How are you wasting passive stacks if you're using Riven the way she's supposed to be used (i.e. skill, auto, skill, auto, etc.) since AS only helps in decreasing time between auto-attacks, which is practically never an issue for her except with farming. Never got these AS builds. When I see them in-game, I laugh at them. Then I destroy them with my AD / CD build.

@sgtn00b: I like a little bit of attack speed to make sure you are never wasting any of her passive stacks.

isn't Phantom Dancer and Beserkers Grieves pointless? She doesn't need attack speed because she is ability based, not your standard AD champ. Ionian Boots of Lucidity would personally be better boots :)

Updated the guide with a new item and a new skill sequence! Thanks to everyone who pointed out my issues with the scaling between Ki Burst and Broken Wings!

wanted to point out that ki burst does not give the best scaling, it's broken wings. whil 1.0 may seem higher then 6.0, remember that broken wings has to be used quickly after one another meaning that 0.6x3 = 1.8, which means it actually scales better.

@SomethinkWicked: I'm going to change it soon I think to pick my Q first and max it first. I like to max my E second however for additional survivability. I should mention somewhere this isn't the burstiest you can get Riven to. I will probably end up making the pure burst setup as the primary build, then change this build to the secondary one.

well i dont understand your reason of maxing ki burst first, it really shhould be her Q and after W.. atlevel 3 u need 1 in your E.. your item build i really like i am certainly going to try that runes work great for early game durability i migt try that to as im doing armor pen and attack speed runes atm. but yes overall i loved it, +1! :)

@Bonng: Thanks for the comment! I really appreciate you posting the math, I hadn't done it before and just assumed Ki Burst did more damage overall. I will try maxing Broken Wings instead of Ki Burst first in a few games today and alter the guide accordingly. As for more AD items, I agree. When I was writing the guide last night I was basing it off of a few different things, opting for a lot of attack speed to make sure you are always using all of her passive stacks, but I think I may have perhaps over done it. What item would you recommend I change out and replace with a more AD heavy item?

I was thinking perhaps Black Cleaver, as we already are building a bit of attack speed so we fully take advantage of it. At first I was thinking Infinity Edge, but I don't think any of her abilities crit so you would be relying on just your auto-attacks, which is fine, but I'm wondering if there are better choices for her. I'll do a bit of playtesting.

Really good guide, one of the most informative on Riven so far. I like a lot of your item choices but you may want to play with higher AD items since her ult gives you 20% more AD with a short CD.

You mentioned that Ki Burst scaling better than other abilities was the reason you leveled it first. However, Broken Wings actually scales faster than Ki Burst due to the fact that the +dmg and +.6AD is applied 3 times in one cooldown instead of the once.

In your build you have under 500 AD even after the 20% increase from Blade of the Exile.

If we use 500 for your AD you get:

(110 + .6(500))*3 = 1230 DMG - Broken Wings
210 + 500 = 710 DMG - Ki Burst

For a true DPS number you would have to figure in cooldowns and in the 13 seconds you would be waiting for Broken Wings you would get 1.86 Ki Bursts which Does put it at 1318 DMG per 13 seconds.

Broken Wings = 95dps
Ki Burst = 101dps

If we were in an MMO and beating on a boss I would say go for Ki Burst. I personally plan on Maxing Broken Wings first because I would much rather have the extra DMG up front not be waiting 7-11 seconds to be able to use that second Ki Burst. That and most fights are not going to last long enough for me to get to that second Ki Burst.
