on a bruiser. It also makes you get a lot more health for every legendary item you complete, which you really need if you are going to frontline as AP Bruiser Shyvana. Another reason this item is good is because it is rather cheap at 2800 gold as of patch 11.3.
The next items that you go are your choice of either Zhonya's Hourglass or Cosmic Drive. It is all preference. If the enemy team has more AD or you want to make plays and stall for your team to follow up then go for Zhonya's Hourglass. You can go Cosmic Drive if you prefer to deal a bit more damage and fight tankier targets better. Most of the time you will probably get Zhonya's Hourglass first because it is the safer option and is never a bad buy.
The last item is the Void Staff. This item will make your base damages pop off and once you complete it your damage will be pretty nuts on your fireballs and your ultimate.
Early Game
In the early game you usually want to start in the bot lane to get that bot lane leash. If you are against an early game jungler or a jungler that wants to invade you then I can suggest to start with a top lane leash instead. By doing this you prevent the enemy jungler from being able to kill you, as invading junglers usually start wherever their bot lane is and path to your next buff. Always do a full clear, you can skip gromp (If starting red) or krugs (if starting blue) if scuttle just spawned and you want to make sure you secure the scuttle. After you take it you can walk back and take the last camp that you skipped. Always build attack speed after your first back, and a control ward. Look for possible chances to take dragon. You take dragon rather quickly on Shyvana by yourself, just make sure that you place a control ward and leave quickly if you notice enemy laners are rotating and gone missing.
If there is a good and free gank available, finish whatever camp you are clearing and go directly over there and gank. It doesn't matter if there is a free scuttle to take, if a gank is free then both you and your laner will become ahead. Don't forget that killing gromp gives you a lot of fury, so if you want to get your ult for an upcoming gank or fight, then do gromp!
One of Shyvana's Strengths is her ability to clear get objectives rather quickly. If it is safe to do so, do rift heralds and place them after an enemy laner has died. A good rift herald is one where the tower is already down by two plates. Towers become tankier the less plates they have available so you usually dont want to place a herald when the tower is at full health. If you take first tower you will be at a massive advantage over anyone else, as the gold it gives if you kill it is equivalent to 2 champion kills.
DARK SEAL IS PRETTY OP RIGHT NOW!!!!
Buying a dark seal early is 100% worth it. You can get up to 65 AP from just a 350 gold item if your dark seal is fully stacked. If your dark seal is decently stacked and you are ahead then you can even buy Magi's to boost your lead even further. Buy this item, as there is never a situation where it isn't good!!!
Mid and Late Game
During the Mid and Late Game you want to be looking for big engages with your ultimate. Always provide vision to your team before a big objective spawns so that your team can have the vision advantage, and have a chance to ambush the enemy team while hiding in a bush. You want to hit as many people with your e to increase the damage output. If you are the only frontline for your team then avoid using your dragon form to poke them unless they are already low. Tell your team you want to engage with your ultimate by pinging that your ult is ready. A lot of times teams don't follow up because they don't know your plans. An example is telling your yasuo that your ult is a knockup, tell him to use it by pinging your ult and then pinging him. If you and your team communicate how to play fights out then you will have a better chance of winning the teamfight and the game.
About The AP One Shot Build
The classic AP Shyvana One Shot build is stronger than ever before in Season 11! I guarantee that the enemy team will call your champion broken if you manage to pop off and get a lot of kills with this build. As with the AP bruiser build mentioned above, the AP one shot build always starts with Nashor's Tooth rush first. It allows you to duel people in human form pretty well, get dragon forms faster, and increase your clear speed drastically. After you finish that then buy Night Harvester ASAP. This item is pretty ridiculous and make your e's REALLY STRONG. Even in human form, if the Night Harvester item effect is off cooldown on an enemy champion, your human e will deal really unexpected damage. It actually makes you a good threat and your human form actually useful. The rest of the items consist of Rabadon's Deathcap for huge burst and the last item is optional, build Void Staff for more penetration or Zhonya's Hourglass for survivability. Overall I believe Shyvana is even stronger in season 11 then she is last season. This may change as items get nerfed but so far in the preseason Shyvana is really strong. Enjoy one shotting everyone from a whole screen away and enjoy your enemies crying for AP Shyvana nerfs in all chat. Have fun!
Conclusion
I hope you guys like my build, and I would really love it if you try it out. I will also love to hear what kind of new builds you are running in season 11. I wish you guys the best of look in season 11!
