Threats & Synergies
Akshan
Akshan doesn't do much to Braum. He can dance around you with his grappling hook, but otherwise he does very little to you. Don't let him poke you out, watch for his stealth, and you should be fine to all-in and kill him.
Alistar
Alistar isn't a threat so much as he's a nuisance. Neither one of you will likely be able to kill the other one, so it's likely just going to be a boring lane where you both just hope to beat the enemy. Alistar is more prone to roaming than Braum, though, so make sure to capitalize on the times when Alistar leaves lane.
Annie
Annie is a threat to Braum mostly because it's hard to slot MR into his build. Building Tenacity will help, but she can still burst you or your ADC and there likely wouldn't be anything you could do about it since she can full-rotate someone so fast. But, if you can get a solid all-in on her, you should be able to kill her fairly easily.
Aphelios
Aphelios isn't much of a threat to Braum. He outranges you by quite a bit, especially with his sniper rifle, but he's squishy and has no means of escape. A quick W onto a minion followed by a Q will likely mean a flash or a kill if your ADC is paying attention.
Ashe
Ashe is NOT an easy character to lane into for Braum. She is a source of CONSTANT CC, so she can keep you off of her almost indefinitely. If you can get onto her, you can kill her, but that's not easy to do. Plus, she can zone and poke you with her W, making it even harder.
Bard
Bard is a fairly even lane into Braum. Bard's squishy, but he does a lot of damage. The main problem is Bard's Q. Because of the way Bard's Q stun works, it's not hard for Bard to punish you SEVERELY for trying to jump to your ADC. If you play around his Q, and only try to fight when it's down, you can all-in and kill him, but there are a lot of mind games involved.
Blitzcrank
Blitz isn't too big of a deal, but you definitely need to respect what he can do. He won't want to hook you most of the time, so W-ing in front of your ADC to tank the hook can be a great way to engage a fight that they're not ready for. However, it's just as easy for him to hook your ADC right out from under you and kill them before you can even react. Tread lightly and you should win in theory, though.
Brand
Brand is a HUGE problem in-lane for Braum. Brand's primary poke ability, his W, isn't blocked by Braum's E so you can't protect your ADC from it. In addition, a lot of Brand's abilities burn you for max health damage, so combined with Liandry's he'll shred you late-game. If you're aggressive early and get kills on him you can kind've keep him down, but he'll almost always be useful.
Caitlyn
Another ADC who's a threat primarily because she can hit you from so far away. It's not hard to punish her if she steps out of line, but a good Caitlyn will never get close enough to you for you to hit her.
Draven
Draven isn't really a threat to Braum. He front-loads a lot of his damage, so if you block it with your E and don't let him poke you out, you should be able to all-in and kill him without too much trouble. Just don't let yourself fall too low in his range.
Ezreal
Ezreal isn't a THREAT, per se, he's just more annoying. He can fire off Q's from long range and poke you down, and he can just E out if you try to get too close. With some mind games and bait you can trick him into being out of position but for the most part it's a better idea to just play mindfully and keep him from getting kills.
Janna
Another champion who's not a threat, she's just irritating. Janna can keep you from doing just about everything your kit is designed to do, but if you don't let her poke you out she can't really do anything to you, either. Just don't let her constantly spam her abilities at you and you should be fine. Your E stops her tornado, too.
Jinx
Jinx isn't much of a threat to Braum unless she's just crazy broken at the time or super fed. Your E blocks all of her attacks and abilities, and she doesn't have a way out of the fight. If you all-in her, just make sure you do it on YOUR terms, because if she kills you or the ADC, the other one is basically dead. Otherwise, she shouldn't have too much she can do to you.
Kai'Sa
Kai'sa isn't really a threat to Braum, either. You can block all her abilities, and she also has no way out of the fight. Stack your passive on her and you should just be able to CC and kill her. Just make sure you prioritize her in most fights or she'll stack her passive on you and your ADC and deal a surprising amount of damage all at once.
Kalista
Kalista is a problem for Braum if only because she actually thrives off of you blocking her autos. A good Kalista will hop around you endlessly, stacking spears in you until your E goes down, then she'll Rend you for your entire health bar. If you kill or CC her quickly you MAY be able to resist your fate, but otherwise she'll just devastate your HP.
Karma
Karma doesn't really threaten Braum. Sure, her Mantra'd Q hurts, but it's inconsistent and you should be able to block or dodge it fairly easily. Her shields can be annoying, but if you hard-focus the ADC in a lane 2v2, you should be able to power through her abilities and leave her as easy pickings in the fight.
Kog'Maw
Kog'maw isn't a threat to Braum until late-game, but by that point he's a threat to everyone. He has very little means of fighting you early, so be aggressive, ask for jungle help, and Keep. Him. Down. You should have no problems mitigating all of his early damage.
Leona
Leona isn't necessarily a threat to Braum, though she is a threat to his ADC. Leona's powerful enough to fight most early-game ADC's 1v1, so if you ignore her and try to let your ADC just fight her, they'll probably lose. And while you can block her E with yours, she'll just fly to you and walk past you. Your best bet in most fights against Leona is to throw a Q BEHIND you to try to tag Leo with it after she engages on you, then stand between your ADC and theirs with your E up so that you can both beat up Leona until you can disengage.
Lucian
Lucian can do very little to Braum. Your E blocks everything Lucian does, and essentially renders his R useless (and makes one of my favorite sounds in this game). Just throw up an E and don't let him get too ahead in CS or kills and you should have no trouble beating him.
Lulu
Lulu is another character that isn't a threat to Braum but is a threat to what he DOES. Lulu can't actually do much to kill Braum, but she can stop him from doing just about anything and everything he's trying to do. Just watch for Polymorphs, don't force all-ins, and just try to punish poor positioning and you should be fine.
Lux
Lux isn't much of a threat to Braum, though if she gets ahead she can definitely do damage. Her E slow followed by her Q root isn't easy to dodge, but if you stay close to minions you can W away from it to dodge it. You can also take advantage of the knowledge that her root is down to all-in and kill her, if your ADC is on the same page as you.
Miss Fortune
Another champion that Braum's E renders all but useless. She does a lot of damage, and a good MF can poke you out with well-placed Double-Ups, but if you can get on her you can basically kill her with impunity.
Morgana
Morgana isn't really a threat to Braum. Her root is annoying, but if it's hitting you it means that it isn't hitting your ADC. A good Morgana can block your CC with her E, though, so be mindful of her E cooldown when you're looking for all-in fights.
Nami
Nami isn't a threat to Braum. With the anti-poke runes I describe in this build, she can't poke you out, and your E blocks basically everything she can throw at you, including her R (Braum E stops it cold, it's one of my favorite things to do in this game).
Nautilus
Nautilus can hold you still, which sucks, but if he's holding you still he's not holding your ADC still. His Q is such a huge skillshot that it's not hard to block, and your E blocks both his E and his R. Just be careful not to let him get on your ADC too many times and you should be fine.
Pyke
Pyke is a champion who is a problem not because he can do anything to YOU, but because he can get your ADC easily and there isn't much you can do about it. Your E can stop his E from stunning your ADC, though, which can make a huge difference in lane fights.
Rakan
Rakan isn't a threat to Braum at all. He has no good poke abilities, he can W in and knock you up, but he doesn't have the damage to be able to really affect you in a fight, and then he dashes out to shield his ADC. You probably won't be killing him often unless he's bad, but he won't do much to you in lane.
Rell
Rell is another tank support that wants to engage against you, which Braum normally does really well against. However, Rell can shred your resistances. So be careful in extended fights with her. As long as you only take short trades to wear her down, you should be able to all-in and kill her without too much trouble.
Renata Glasc
Renata is a PROBLEM for Braum. I don't know if it's a bug or if it's intentional, but Braum's E does not block Renata's R. Renata can CC you from a distance, make her ADC stronger than yours, and her W lets her ADC fight for an additional 2 seconds after they die, which can be game-changing in a lane skirmish.
Samira
Samira isn't really a problem for Braum, but she can dash around so much that it can be hard to nail her down sometimes. If you do, though, she's probably dead. Just try to CC her before she reaches max Style and you should be fine.
Senna
Senna isn't much of a threat to Braum. She relies on her scaling to deal damage, so if you're aggressive early and don't let her poke you out you should be able to kill her without too much trouble.
Seraphine
Seraphine isn't a threat to Braum at all. She can poke you, but not much else. If you all-in her she'll probably die. Punish bad positioning, don't eat unnecessary poke, and you should run away with the lane without too much trouble.
Sivir
Sivir is annoying but she can't do much to Braum. Try not to use your Q on her if her spellshield is up but otherwise you should be able to just throw up an E and take her down. The main problem with Sivir is that she scales and her waveclear is good. Try to keep the wave frozen on your side of the lane and you should be able to render her completely useless.
Sona
Another enchanter that can't do anything to Braum. All-in her, kill her, and enjoy rolling around in the piles of gold she donates to your cause.
Soraka
Another champion that can't do anything to Braum. Take Ignite, buy an early Bramble Vest, congratulations, you've won lane against Soraka. Just be careful of her silence on her E keeping you from doing anything and you should be fine.
Swain
Swain is a hard lane for Braum. You can block his root with your E, but it guarantees a root/pull on you. He pokes you hard, and can all-in with his R. You CAN beat him, but best to avoid this matchup where you can. Braum's game plan in this lane is, more often than not, just try to survive and let your ADC farm up into the late game.
Tahm Kench
Another lane that just goes boringly even. There isn't much you two can do against each other. Just try not to stand there and let him get 3 stacks on you and you should be okay. He wins most extended fights, so just take short trades and go for an all-in to punish bad positioning, rather than forcing a fight.
Taric
Another drearily even lane. Neither one of you can do much to the other. I would almost give a slight edge to Taric in this lane, if only because he can heal his ADC and let him sustain through any poke, but for the most part neither side can do much to the other one.
Thresh
Thresh isn't tanky enough and doesn't do enough damage to really be a problem against Braum. If he hooks you and dashes onto you, you can throw up your E and his ADC behind him can't do much. Just make sure you auto him ASAP when he gets onto you and you should be fine.
Tristana
Tristana is a bit more of a problem for Braum than a lot of ADC's, if only because she has so many things that can keep you off of her. Her W has a reset that lets her become REALLY hoppy in later parts of the game, and her R can not only peel you off, it can force you to take a bomb into the rest of your team, if Tristana is good. She's just hard to nail down.
Twitch
Twitch isn't too much of an issue, since you tend to stack armor and your E renders a big part of his ult's effectiveness just...not effective anymore. But if he gets ahead he can shred you with his stacking poison, so tread lightly.
Varus
Varus can't do much to Braum. You can use your E to block his Q and a big chunk of his damage disappears into thin air. But Varus can fight from so far away that it can make him difficult for Braum to get onto sometimes. If you can get hold of him, though, you can almost certainly either kill him or pop a major cooldown.
Vayne
Vayne shreds tanks. Her silver bolts deal true damage, and your E can't block it since it's true damage. Do not engage if you can help it.
Veigar
Veigar sucks to play against as Braum. Veigar can't normally do too much against Braum (especially since you'll rarely be stacking MR), but Veigar's E makes it almost impossible for you to get to your ADC to protect them from just about anything. If you're not careful Veigar will just kill your ADC over and over and you'll be powerless to stop it.
Vel'Koz
Vel'koz can poke Braum out, and a good Vel'koz can get some CRAZY angles on his poke abilities. However, if you dodge them, Braum can just all-in and kill Vel and there isn't much Vel can do about it. Your E does NOT stop Vel's R, though, so be careful.
Xayah
Xayah can be troublesome for Braum if only because, the way her feathers work, the damage and root comes from BEHIND you. Which means that, a lot of the time, you have to make a decision on which direction you want your E to face. If you block the root, she'll pelt you with feathers from the other side. If you block her autos, you get rooted. It's a conundrum. But if you all-in her, you'll either kill her or pop a major cooldown MOST of the time, provided she's not fed.
Yuumi
Yuumi isn't a threat to Braum but she is annoying. She can render an enemy ADC VERY difficult to kill, and your E doesn't stop her R. But, since she'll be attached to her ADC most of the time, there'll only be one target to focus on. Just kill her ADC and she'll be easy pickings.
Zeri
Zeri isn't too much of a threat to Braum. You can block most of her stuff. The only problem is that she's so fast that she can be hard to nail down, and she can steal your Guardian shield. It might be worth it to run something like Aftershock or Glacial Augment into Zeri to avoid accidentally giving her a shield mid-fight.
Zilean
Zilean is a huge problem for Braum. A point-and-click slow that gets up to 99%, bombs that you can't block with your E, and a free revive once every 30-45 seconds? He's just a consistent thorn in Braum's side.
Zyra
Another high-magic-damage support with damage Braum can't block. Your best bet into Zyra is to hunker down, try not to die, try to keep the wave frozen on your side, and do the best you can to starve the enemy ADC of resources, rather than trying to fight. If you try to fight she WILL kill you most of the time.
Akshan
Akshan is alright alongside Braum. He's not anything terribly special with Braum, but the increased attack speed when Akshan grapples makes for a quick and easy stun on your passive. Plus, since he can stealth, you can jump to someone that the enemy doesn't know is there for a cheeky Q engage.
Aphelios
Aphelios is a pretty good match with Braum. Aphel builds Attack Speed, and one of the things Aphelios likes most is when people just stand in his range; something Braum can happily accommodate.
Ashe
Arguably my favorite champion to play alongside as Braum. Ashe has so much built-in CC in her kit that makes her an INCREDIBLE match with Braum. The two of you together are impossible to peel off, and there isn't much that can survive the two of you focusing on the same target.
Caitlyn
Caitlyn is a fine matchup with Braum. She has a ton of range but not a lot of reliable CC to help you engage in-lane. She tends to prefer more of a long-range poke style of gameplay, and Braum is more of a counter-engage and all-in style character. It's not a BAD matchup but neither of you adds anything special to the other.
Draven
Draven isn't necessarily a bad matchup for Braum, but Braum can be a bad matchup for Draven. Draven relies on getting his CS reliably in order to stack his Adoration, and "Relic Shield" supports can interfere with that. You two won't have a BAD lane together, it's just sub-optimal.
Ezreal
Another champion that doesn't really ADD much to the lane, though neither of you take anything away from each other, either. Ezreal prefers a more long-range approach, but he can has a decent all-in if he lands his abilities. Ezreal just generally prefers to stay farther away than Braum tends to encourage.
Jinx
Another excellent ADC to use alongside Braum. Her Attack Speed and Range make her an excellent partner to Braum, the protection he offers lets her scale up like she so desperately wants to, and if you get one kill you'll be proccing stun after stun after stun as she blasts through the competition with Get Excited.
Kai'Sa
See, this one is more of a personal thing. On paper, these two should be a match made in heaven. Kai'sa is an Attack-Speed based character that stacks her autos and has a stealth AND a free shield and engage on her R. But for some reason I never synergize with Kai'sas. If you have a good, reliable Kai'sa, feel free to put her higher on this list, but personal experience tells me this is not a great matchup.
Kalista
Another excellent matchup for Braum. She loves, LOVES, Attack Speed (her hop scales with it) and her ult can let you make MASSIVE plays with a reliable way in OR out. If you have a good Kalista it makes the lane MUCH easier.
Kindred
Don't play Kindred ADC. If you do wind up with a Kindred ADC, she'll have to roam to get her stacks, so I guess follow her and try to set up vision, but this is a terrible bot lane pick and not a great matchup with Braum. She can proc your stun fairly easily, though
Kog'Maw
A hard-scaling Attack Speed character that will endlessly benefit from the protection that Braum is best known for. Keep him safe early, then peel for him late.
Lucian
Another excellent synergy. Lucian can almost instantaneously proc your passive with his, and he can dash forward, giving you a great target for a W engage.
Miss Fortune
MF isn't as Attack Speed-reliant as a lot of other ADC's, but she's not a terrible match. She does still tend to build Attack Speed, and the slow on her E can help you catch slippery opponents. Plus, you can wombo your R with hers to make sure she gets off fat damage in teamfights.
Samira
Another surprisingly good combination with Braum. Braum loves ADC's that can engage the fight on their own, so he can follow Samira into combat and pop off with his full rotation in order to make huge plays. Plus, he can protect Samira from the targeted CC abilities (kind've) that tend to just ruin her fun.
Senna
Decent synergy here, but definitely a farm lane. Senna can Q you to keep you healthy in lane, and the two of you together are EXCELLENT at punishing out-of-position enemies since you can stun them into her root, but Senna's low early Attack Speed can make early fights difficult. Just be patient and this lane will come together in the end.
Seraphine
She's okay with Braum. Same as Senna, she can keep you healed up in lane, but she relies less on auto-attacks. The two of you together are INCREDIBLY annoying to play against, though.
Sivir
Another simple, safe ADC that can protect themselves in lane an has an easy engage ability. Sivir is perfectly happy switching from waveclear to all-in, and her R makes an effective engage tool. Sivir/Braum is a very safe lane, albeit not terribly exciting.
Tristana
Safe, fast attack speed, massive attack range late game, and easy to engage with. What else could Braum ask for?
Twitch
Twitch is an okay match for Braum. High attack speed and stealth make it easy for Twitch to proc Braum's passive, but Braum can accidentally give away Twitch's position. Not a bad lane, it just requires a little more coordination than some others.
Varus
Strong engage with Varus's R, but Varus has so much build versatility that if he's not building Attack Speed then he can lose some synergy with Braum.
Vayne
Vayne can tumble forward to start fights, but her low attack range can make it difficult for Braum to keep her safe in a fight. But the damage and self-peel that she has mitigates that weakness enough to make her a worthwhile partner.
Xayah
Xayah and Braum are a solid combination. Xayah's Attack Speed steroid lets her proc Braum's passive faster and follow it up with a massive, high-damage root. It's no Xayah and Rakan, but it's effective.
Zeri
Zeri works fine with Braum. Nothing special. Her "Auto" on her Q procs your passive just like any other auto. She is very useful into lanes with enchanters like Janna or Lulu, though.
