This guide is a WIP. It is primarily created via a team from the /r/RyzeMains subreddit.

First off, let me just say that I really, really hate mobafire's setup on guide creation. But, there doesn't seem to be much of an alternative simply because of Reddit's text limitations.

I am Theorchero. I peaked Platinum 1 in the previous season. I got to plat and then decayed because my account got chat restricted, so I abandoned my main for clash. I have over 500k mastery on Ryze across many accounts. I am a Discord Partner, and I am also the owner of /r/Gangplankmains and I wrote our comprehensive guide on Reddit there.

PRESEASON HAS NOT HIT YET, AS OF 10/16/2018.

The following are my recommended runes. If they're mandatory, I'll mention it. But ultimately the decision is up to you whether or not you want to follow my build.



Phase Rush is mandatory. This ability makes matchups that would otherwise be impossible easy to deal with.
Without this rune, matchups like Tryndamere, Nasus, Cassiopeia, Lb, etc would be much, much harder.



Manaflow Band is simply the best out of the available runes in this tier. Ryze scales somewhat with mana, and the extra % max mana per second is fantastic once you hit it 10 times. Try to proc with Q, as it's the easiest as it has higher range than Ryze other abilities and doesn't let you get traded back in most cases. Plus, it's good practice for lane harass.



Transcendence Is MANDATORY. The build does not do nearly as well without it. With this rune you have 40% CDR once you have Seraphs, and you get additional AP with blue buff and when you finish Frozen Heart. You NEED it! CDR is incredibly important for Ryze.



Gathering Storm is simply the best rune in this tier. Waterwalking is a joke and Scorch got gutted. It's just not worth taking anymore, besides, scorch doesn't have an indicator and can **** up turret aggro if you aren't careful. Gathering storm is a hedge against games going on too long when you're already full build.



Taste of blood Second best rune in Domination. Gives you really good sustain in lane and throughout the game, will heal a ton and meshes very well with Ryze's trading pattern - Since Ryze's shield occurs a little bit after a trade starts but usually before major burst, that means you take a small amount of damage before, this means that you heal that damage back, overall making your trade more efficient.



Ravenous Hunter is by far the most important rune here. It's the best rune in the game if your champion can use it. It gives you healing equal to a Hextech Gunblade for free. It's healing is to not be underestimated. You can pull off some crazy clutch fights because of how much you heal. Your Q, W, and EQ heal for full value. You can get 20-30% of your total hp bar back off a minion wave.

First order of business, you need an item set. I've placed mine within the spoiler below. Simply copy the text within and paste it like the picture shows.

Start E vs Range.

**Start W vs Melee.** If you are vs melee, you get E at lvl 2 instead of Q. I will go over this in the "Vs Melee" section.

Do not put points into ult until lvl 13. This is because it provides 0 combat usability except in **very** niche situations. Additionally, rank 1 Ryze ult is utter garbage. Rank 2, however, is great. Putting points out of ult means you can fight and duel and trade more effectively.

We max Q early because it's mana cost remains static at 40 mana, regardless of rank, while E's mana cost increases the more points you put into it. Since mana is such an important and limited resource for Ryze early, we need to be careful about how much we spam.
