Not Updated For Current Season
This guide has not yet been updated for the current season. Please keep this in mind while reading. You can see the most recently updated guides on the browse guides page
Most of the time you won't see it during your game. But when you do, he will come with 100 meep powerspike and two-shot you.
Ignoring that, he's squishy, hook him before he gets to escape in his E and he'll be forced to ult or die.
Blitzcrank
Pre 6 dodge his Q and you'll be fine. If he lands it wait till he knocks you up before using E to escape.
Post 6 if he lands a hook on you, you're probably going to die, since he will silence you with R.
Best to take Aftershock.
Karma
If she's not Karma Top Tank, just buy Serpent's and Executioner's lol. Get some speed with Youmuu's and Prowler's to match her speed and range and kill her.
Nami
Pre 6 this champ is a joke to you. Whenever you're going to throw a Q do it from a bush or oov so she'll have a harder time landing a counter Q on you. You can focus her instead of the ADC so she's forced to waste her W on herself.
Nautilus
You have two options here: 1. Wait for him to land a Q on you, E backwards and Q him into tower range. Or 2. Wait till he engages on the ADC and Q him backwards.
Either way hooking this guy or his ADC does nothing in laning phase, you have to wait for him to engage first.
Best to take Aftershock.
Sett
Pre 6 ou can only hook him if he wasted E, otherwise you'll die.
Post 6 wait for him to R on your team and hook him away.
You can predict his W and hook him out of position if he's going to land it on your ADC.
Watch out for his super strong dives.
Shen
In the remote scenario where someone decided to play Support Shen, it's probably going to be River Shen, so you can take out your gold card and play River Pyke.
Yuumi
This matchup is a joke. I only out it at level 2 because of her strong heals and possibility to get on top of a fed bruiser.
Get close with W, hook and E backwards and they'll both die most of the time, she can't do nothing to stop it in the early game.
If she got down from the ADC, try to bait a hook at Yuumi but instead throw it at the ADC so you catch her mid W, dead 100%.
Alistar
Ok Alistar can be very tough, but if you follow the same steps as for Nautilus and just don't engage on him, you'll be fine most of the times.
NEVER hook him or he will full combo the ADC and you'll get flamed to death.
Best to take Aftershock.
Galio
Wait for him to E and then use your E backwards and hook him into your tower.
Don't try to melee hook him or he will W and insta cancel it and perma stun you to death.
You could take Aftershock.
Janna
The only reason I've put Janna into level 3 difficulty is because of her R.
You can E on top of her and if you see she is planning to Q you can either use W to dodge it or Flash/Prowler's behind her to land the stun.
Post 6 just don't engage anywhere near her, she'll mess up your entire combo with one button.
Leona
This matchup is personal preference. If you know how to play it out this can even be a level 1 difficulty.
All Leona players go berserk once they reach level 2, so you can start E level 1 to guarantee you have it if you don't get level 2 first.
Everytime she E's on you, just E backwards and she'll come with you and also be stunned, then just Q her into tower and she'll be dead.
You can take Aftershock if you have problems with her.
Maokai
Maokai is a joke of a champion. All he does is staying AFK in a bush waiting to Flash W on you if you get any close.
Just perma ward bushes so you have vision of him and his traps.
Same as Blitcrank, if he engages on you wait for him to use Q so it doesn't cancel your E.
Rakan
Now this is where the problems begin. This **********er right here can either stomp you in lane and deny you from playing or be completely useless, there's no in-between.
A good Rakan knows you're going to E when he engages with W, so he's gonna R first, be aware of it.
Hooking this guy does absolutely nothing, so just don't.
If he's good he's gonna E to his ADC if you're aiming for him, or W you while you're locked in Q animation, so do it from bushes.
Thresh
Same as Rakan, he can either deny your entire existence or do nothing at all.
Your only option for winning against a Thresh as Pyke is to either play safe and peel your ADC when he engages, or bait out his runes and abilities and go full monkey on him in the early game.
Xerath
Mana is not a problem for him.
Levels 1-3 he will poke you out of lane and once he gets Lost Chapter there's nothing more you can do.
His cooldowns in the early game are pretty long, so play around that.
Akshan
If he picked Akshan ADC he's either trolling or an OTP tryharding.
If he E's on you, use your E on him as soon as possible to stop him because that **** does a ton of damage.
You can't kill him level 1 from bush due to his passive, and he's very strong at level 2. But if you play around his high early cooldowns you can win.
Ezreal
There's two possibilities here:
1. You deny him completely from playing the wave, or 2. He does it to you
Go melee range on him and channel your hook, he will be forced to E away, but don't throw your Q so you get half the mana back.
Your Q cooldown is faster than his E, so after you bait it zone him out of the wave so he can't use his passive and once he gets close hook him and kill him.
Amumu
If you E backwards as he Q's you it will not matter, he will have a second charge and follow you anyways.
Braum
He can jump to the ADC and shield him if you try to hook him, and then he will Q you back and you will be slowed and the ADC will apply Braum's passive and stun you and you will die.
Lulu
This piece of garbage champion will not only block your ultimate by healing anyone with her ult, but at the same time she will knock you up and then you will be turned into a cute frog and murdered mercilessly.
Pantheon
**** this broken-*** champion. He can build full lethality and still be tanky due to Eclipse's shield and omnivamp and his E.
Do not interact with him in any ways if he has his passive stacked or close to stacked.
If you hook him with his passive up he will jump on your ADC's head and instakill him with his full combo.
Rell
Iron lady goes yee-****ing-haw.
Funny perma stun champion, can cancel your Q and E with any ability except her Q.
Oh and she can also cancel your R if she hits a Q while she is linked with E to your target, and also reduces your resistances. Then she will jump on you and you will die.
No matter if you go Aftershock or HoB, she will reduce all your resistances.
Sona
Seraphine 1.0, except she actually counters you.
She can perma boost the ADC with speed and heals, and her ultimate is almost instant.
Unlike Seraphine she will always be close to the ADC so she can speed boost if you channel your hook, heal if you try to R and stun you if you try to engage with E.
Soraka
Sona's little sister.
She has an INSTANT silence on her E stopping you from doing anything.
Late game she can spam her heal every 2 seconds, and her ultimate not only is a GLOBAL HEAL for her entire team, which means she can stop you from ulting at any time and location, but she also removes GW making it even harder to counter her.
Soraka is a priority target in every teamfight if you are playing Pyke,
Swain
Just **** this champion.
Xayah
Your ult is cancelled by hers and you will be stunned and killed right after.
Vayne
You cannot engage on this abomination of a champion.
Her Q is up faster than your Q and E and she will dodge them every single time. And if she can't dodge them she will just push you back with her E.
And if you're unlucky enough to be anywhere near a wall she will Flash + E and instakill you.
Morgana
This will be your perma ban.
Not only Morgana is completely broken as a Support, but she counters your kit just by pressing E at your target.
Oh and she also rushes Stopwatch and Zhonya's like a *****.
Zilean
He can revive anyone you ult.
And in the remote situation where you got anywhere near Lightning McZilean he will ult himself and kill you with a double Q.
Lux
I personally cannot play against this monstrosity.
No matter how many abilities you dodge, if she lands a single Q on you, you are dead no matter what, because Lux's damage is broken even when she's behind.
Taric
He can 5 man ult and make his entire team immortal.
Zyra
Same as Lux but worse because she keeps spawning plants in lane which make it even harder for you to land a Q in lane.
If you even think about engaging on someone when she's near she will full combo you and you will die from her plants alone.
Sivir
Morgana shield but worse because it also blocks your ult.
Yasuo
This champion is for mega losers lmfao.
He just windwalls and blocks you from doing anything, and when you think you can kill him he heals his entire bar up.
Tristana
She jumps on you and you are instakilled.
Her jump resets and ignores your Q and E.
Sylas
Perma ban this champion if you're playing Pyke mid or if Morgana is already banned.
Pyke ultimate for the enemy team on a bruiser who can heal his entire bar up with a point and click ability.
Draven
Draven is THE synergy with Pyke.
Your ult procs his passive, and you're both full aggro laners.
Jhin
Can do good follow-ups with his W when you engage, just be careful of not hooking someone out of it.
Yuumi
Yuumi on an assassin with a resetting executing ultimate.
Vayne
You can hook someone near a wall and let her do the rest.
Kai'Sa
You have hard CC. Kai'Sa likes Supports with hard CC.
Lucian
Lucian is completely broken right now. You can take Font of Life to proc his passive.
Kalista
Her ult is a perfect engage for you so you don't have to waste any ability to get close in teamfights.
Aphelios
This can go both ways. He either trolls or you both stomp lane and you end with a fed late game hyper carry.
Caitlyn
Caitlyn likes champions with hooks and hard CC, it makes it easier for her to place traps and perma CC her enemies.
Samira
You can't proc her passive as much as I'd like to.
Since the 20 nerfs she has received she's not what she used to be early game.
Ezreal
Can be good in some specific situations, but generally speaking your kits don't go well together.
Kindred
If you see Kindred on your team and you already locked in Pyke just dodge.
They will counter you with their ult making enemies immortal.

I like everything about Pyke, his design, gameplay, lore, etc. He's my main champion and one of my most comfortable picks.
I've been playing Pyke for around two years, but just in these last three to four months I've been really focused on him. I think I have somewhere around 200 total games on him, which is not much compared to other Pyke mains, but it's honest work.
Anyways, I'm making this guide because other guides really didn't help me that much, I basically made my own way with this champion, and I'm here to share my personal experience.

Skin Showcase
Pros / Cons
Pyke's Pros
→ Assassin Support → Very Good Early Game → Gold Sharing Your Cut → Straight Forward and Intuitive Kit → Exciting Gameplay → KS Pass
Pyke has a very unique playstyle, and this can be both good and bad depending on the situation and the enemy comp.
First of all, you are an Assassin Support, and this means that you will oftenly want to be securing kills with Death from Below so you can give your teammates as many Your Cut as possible and maximize your gold income.
You are one of the strongest early game champions due to your high base resistances, damage and Bone Skewer start, so in most games you are looking forward to an early level one cheese from lane bush, if your ADC wants to of course.
Pyke has an incredibly weak late game due to his Gift of the Drowned Ones and his unability to get bonus HP, which means your max health is capped at 2130.
As Pyke you are very realiant on roaming and snowballing to end the game as fast as possible. And you are very bad if you fall behind in the early game, but some good picks with Death from Below can put you back into the game in no time.
Also, your peeling ability is very weak compared to other enchanters.
Pyke's Cons
→ Low Peel → VERY Bad Late Game → Death from Below is very dodgeable → Very Reliant on Roaming and Snowballing → Flamed for Kill Securing → Bad when Behind
Team Composition (Synergies/Counters)
Pyke fits well in teams that have good engage potential and CC.
You would want to avoid playing Pyke in teams that have no frontline, engage, CC or poke teams, unless you want to go Aftershock Tank Pyke.
Draven is THE synergy with Pyke.
If the enemy team has any inmortality, like Taric or Zilean, any untargetability, like Fizz or Gwen, relies on lifestal and healing, or is filled with BIG tanks, like Nasus or Cho'Gath, you will probably want to dodge because it will be a 4v5 for your team, unless you're an OTP Pyke and have no second pick.
Runes, Spells, Items, Abilities
In Progress. Read the first section of the Guide meanwhile.
Lane Phase / Early Game
Pyke is designed and forced to be played as a Support. You can play him Mid and it works just fine, but he works best in a duo lane, for now.
You will always start with default Support Item.
Depending on your runes, you will first buy either Mobility Boots or Dirk.
My personal strategy is to NOT leash and try to get first blood at level one from lane bush, with the help of your ADC of course, if he doesn't want to cheese then just don't.
Depending on the difficulty of the matchup and wave state, you will play accordingly, either by going full-monkey engage or waiting for your jung... just kidding, you're Pyke, if you don't like the lane you just roam.
Mid Game / Teamfighting
After you get level 6 you WILL force fights if you see enemies isolated or mispositioned, preferably taking those kills with your ult so you can share gold.
In teamfights, you will try to get a hook on a priority target, like an enchanter or the enemy carry, and let your team jump on them once they are mispositioned and slowed, thus vulnerable.
Once they jump in, wait the perfect moment to R and follow-up with E, stunning as many people as possible, then getting out with W or continue to get kills with R.
If you and your team are all ahead and you don't have split pushers, you could split push yourself if you see your team is winning 4v5 fights with ease.
On the other hand, if you or your team is behind, you should play safer, trying to get collapse opportunities on mispositioned fed enemies with bounties, and of course, securing the kill yourself with R and gold sharing.
Late Game
Your late game as Pyke is non existent.
If you don't end the game before 35 minutes you will suffer, unless your team is really far ahead.
You can't engage in fights or even get close to them because you are an assassin with 2k HP and little to no resistances or escape tools, so you will die in late game teamfights if you don't play it safe.
Conclusion
This is the first Guide I make. I will try to update and improve it over time.
