Low Threat, Build Thornmail. Stun as much as possible. Don't 1v1.
Ahri
Squishy, easy fodder unless ahead.
Akali
High Burst. But only an issue if ahead.
Alistar
Annoying. Low Chance of Killing you though. Pay attention to you're place. Likes to headbutt you under towers.
Amumu
Can out-damage your mana pool. Keep engagements limited, you beat in the 1v1.
Anivia
Stun is annoying, but useally brittle. Be wary of engaging near towers.
Annie
Lots of Burst, double stuns. Hard to engage on, but if you can ult her, you should be able to kill.
Ashe
Good at kiting you due to slows. If you don't land E, or can flash ult. Don't bother.
Aurelion Sol
Stun is annoying, and so is the stars, but overall, Not Hard.
Azir
High Sustain Damage, and Good escapes make him hard to lock down. Try and get between him and his "Easy" escape route so he'll run into you.
Bard
Stun and Ult can really ruin you're attempts to gank this lane.
Blitzcrank
Will always try and grab you under tower and knock you up. Keep minions between you and him if possible.
Brand
Lots of Damage, Low Mana, Sorta long CDs. Try and get him to spend his mana, or abilities before you engage.
Braum
Two Stuns, and a Slow. And his Wall blocks your E. He's extremely annoying, but not played often.
Caitlyn
One of the worst ADCs for you. Disengage, Root, and Good Range. ALWAYS attempt to gank from behind.
Camille
Hard to lock down due to mobility, and stun. Not difficult otherwise.
Cassiopeia
High Damage, Slows, and Stun. Difficult to get to, but fragile if you can.
Cho'Gath
Not difficult to fight as Skarner, but you have to build to fight him.
Corki
High Mixed Damage Champion with good disengage. He's hard to get a hold of, but is almost certainly dead if you can.
Darius
Harass this lane as much as reasonable possible. You do not want him getting strong.
Diana
Mixed feelings about her. If she gets fed, it's gg. If you are as strong as her, you tend to win.
Dr. Mundo
Annoying with his slows and life regen, but not a lot of kill pressure either way.
Draven
His Displace, and high burst damage tend to melt Skarner, build tabis, and thornmail to help midigate the damage, a frozen mallet isn't a bad idea for this matchup.
Ekko
Catching him his the hardest thing to do, with his ult, and his stuns.
Elise
Depends on who is ahead. Even fight? You win.
Evelynn
She only wins if she's ahead. If she's even, or behind, you'll stomp her.
Ezreal
Hard to catch, and high damage. Try to flash ult him, to drag him to you're team for easy kills.
Fiddlesticks
Extremely Annoying, but weak unless fed.
Fiora
A bane of you existance. High Damage, Decent Sustain, a slow/stun that counters your ult, and you're E. Be Careful.
Fizz
Only difficult cause he's hard to catch, even when out of place. Frozen Mallet isn't a bad idea.
Galio
Depends on build. If AP, you're life will suck cause of his damage and tankiness. If Tank, he's hard to kill, but he shouldn't be you're focus anyway. GET THAT ADC.
Gangplank
Annoying cause of slows, and barrels. But you useally get the 1v1, unless you are of course.. standing in barrels.
Garen
AD Garen hurts, a lot. But you have stuns which can even out the playing field. If ahead, harass with E, and stay away until you've got more tank to deal with him.
Gnar
The most annoying top lane to gank. Way to much kite potential. Wait for him to go Mega, then gank your top laner.
Gragas
Weak AF imo. He does have a lot of damage early game, but falls off really hard into late. Only his ult is really useful to displace you into his team.
Graves
This is really a mix-up. 1v1, unless he is ahead, you should beat him.
Hecarim
Not much of a threat to you. Just does everything you can do, but faster.
Heimerdinger
Nearly impossible to get to, due to stuns, and his turrets. You have to try and flank or even come from his turret to get him.
Illaoi
Dodge the tentacle monsters.
Irelia
She has a hard engage, and stun/slow that are good for kiting Skarner.
Ivern
Does anybody play this champion anymore?... Hard to give a rating against him.
Janna
Always ruins you ganks with her Ult. Wait for her to use it, then ult. Or if you're good at your timing.. ult, as she does, and drag whoever you just ulted back with you. >:)
Jarvan IV
His early game burst, and CC + Ult, is bad for you. If he gets ahead, he'll stay ahead until you can get some items together to counter that inital burst.
Jax
Just conisder you game ruined. His damage/LS will out damage/sustain you, and he has a stun, and leap to get away. Unless you have chain CC on you're team, this isn't going to end well.
Jayce
He hurts a fuck of a lot, and has good disengage. But if you time it right, you can ult him when he knocks you back, and drag him with you.
Jhin
Simple. Stay away when he only has his last shot left. Otherwise, he's slow, fairly easy to gank, aslong as he doesn't root you.
Jinx
Her Root is annoying, but if you get to her, it's pretty much GG. Build Thornmail.
Kalista
Probably the worst ADC to have to try and gank. She is extremely slippery, and her ult, tends to be used to prevent you from getting near her. Come from behind, and show her the stinger.
Karma
Her Abilities make her hard to gank, regardless of role. Not a lot of kill pressure though.
Karthus
Slow, close range abilities. Does decent damage though. Only an issue if you're health is slow, then his fury shall rain from the sky.
Kassadin
Squishy, but slippery. Try to cut off his escape route.
Katarina
You're actually a pretty strong counter to her, as you can interrupt her ult.
Kayle
You can ult her when she has her shield up, and drag her around still. She does have good range/damage making her hard to get to though.
Kayn
Red makes him hard to kill. Blue makes him food, unless he's ahead. Lets hope he chooses wrong.
Kennen
Stuns for days. Good at preventing your ganks.
Kha'Zix
High Burst, and can useally take you in a 1v1 due to isolation damage. Be Careful.
Kindred
Drag her out of her ult.
Kled
If he's ahead, he'll hurt. Otherwise, your biggest issue is actually securing the kill, due to the double life bar.
Kog'Maw
Slow, and easy to get to. Hurts a heck of a lot though.
LeBlanc
Good luck ever catching her.
Lee Sin
You tend to beat Lee Sin, unless he's fed. He's just hard to keep a hold of.
Leona
Her stuns make her annoying, that is all though
Lissandra
Hard to catch out of place, and her stun makes ganking her even harder. Probably better to look at another lane.
Lucian
Wait for him to Dash, before you use your E.
Lulu
With all her buffs, it makes it hard to kill her, or whoever she is protecting.
Lux
Dodge the root, and you're going to put out her light.
Malphite
His ult makes him annoying, and he can suprise you with his damage. But he isn't much of a threat on his own.
Malzahar
His ult is the biggest issue. Do not hesitate to flash away, if you're health is low, to prevent him from ulting you to secure the kill.
Maokai
Maokai is like a better version of you. This match-up depends on who is ahead.
Master Yi
Quite literally, ruins you game. You have to build to fight him, or you'll not stand a chance.
Miss Fortune
Lots of damage, but no real escapes. Watch your placement, and you'll be fine.
Mordekaiser
Tends to be Squishy, but watch the mace. If it is glowing, get away! THE MACE, IT HURTS.
Morgana
Her root and stun make her annoying, and her shield blocks your ult and your E. Bait it out with the E, when it drops, ult her or whoever.
Nami
Her stun/knock ups are annoying, but she is slow, and easy to catch out if you can dodge them.
Nasus
Harass his lane as much as possible. You'll want to build full tank for this fight, and do your best to keep him away from your team, he will probably be your ult and E focus.
Nautilus
Unless he's the troll build, you do what he does, but better.
Nidalee
Depends entirely on her skill. If she's good, she has a lot of burst, which can be surprising. If not, well.. you just ate a kitty.
Nocturne
Try and stay near your APC or ADC for when he ults, you can ult him when he lands.
Nunu & Willump
Ult him when he ults, and it'll cancel it early for less damage.
Olaf
Olaf will win, just cause his skillset counters yours. Look for other lanes, avoid in the 1v1.
Orianna
She has a lot of burst, and her ult can prevent your gank. Flank whenever possible, as she is extremely slow.
Ornn
Super Tanky, Super Annoying. Ult when you see his ram come on screen, to prevent his ult from doing the knock up.
Pantheon
Lots of poke, and a stun. He is only an issue, if he gets fed. Best to avoid the lane, unless the top laner is healthy enough to support your ganks.
Poppy
Her stun is annoying, but I actually love fighting this champion. When you see her spinup, get ready to ult someone. As if you ult someone right as she ults you, you take them with you. I've killed many ADCS/APCS cause of this.
Quinn
She will most likely target you, cause of skillset which tends to counter yours. If you can time it, you can grab her mid-vault.
Rakan
Annoying cause of his knock-up, and charm. If you ult him, when he comes in for the charm, it'll hold you both in the same spot as the charm still goes through.
Rammus
You tend to beat Rammus in the 1v1, unless he's extremely fed.
Rek'Sai
It's not going to be a fun game. Her mobility makes it hard to counter-gank. and her early game damage is brutal until you get some tank gear.
Renekton
Almost impossible to gank, due to stun and dashes, and ult. Don't go in, unless you and the top laner are both healthy.
Rengar
Stay away from bushes, and you're golden.
Riven
Riven tends to be building Lethality, it blows through you pretty easily. She will be your ult and e focus, or she will wipe you and your team.
Rumble
Annoying due to ult, and harpoon. Has high damage, but also fairly squishy.
Ryze
Hard to catch due to root, and Ult. But squishy, and if you can catch him, he's pretty easy to kill.
Sejuani
Her stuns make her hard to secure kills on, but she also has decent damage. This really depends on who is ahead.
Shaco
A GOOD Shaco, you will never kill.
Shen
His ult tends to ruin your ganks. He also has a lot of damage against you with his Q, cause of % Health damage.
Shyvana
Just Ban her. Everything about her counters you.
Singed
Annoying to gank, due to movement speed increases, and he tends to take rylais. Also his flip, and his root. Good luck killing him. Congrats if you do.
Sion
Only dangerous when dead. He does have 2 stuns, and a slow though.
Sivir
Hard to catch cause of Ult, and her spellshield counters your E or Ult. Bait it out.
Skarner
No Idea, never fought myself. I'd assume it'd be whoever stunned who first.
Sona
Her range, stun and damage make her a bit of a threat. Make sure to build some MR.
Soraka
Avoid the Silence and the Root, and the only thing you really have to worry about is her Wish. She is a primary focus most of the time.
Swain
Lots of sustain. Thats about all. Dodge his Root, and pay attention to if you are Dotted or not, as you take 20% more damage if you are.
Syndra
High Burst, and a Stun. But she is slow, and almost always an easy gank.
Tahm Kench
You probably will not kill him, but it's not likely he will kill you either.
Taliyah
Avoid being knocked under her tower, or blocked into a tower with her wall.
Talon
Focus on another lane.
Taric
His ults, heals, and stuns, make him extremely hard to gank his lane, did I mention, he is tanky too? Probably the worst support to have to go against.
Teemo
Teemo is very mixed. He tends to be extremely annoying, but if you can catch him with a decent amount of health left, you tend to ruin him.
Thresh
Stay away from his tower when you engage this lane.
Tristana
Rocket Jump makes her annoying to gank, but if you ult her, when she ults you.. guess where she is going? >:)
Trundle
Slow, Knockup, Speed/Stat Steal? Trundle is one of those junglers or top laners who will ruin you game. Luckily, he's rarely played.
Tryndamere
Never engage in 1v1, If you see him ult, wait a second or two, before you ult him in return, so that you can secure the kill.
Twisted Fate
He has an extreme amount of map pressure, and his stun makes him hard to gank. Flash ult when you can, but only if you have the backup to secure the kill.
Twitch
The little mouse is a mixed bag. If he's ahead, he's just going to ruin everybody. Outside of very few others, he is who you should be saving your flash ult for. he tends to try and flank, so if he is on the enemy team, it tends to be better for you to show up, immedately after the fight has started, so that maybe you can suprise him, and grab him before his team realizes what happened.
Udyr
Yeah, GL. He's broken as heck right now. You won't kill him, you won't catch him. He'll just split push all game and win.
Urgot
Urgot has a suprising amount of damage, even early game. Don't try and 1v1 him cause of his execute.
Varus
His slow, and ult make him hard to get to, but like most ADCs, if you make it to him, you tend to destroy him. Thornmail.
Vayne
This is going to be a bad game. Slippery as a wet snake, and her true damage on you shreds you.
Veigar
Avoid the stun, and you should be good. Flash ult out of his stun if you can, to prevent anymore havoc.
Vel'Koz
Slow, and knockup. Watch your position. Velkoz likes narrow areas to take advantage of his ult.
Vi
Skill Matchup. Whoever has more kills, will win the fight. Ulting her when she ults, doesn't prevent damage, or the knockup.
Viktor
Not sure about his abiltiies, but he seems to be hard to catch due to the ground thing that grabs you, and pulls you in, and he has a stun. Make sure to flank from behind when possible.
Vladimir
Likelihood of a sucessful gank? Slim to none. His abilitiy that lets him turn into a puddle pretty much lets him get away everytime. If you can, whenever he gets out of it, ult him and drag him back into the fight.
Volibear
He can move as fast as you, and he does decent damage. This will be a skill matchup in most cases, but I personally don't fight him alone.
Warwick
Thornmail, Thornmail, Thornmail. Stun as much as possible. This will hopefully be enough til someone can help you finish him off.
Wukong
High Burst, and Slippery. Not impossible to kill, just not likely. Make sure you don't ult his clone.
Xayah
Her ult makes her hard to secure, along with the root. Bait out the ult if you can, then flash ult her.
Xerath
Slow, but has a stun, and good damage/poke.
Xin Zhao
Overtuned right now. He's like Yi, you have to build to fight him, and only him, and you will still probably die.
Yasuo
Protect whoever this laner is. If you can keep Yasuo shut down, they tend to rage, and leave, or tilt into oblivion.
Yorick
Be careful, Yorick's Q HURTS. I wouldn't 1v1 him, unless I know his maiden is down, or i'm ahead.
Zac
Annoying, but neither one of you will likely kill the other.
Zed
Zed isn't a huge threat to you. It's everybody eles. Ult him as soon as you see him, unless the enemy ADC is within range.
Ziggs
Slow, Easy to Gank. Only one Escape, and it's not a good one. He does have the minefield that slows.
Zilean
Watch out for the stun, be prepare for the ult.
Zoe
Who'd want to hurt a face like that? I'm going to make assumptions based on her skills. She's going to be hard to gank, you'd probably be better off focusing another lane. Don't bother flashing to her.
Zyra
Her ult sucks, her poke sucks, her root sucks. She just sucks. I hate trying to gank her lane.
Hello, I'm Seiketi. I'm a Gold 5, Skarner main. And well, i'll let my stats tell the story.
I play Skarner a lot, I even stream if, feel free to drop by and check it out. Twitch
Anyway, clearly you are here cause you want some advise on how to play Skarner. Atleast that is my first guess. My second guess is, you are wondering "Why should I play Skarner?". I hope to awnser both of those questions in this guide today.
Runes
Runes
I've included two jungle pages that I prefer to use for the jungle, and a recommendation on a third for support, if you choose to use him in that role. (I wouldn't, but it's possible! I've done it!)
Lets go over Page 1:
Resolve, cause you're Skarner, you tend to be you team's front line, or engage. You need health. Aftershock in it's current state goes very well with how you build Skarner, and the secondary keys help him even more. Increased Armor/Magic Resist, Tenacity and Health are all great stats on Skarner.
Now about the secondary tree, Inspiration. The reason I choose this tree is mainly cause of one second key: Future's Market.
Skarner has a VERY expensive build, mainly due to trinity force being almost always a must buy for him. This allows you to go into debt a small bit, which helps you get to that power spike a little sooner.
Approach Velocity is nice for that little burst of movement speed also.
Page 2: I feel this page is more useful, if you just feel like you have a good chance of snowballing, being the other team has a immobile mid or ADC, or maybe just not the best support. Something that you can take advantage of. The only difference in between these two pages is the secondaries, this one being of: Domination.
Cheap Shot: Cause Everytime you E, you proc this for free damage.
Relentless Hunter: More Movement Speed on Skarner per kill/assist. Helps you get around faster, which means more or better ganks/escapes.
Creeping / Jungling
Creeping / Jungling
Skarner:
Your Blue, Gromp, Wolves. (Try and secure atleast your netural spire, if not the one in the enemy jungle. Be careful, they are useally contested. Do not goto the enemy one without someone nearby.)
Look for Gankable Lane, Get Skuttle, then head to that lane. (Unless you need to get there sooner, then go straight there.)
If no lanes are prime for a gank, finish you're jungle, back, and look for a gank then.
Another note: Skarner has AMAZING clear after his first full clear, and it's easy for him to go counter jungle the enemy jungle, his W helps him get around faster, but be careful it uses a lot of mana. I always check the enemy raptors, whenever I'm nearby them.
Team Work
Team Work
Skarner works best when there are other CCs that can either setup, or follow up on his CC, also, if there is another front line to split up the damage. But you're goal is to get whoever the largest threat is, either out of the fight by killing them, or peeling them away from your team, depending on who it is. (General Rule is Squishy, Drag them to your team. Everybody eles, drag away.)
Pros / Cons
Pros / Cons
Pros of Skarner:
Not only a tank, not only a damage dealer. He's Flexible.
You have one of the best stuns/interrupt/supress in the game in you ult. You cancel channeled abiltiies with it, and if enemy champions have an ult that moves you, and you ult someone. You drag whoever you ulted WITH you. I've killed many an ADC when a poppy or Tristian ulted me away.
Your W gives you an engage or a disengage, but also a shield, it's extremely flexible.
Cons of Skarner:
Easy to Kite/CC as you have no Dash.
Skarner is fairly squishy early in the game, but has decent damage. So other burst champions tend to reduce to little or no health pre-6.
Skarner is hard to master, to fiqure out when is the right time to go in for the gank.

I'll be looking to get some videos together for you guys in the near future.
Until then, feel free to stop by my twitch, and ask me any questions!
