Pretty damn easy matchup. Even though he has great sustain, your sustain still wins over his. Just keep in mind thought, without at least sunfire cape, hes a great dueler. Farm up, dont die, and dont be close to him when he is post 6. Try out your boundries with early level skirmishes.
Teemo
Another fairly easy matchup up. If its a good teemo,(>implying teemo takes skill) he will constantly poke you down, forcing you under tower. So farm up under tower. Try out early level skirmishes, but be very cautious post 6.
Rumble
Extremely easy matchup. You wanna build Spirit visage first, and start a level 3 skirmish ASAP. He wont be able to all in you, due to how his mechanics work.
Gangplank
Hes GangPlank. Pretty self-explanatory.
Cho'Gath
Extremely intense and difficult matchup. Shen shines in late game, but as does Cho, and his late game is even better. He will constantly harass you with his Rupture, and if try to taunt, he will just silence, knock up, and if post 6, turn you into a delicious stack. Stay under turret, and try to not die while farming. Only way you'll kill him is if hes brainless or you get a gank.
Darius
Another hard matchup, Darius can be a little mixed, but most of the time, you will always pushed under you turret. Just keep your distance to avoid all of his abilities, and try to juke his grab with your E. His passive completely counters your Sustain, but if you can make sure he doesnt get his DoT on you, you should be fine.
Dr. Mundo
Pretty easy lane oppenent. He has great sustain, but yours is better if you play your cards right. Tryout ealry level skirmishes, and see how you are with trading against Mundo.
Fiora
This is a black and white matchup. Either you feed, or you dont. Some occasions, i've made a Fiora my *****. But for the most part, she will out trade you. Try out low level skirmishes, but be veerry cautious.
Gnar
An alright matchup, but can be very easy simply by leaving when hes ulted, and dodging his skillshot. Try out low level skirmishes when his ult is completely down. Notably a little annoying to cs against.
Hecarim
Not too hard of a matchup, the only problem is that you cant really duel him. You sustain is better than his, but in an all in duel, he will come out vitorious due to his constant AP damage while healing himself.
Heimerdinger
If youre not playing Syndrda, then this guys is basically always an annoying matchup. Shens Q is waaaay too short ranged to poke him down, meaning he will always come out victorious while trying to trade with him while he is next to his turrets.
Irelia
Kinda a "meh" matchup. She has pretty good sustain, but yours is better. Only problem with her is her stun and gap closer, so dont be low health near her. Try out early level skirmishes with caution.
Jarvan IV
An okay matchup. If all of his abilities are up, he will most likely win trades if hes going AD. If hes going tanky, try out early level skirmishes, and see if you out-tank him.
Jax
Jax is honestly a pretty easy matchup. Only problem is, hes Jax. You wont be able to win duels, early and especially late game. Just poke him down, and force him to waste his Mana, so now its just a lane game of sustaining.
Jayce
Pretty damn matchup, as long as he doesnt get extremely ahead. Hes ranged, yea, but if you rush him, he have to change to melee, and which point you back off and Poke him down. Try out early level skirmishes, and see how it goes.
Kennen
Pretty easy matchup. Only cons about this matchup is his cc. He will constantly poke you down, stunning you, allowing him to auto some more. Make sure to dodge his ninja star things and you should be able to stay in lane, farming, since your sustain is great.
Lee Sin
Not that bad of a matchup besides youre both energy based champions, so he will constantly be trying to poke you down. Wait for both of stages of his W, and poke him down. Tryout early level skirmishes, but post 6, and you will most likely never be able to kill him due to his godlike cc. And if its a good Lee Sin, you best farm under turret post 6.
Lissandra
A rare matchup, but a really mean one. She will constantly poke you down, due to her passive. Along with using abilities without mana when her passive is proced, she will cc you as soon as you rush her with a taunt. Just farm and dont die.
Malphite
Pretty damn easy matchup. You wanna start poking him down while he cs's so his passive is gone. When gone, you want to make sure you make an effort at keeping his passive down, so your Q's will slowly widdle him down. Try early level skirmishes freely.
Maokai
Pretty simple matchup. Due to his passive, you want to engage in skirmishes often, so he doesnt heal back up while you use your abilities. Try out early skirmishes to find your boundries with this matchup. He is also very mana hungry if he pokes back.
Master Yi
Pretty easy matchup. Tryout early skirmishes to see where you at. Even though one of his abilities purpose is to simply heal him, you still out sustain him. Just remember to poke him down early so he wastes his mana on his heal.
Mordekaiser
Pretty damn hard matchup. He will constantly poke you down, while cs, WITHOUT EVEN TRYING. Your best option against this oppenent is to farm under tower, and make sure you are far from his abilities. He even outsustains you with spellvamp.
Nasus
Extremely hard matchup for shen. Almost at all times of the game,(unless hes reeeaaally bad with Susan) you wont be able to ever outduel him. Not only cant you out duel him, but his Sustain is godly and superior to shens. All Nasus has to do is start Farming for stacks, and he will, for the most part, wont ever be low on health, even while youre poking him down. Only thing you can do is farm under tower, which means basically allowing Nasus to free farm, which is a bad thing to do, but as Shen, there isnt much you can do without assist of an ally.
Olaf
While you can poke, his poke is way much better. He has no sustain, but if hes good with throwing his axes, then he will stop your sustain. Stay under turret, farm, and do your best to dodge his axes.
Pantheon
Pretty simple matchup. He does some damage, but he has no sustain what-so-ever. Let him poke you down, then just farm up and heal. Try early level skirmishes and attempt to Taut our of his cone of damage ability.(E)
Poppy
Extremely easy matchup. All in her at level 3, and see how that goes. Just remember like always, youre shen. Dont get greedy thinking you'll get a kill. If you can get a kill, great, but dont risk your own life for it.
Renekton
Pretty tough matchup. While you try to duel him, he will cc you instantly, allowing him to win trades, and possibly get a kill. If he has ignite, do NOT be near him while low, for he will cc then dash, then ignite to ensure a kill. Do not skirmish early, and farm under tower.
Rengar
An okay matchup. If hes new, he will constantly try to assert lane dominance with low level skirmishes. With that said, you need to make sure you shield his q, then duel him. Do that, and you should win trades. If hes smart and knows how a shen plays, then he will safely farm. Do not let him, deny him of cs, and have early skirmishes.
Riven
Walk in the park. Sure, she does tons of damage, but just makes sure to sheild her q's, then taunt her so her passive does less damage to you. Try early skirmishes, but make sure you dont die and give her and edge. Her being riven, if she doesnt get kills from you in top lane, she will try to gank other lanes. In an event like such, make sure you ping MIA INSTANTLY, to prevent your teammates feeding her.
Ryze
O-****ing-P. Like, HES WAS ONE OF THE FIRST, IF NOT, THE FIRST CHAMP CREATED, REWORK AFTER REWORK, AND STIIIILL SUPER OP. Just farm. Hug turret, try to not get stunned, and dodge skillshots. Do NOT even ATTEMPT to have early skirmishes.
Singed
Just make sure you widdle him down and waste this mana. Do that, and you win lane. Tryout early skirmishes, but like everyone should no, do not follow him. You should know that.
