Abilities

So, let's have a quick look onto Akali's abilities:

Assassin's mark (Passive)
RANGE: 500
COST:
COOLDOWN:
Here's the "juice" of Akali's damage. Always try to apply as many passive as you can (we'll discuss later, on COMBOS section).
Akali's damaging abilities against enemy champions will mark a ring around them for 4 seconds, granting her 30 / 40 / 50 / 60% bonus movement speed for 2 seconds while moving away from them (depending on level). Subsequent damaging abilities against enemy champions while a ring is active will only refresh its duration.

If Akali leaves the ring within its duration, she regains the bonus movement speed while moving towards enemy champions for 2 seconds and gains Swinging Kama for 4 seconds, during which she cannot create another ring.

SWINGING KAMA: Akali's next basic attack's range is doubled and deals 35-182 (+0.6% bonus attack damage) (+55% of ability power) bonus magic damage (depending on level).

Five Point Strike (Q)
RANGE: 500
COST: 130 / 115 / 100 / 85 / 70 energy
COOLDOWN: 1,5 sec
Akali's main ability. You need it to shove waves, trade, and tf properly (maxed out 9 will be your 1st true power spike).
Akali unleashes kunais in a cone in the target direction, dealing 30 / 55 / 80 / 105 / 130 (+65% of attack damage) (+60% of ability power) magic damage to enemies hit. Targets at maximum range are also Slow icon.png slowed by 50% for 0.5 seconds.

Twilight Shroud (W)
RANGE: 250
COST:
COOLDOWN: 20
This is the most important ability to our rogue assassin. Will restore your energy, make out untargetable and you'll have lots of MS. Use it to kite around enemies and push the waves.
Akali restores 80 energy over 0.4 seconds, gains 30 / 35 / 40 / 45 / 50% bonus movement speed that decays over 2 seconds, and detonates a smoke bomb for 5 / 5.5 / 6 / 6.5 / 7 seconds a fixed distance away in the target direction, creating a circular shroud that expands over the next 5 seconds into a ring. The shroud does not permeate terrain. While the shroud is active, Akali's maximum energy is increased by 80.

Entering the shroud renders Akali invisible, unless she is dashing.

Akali's basic attacks and abilities will break the invisibility and prevent her from entering it for 1−0.625 seconds, refreshing on subsequent attacks and casts (depending on minutes).

The marked section of Twilight Shroud's will linger for the mark's duration, even after the shroud ends.

Shuriken Flip (E)
RANGE: 825
COST: 30 energy
COOLDOWN: 16 / 14.5 / 13 / 11.5 / 10
This is your main engage tool. You can snipe it onto enemies, or use it as a escape tool (or even match TP/Rs from another champs).
Akali flips in the opposite direction and fires a shuriken in the target direction that stops upon hitting an enemy, dealing them 30 / 56.25 / 82.5 / 108.75 / 135 (+0.255% attack damage) (+36% of ability power) magic damage.

The shuriken marks the enemy or the last smoke section hit for 3 seconds, revealing them for the duration. While the target or smoke section is marked, Akali can reactivate Shuriken Flip.

RECAST: Akali dashes towards the marked target or smoke section, consuming the mark, regardless of distance. Against enemies it deals 70 / 131.25 / 192.5 / 253.75 / 315 (+0.595% attack damage) (+84% of ability power) magic damage upon arrival.

Akali will not flip backwards while she is immobilized or grounded.

Perfect Execution (R)
RANGE: 600 - R1/750 - R2
COST:
COOLDOWN: 100 / 80 / 60
One of the most insane mobility abilities of the entire game. You can either use it as a engage, disengage, re-agrro tool. Look for a good usage of this ability, and you probably can handle multiple kills every single game.
Akali dashes 750 units in the direction of the target enemy champion, dealing 80 / 220 / 360 (+0.5% bonus attack damage) (+30% of ability power) magic damage to enemies she passes through.

If Akali hits an enemy, she flips over them, continuing the dash up to its normal 750 range but at least another 150 units, for a total maximum dash distance of 900 units if the first enemy she hit was at the maximum dash range. Perfect Execution can be recast after 2.5 seconds within 10 seconds of the first activation.

RECAST: Akali dashes 800 units in the target direction, dealing 60 / 130 / 200 (+30% of ability power) magic damage to enemies she passes through, increased by 0−200% (depending on target's missing health).
  • Try to use your Perfect Execution when you are looking for a all in into enemy champions (as we'll discuss later on this guide, you can always land a E after the R1 cast, making it easy to make the full combo properly).
  • When trading on early levels with Akali, always abuse on your Assassin's Mark to shred enemies down. Wait 'til your energy is fully restored to activate your passive, and then throw another Five Point Strike to deal maximized DPS, and even proc your Electrocute rune (if you are running it).
  • Never forget to use your Twilight Shroud when you need to. It has a long cooldown tho, so be careful and mindful, when you use it.
Builds & Playstyle

You are probably guessing: how will I choose between this many meta builds, and how will this influence in my playstyle? So, let's talk about itemization.

x MEELEE/SQUISHIES
Akali is known by her one shot power. If you manage to combo well (we'll discuss later on COMBOS section), it's very easy for you to proc this rune. It's very good against any kind of meelees, and all off the squishies mid/top laners you can face but tanks. It's a short trade rune, you want to fight whenever it's up, and try not to extend the trade while it's on cooldown. When using electrocute, you may wanna build Hextech Rocketbelt, so you can have extra mobility and assassination power, as it will guarantee you a dash, and magic pen.

x TANKS
When taking conqueror, you may me aiming to build a tankier way, or either facing a team comp full of tanks. This rune playstyle make you able to trade well early and late game with almost anyone in the game. Try to extend the trade, and use your full combo to guarantee a positive trade for you, so you can all in your enemy laner later on. Going for this rune setup, will require some more sustain. So, consider going for a bruiser build, choosing Riftmaker as your mythic item.

Talking about the other items:

Mejai's Soulstealer The snowball item. This is a item built when you are sure to win early/mid game. It's a cheap item, but if you got no stacks on it, you're screwd. So, try your best not to die, play "safe" and only take risks if you see it's really worth it. On your 1st/2nd base, buy the Dark Seal, it's a really good item for laning phase, and you can always upgrade it onto your Mejai's, if you want to.

Shadowflame Core item every Akali build. You may build this item every game. Great cost-value, provides you lost of magic pen, some health and duel power. It's a perfect second item rush, right after your mythic.

Rabadon's Deathcap The ap ratios go BRRR. This one is a very controversial item. Some players say that is a must-have item, every single game. Others, including me, agree that d.cap is a situacional item. Either you can buy it third item, after a 25 stack Mejai on a 10/0 game; or last item, in a 30 minute game. But sometimes, it's just not worth it buying it: so expensive, bad itemization tree. In the end, it's up to you when buying it or not, depending on your game. A little advice: I'd only buy it when I'm extremely fed, or when there are only squishies on the enemy team. Otherwise, better going for more useful stats, as magic pen, health or armor/mr.

Morellonomicon The healcut item. Nothing more than a situacional item. When you need, buy it, simple as that. It's a overall ok item on Akali, some ap and some health. But there are some many better items out there, so just make sure not to waste your gold, when you don't actually need to.

Zhonya's Hourglass Counter to almost every AD champ. It's perfect for Akali, guarantees armor and ap to you. So, when facing ad champs in the mid/top & jg, don't be afraid to do it without thinking too much. Also, is a good option when you're fed, and need to be a little safer for not throwing out your lead in bounties. Generally, third or fourth item.

Demonic Embrace Bruiser item that makes you tankier. This item in mainly built when taking the Conqueror setup, bc you'll receive some extra health and ap (+ the op passive) and will combo very well with your Riftmaker true dmg passive. When going for these, opt for going top lane, and dueling side on the mid/late game, since your one shot power is not that big on this build.

Banshee's Veil Counter to heavy AP comps. Same as Zhonya's, but good against AP champs. Besides that, remember that you have a passive on this item that negate any source of magic dmg one time. So is good against Veigars, and Zyras, when the are ap and have a expressive cc ability that you want to avoid taking.

Lich Bane Perfect for one shotting squishies. This new version of Lich Bane is good on Akali, as long you're facing some squishies on the enmy team. Does not give you any health, armor, mr, magic pen; it's a straight dmg item, so make sure to build it only when you won't need anything else. Particularly, I don't build it any of my games.

Void Staff Do it against tank comps. It's a item made for killing tanks. When going for the Conqueror/ Riftmaker setup, you probably won't need it, but when you choose the Electrocute/ Hextech Rocketbelt one, it's a good option when you have to kill them yourself. Against squishier team comps, you probably won't build it any game.

Tips & Tricks

Now, let's move on to some Akali tips & tricks:

Assassin's mark (Passive) - Never do not use your passive. Here's where the most damage output comes from;
- When early trading, let the energy full restore before using your passive, so, doing this, you can trade better in lane, and even proc Electrocute level 1;

(video soon)

- If you auto atack the target inside your passive circle, and in the animation of it Flash out, you can instantly proc her passive;

(video soon)

- When with the passive active, you'll have more MS, so make sure to use on your favour.

Five Point Strike (Q) - Your Q has more range diagonaly that it's shown;

(video soon)

- Your clear wave will be maxed out level 9, when you'll have 5 points onto your Q;
- If you Q an enemy and the edge of it, he'll be slowed, so use to trade better.

Twilight Shroud (W) - You'll receive MS while under your W, so use to kite around, chase, or get out of somewhere;
- Towers will reveal you when you are under your W and it gets under them;
- As the time goes on, your W size will get bigger, use this to get to other places safer;

(video soon)

- W will restore your energy, so make sure to press it before going in and all in.

Shuriken Flip (E) - You can bypass some walls with your E;

(video soon)

- You can follow flashes, TPs and dashes with your E;
- You can Zhonya's Hourglass in the middle of your E and still do the dmg;
- E + flash does not work, you must flash, and then E.

(video soon)

Perfect Execution (R) - R1 and R2 can be cancelled by flash, E and rocketbelt;

(video soon)

- You can R1 over someone to reach another one, or just R2 out of any situacion;
- When max range R1, your E will always land on top of who you've ulted, on the direction of your mouse;

(video soon)

- You can bypass walls with your R1 and R2.

Some Curiosities:

Did you know that:

- The name "Akali" may be "correctly" pronounced if you say like this ?
Khäli
- Akali is from Ionia ?
- Akali is from a Clan Order called Kinkou, leadered by her master Shen ?
- Akali's music girlband called "K/DA" is actually inspired in Korean pop girlbands of nowadays (she's the rapper!) ?
Conclusion

Here's my conclusion!

So, if you are reading until this point, I just wanna say thank you. I tried to do my best on explaining my main to you, and hope you like.
Questions you may be asking:

- Is it worth giving Akali a try ?
- Isn't she so dificult, to the point i won't be able to play well (since I got no time to practice) ?
- Do you feel happy playing her ? I mean... is it actually a fun champion ?
- Shall I master her ? And if I manage to do so, will I be able to climb until Masters or higher ?

So let me try to answer you.

Akali's being my main since season 9. I mained jungle and support roles before, so it was a little dificult for me to learn how to lane well, farm and trade. Since I got rid of the lacks of non-playing mid lane, it felt so great to play with her. Yes, she's a high skill-required champion, and has a high skill ceiling as well. You'll need at least 20, to 50 games, to fully understand her, and start carrying your own games. But I swear to you guys, it's all worth it. She's fun to play, strong character, can handle multiple enemies at once, and fits in almost every single soloqueue comp. I climbed so easily with her, and recommend you all giving her a try.

If you have any questions, don't forget to comment down bellow. I also am nice hearing criticism and opinions about how I can make this a better guide. If you want to contact me, my Instagram DMs are open, @victor_lisita.
As I said early, I'd like to thank you all for reading, and can't wait to face you all in high elo!
