Introduction
Firstly, I would like to say a few words about why I decided to write a new Teemo guide, when there are so many excellent guides for Teemo on Mobafire.
(By the way this guide is addressed to people who already know basic information about Teemo and his abilities).
Teemo is not an obvious pick for mid, except you are trying to counter some AD miders, but the hamster has much more potential standing mid than it seems for a first view.
Although, Teemo has no normal escapes, his
Move Quick gives him much skillshot dodging potential which is very useful when you play vs
Lux,
Syndra,
Brand,
Ahri,
Taliyah and many other AP miders.
Teemo's low range is recouped by the fact that his
Toxic Shot and
Blinding Dart are target abilities, so you don't have to think how to catch your enemy with them, just get in range and strike.
Teemo's
Noxious Trap is an extremely useful thing not only to ward the jungle, but also to clear minion waves, prevent enemies from escape and deal them massive damage by putting the shroom on a minion wave near an enemy champion. Also
Noxious Trap can be putted near a tower or on the minions way to allow you to gank other lanes. And of course it gives great advantage in teamfights.
Moreover, I always hear when I pick Teemo top things like "can we have a tanky top please?" and so on and I thing that there is some sence there but, if you pick
Teemo mid you shouldn't care about that.
Teemo mid is very hard to counter due to things brought up here, but also because this build is very flexible - even dealing with a hard lane you have options not only to survive, but also to win the lane.
I also like that Teemo mid is more difficult to gank then on top. Mid is much more little and the path to escape is much shorter.
There are very much points why Teemo mid is a good idea just give it a try or if you failed earlier get a new view on this tactics!
Now I will try to explain the components of the build.

As for the summoners spells I thing
Flash and
Ignite are most optimal.
Due to lack of escape skills
Flash is most obvious for Teemo. I don't recommend replacing it with
Ghost
Well that's the classical combination of stacking periodical damage
Toxic Shot +
Noxious Trap +
Ignite. I find it very useful. Especially at the start, when you can grab the first blood with aa +
Blinding Dart +
Flash + aa +
Ignite combo (about that - later).
Ignite is also greatly combined with Guerilla Warfare

I consider that seals and quintessences should give splat AP for early burst, as well as glyphs and marks should bring magic penetration, which combines well with
Precision and
Sorcerer's Shoes and give us 30 magic penetration, which is exactly the amount of MR that most of the AP miders have. That makes nice burst in the early game.
You can also use splat AP glyphs and marks for a starting 36 (!) AP bonus.
I thing that you should not take some additional MR or armor runes, because this build includes some defensive options from items.

Though the build doesn't give you the highest Teemo DPS, it gives you pretty good burst, that's why we take
Thunderlord's Decree
.
We have already said about
Precision, Of course we take
Dangerous Game
for sustain and
Merciless
for more damage.
Bounty Hunter
is more useful for late game but I prefer taking
Battle Trance
.
Feast and
Vampirism
are needed for sustain, don't change it for anything else.

We have already said about

For squishy foes I take
Blinding Dart first. If you want to get first blood you should try to poke your opponent with q at the first level and it would be easy to get him with the combo aa +
Blinding Dart +
Flash + aa +
Ignite at level 2. That works not always and you should chose the right moment to attack. Remember that with this combo you lose both of your summoners spells, If you are not sure how to act, take
Toxic Shot first and play safe.
If you succeeded with getting the kill or if you feel that you can kill the enemy on level 5 try, to get 3 points in
Blinding Dart to that point for more burst damage.
After level 6 get 3 points into
Toxic Shot and then chose what to max first depending on the situation. If there are many squishes in the enemy team - max
Blinding Dart, if no - max
Toxic Shot.

At start I take
Doran's Ring and 2 poitons. With full splat AP runes you will have 51 AP on level 1 (and 50 AD ;)) Or 36 AP if you have Magic Penetration marks and glyphs.
At the first back (actually at the second if you play aggressive) get
Catalyst of Aeons. This thing gives us some sustain with 225 health and 15% damage reduction.
Also + 300 mana is useful for Teemo, especially if you spam
Blinding Dart often. This thing refunds 20% of used mana as health, but not more than 15 (25 from
Rod of Ages bonus) - not very much but it's also gives some sustain.
After
Catalyst of Aeons take
Sorcerer's Shoes for more damage and the first core item -
Rod of Ages. This thing saves the bonuses of
Catalyst of Aeons and only for 2700 gold that gives us up to 500 hp, 400 mp and 100 AP. That will give us really good sustain to survive
Katarina's,
Veigar's or even
Annie's combos.
The second core item is
Nashor's Tooth, which heavily increases Teemo's damage. Don't forget that hamster is an attack speed champion - if you don't get AS you will have much problems with tanky champions.
Nashor's Tooth also helps in teamfights making your autoattack much stronger - Teemo'a autoattack is his main damage when you fight 5 on 5.
The 3-rd core item is
Hextech Gunblade. I suppose those who have experience in building Teemo will also say that this is an extremely great sustain and burst item for Teemo.
Healing for 15% damage dealt, massive AP and AD bonuses, longranged active ability - all this makes gunblade very useful for Teemo. You will just explode your enemies with
Hextech Gunblade +
Blinding Dart +
Toxic Shot combo (don't forget that
Thunderlord's Decree
works on the 3-rd attack - now we must not make 2 aa to activate it).
If by some reason you can't get
Nashor's Tooth as the second item and instead you buy some defensive thing like
Spirit Visage and have a lack of attack speed take
Berserker's Greaves instead of
Sorcerer's Shoes.
With these 3 things you will have a very nice sustain and damage. After that point you can take whatever you usually take on AP Teemo.
I recommend to take
Zhonya's Hourglass As another sustain item which also brings some damage. Or if you feel uncomfortable vs heavy AP champions, get
Abyssal Mask or
Wit's End.
It may be efficient to take
Spectre's Cowl in addition to
Catalyst of Aeons when you have got a hard lane. That's nice when you deal with
Vladimir,
Cassiopeia or
Veigar and others heavy damaging or sustainable mids. If you build
Spirit Visage some time later and feel lack of damage - take
Guinsoo's Rageblade - with
Nashor's Tooth and
Hextech Gunblade this will bring suffering.
You can take both Armour and MR granting items.
Rabadon's Deathcap is a nice finishing item, but I actually thing that it doesn't really needed. With only 500 ap with this build your damage will be already insane even without it.
If you like AS Teemo builds, you can even replace boots with
Guinsoo's Rageblade or
Runaan's Hurricane.
I know that some of you would ask if we could replace
Rod of Ages with
Liandry's Torment and I say yes, of course, but only in the late game. At the start
Rod of Ages brings much more sustain than the mask and I don't recommend you to take
Liandry's Torment as a first item (This is a Teemo mid, not Teemo top guide).
As usual with Teemo don't be afraid to experiment and share the results with me please.

Playing Teemo mid remember that this is not top ;)
Gank your alies if possible,
keep wards in the bushes and try to shroom only one side of the line to escape easily.
You won't have much cooldown at start so don't try to shroom all the lane and jungle nearby.
Don't be afraid to push lanes with
Noxious Trap if you are sure that you are safe.
Don't go in 1 vs 1 combats unless you are sure that nobody can help your enemy.
The most important thing is to learn to dodge skillshots and kite.
