Intro
During the laning phase I play fairly passive and focus on last hitting minions and using my Q to constantly poke the enemy champion when possible. I take a point in pool at level 2 in case the enemy jungle decides to gank mid early and also to counter the enemy champion deciding to go balls deep and use their entire combo with flash/ignite. I tend to not use my E early game that much as it drains a lot of health and your Q doesn't heal you for that much yet. Once you get your core items like hextech/Will of the Ancients or spirit visage it is easier to spam your E to farm and harass as your heal will be healing you for ridiculous amounts. Once I hit 6 I try to find an opportunity to go all in with my full combo. Making sure to have 4 stacks from E, Go in with R -> E -> Q follow them using Q when up, followed by ignite if needed to finish them off. If the jungle isn't near or you feel confident, tower dive them and use your pool to escape safely.
When team fights come around you should be fairly tanky. Before engaging with your team try to have 4 stacks from E. You should try to optimize your ult so that it hits as many champions as possible since it increases the damage they take. Follow the combo of spamming your E for AoE damage on the enemy team and using your Q on the squishy champions. I personally try to jump on the enemy ADC in the back line and use my combo on them and burst them down. However the AP mid is another main focus of mine in a team fight depending on who is more fed/ who is more powerful in team fights. Pool should never be used to engage a fight or in the start of a fight. It should be saved to escape the fight if losing, if you are about to die in a fight/ dodge an ulti like a Leona stun or something game changing, or if they start to retreat and your team decides to chase them you can use your pool to slow down an enemy champion if you are close enough, but remember this gets rid of your escape mechanism.
