Pantheon Support

Introduction
Hi guys I thought I would share my current build and thoughts on pantheon in the support role.
-Sandytrain

*10/17/23 Current Emerald Build

*2/8/22 Updated Build on what I think is the best build path for Pantheon right now.
Plus/Cons
~Pros
-Build scales great into all parts of the game
-Build focuses on bursting
-Very fun to play
-Carry potential
-Very Mobile

Cons
-Very reliant on E for engages. E has long CD.
-Squishy
Abilities
*Note current build relies on hit and run tactics. Pantheon is not a tank. Jump in and deal your damage and get out. Wait for E to come of CD and go jump back in. Rinse and repeat.



Start W first for stun. Don't face charge enemy level 1 if they have counter engage. For example if you jump a Morgana and then she stuns you after. That being said you should still win level 1 fights with your ADC if they try to cheese.

Level 2 is a tossup between Q or E. Q for damage and if you can get out without dieing. Take E if you are going to get stunned, hooked, grabbed, or cced when you jump in. Take the damage with E so your adc can attack them. Always pop E with 5 stacks if you do this.
Rest of the levels are pretty standard. Max Q first and then E second.


~Q Ability
The bread and butter of Pantheon. Deals massive damage when empowered and come off CD quickly.


~W Ability
The engage ability. I would recommend setting a key bind to target champions only toggle. Otherwise it is going target minions more times than champions. It can be better to not use this ability right away and wait for an opponents flash before W to them.


~E Ability
The shield ability. Will block damage from opponents directly in front of shield. Can block damage from Karthus ult and Teemo mushrooms. Will not block damage from angled attacks or attacks behind pantheon. Pantheon is very squish. This build tries to offer options to combat this. Do not to engage without your E. Also it may be better to hold off using E until the very last damage that would kill Pantheon. Great for Baits.


For the ult it is mostly a tool for traversing the map and helping teammates in battles or defending turrets. As a support this is useful for backing to base and then ulting into lane when the enemy is trying to get plating.


-Ulting lone ADCs
Ult and then ideally get a max q off and then w. Standard is W then, three strike, Q, Auto, 5 stack E. If your going to be focus then ult and immidiatly 5 stack E.

~Ulting to save tower
Make sure there is enough health left in the tower to ult to it so you just do not get steamrolled as soon as you land. If multiple enemies are present it is better to get a max E off as soon as you land. Do not try this mid or late game vs fed or multiple opponets.
Items
The power of this build relies on constant backs for long swords and wards. Long swords are cheap and will keep you relevant throughtout the game. Because you will be constantly placing wards and backing this also makes longswords ideal. Almost every back you should be able to pick up a longsword. The exceptions are when finishing items or double backing for wards.

Also you are support. People will go crazy to get the kill on because you are playing pantheon. Its very easy to bait the enemy into diving to get the kill on you only for them to overcommit and get cleaned up by your adc. You may die but it probably cost the enemy two ults, a flash, and an overcommitment that will feed your carries. If your singular death leads to an Ace for your team then it might be worth.



Damage spike for pantheon. Always get this first. Makes early fights always winnable.


This item will help you land you stuns more reliably and may let you escape bad situations. But there will still be a ton of champions faster than you with regular boots. Also you probably wont notice the slow resistance as it does barely anything. But it is still better than regular boots.

When this item works it is amazing on pantheon. Still somewhat bugged, doesnt always trigger on assists.


This item provides anti-heal and armor pen and crit! Your damage will be relevant towards tanks. And cut back on the healing. Does not mean you can solo a full health tank. You will still be under leveled and lacking.

This item is kinda self explanitory. If shields are a problem the pick this item. If not then skip it.
Im Dying!
If your dieing a lot, there are a couples of options. Remember this is a glass cannon build.


Q# Enemy blew everything on me and I died
A# Was your team there to clean up? Pantheon is good at baiting the enemy into overcommiting but it only works when your allies can be in position to clean up.


Q# You Engaged while you E was on CD.
A# This is usually a death sentence.


Q# Teams flaming me for not engaging in team fights when my E is on CD
A# Your team is dumb. You will die in fights without your E.


Q# My ADC just watches as a die.
A# You probably engaged too far away from your adc for them to follow up. But it could be your adc just is not good. Play for yourself. Dont let your adc troll you into playing poorly. Play the early levels in lane then look for oppertunities to roam. Pantheon loves to roam. Just dont forget about your adc.


Q# I am dieing while typing/raging at other players.
A# There is a mute player option by pressing tab. Just mute them and do not engage. Report them after.


Q# I am just being deleted in late game teamfights
A# Always fight with a full healthbar. You constant backs for wards should make sure of that. Late game it can be better to save your W to peel the carry than to engage.
