Introduction
Hi, I'm Tri! I've been playing League for three years, and I specialize in supports and niche junglers, such as Ivern or Bard. Ivern is a truly unique support, in both design and character, who is an absolute joy to play and a worthy addition to the lineup of either a Jungler looking to learn the more peaceful side of nature or a Support who wants to get up close and personal.
I also run Skin+ on YouTube, where I create voicepacks for various skins.

If you'd like to download the Item Set seen above and import it into your own client, click here. Simply go to the "Items" tab in your "Collections" window in the League client, and click "Import". Select "Evelynn- TricolorStar's Build.json", and voila!
Ivern is a unique and special blend of Support and Jungler, with an incredibly strange and very different way of approaching things. Ivern's kit has a strong emphasis on protecting allies, starting teamfights, and tricky interactions.
The ways you can build Ivern are almost infinite. He is very similar to Bard in that respect, as both of their kits lend themselves to lots of potential when it comes to item builds or rune loadouts. However, this guide will be discussing the tried-and-true 'Support-Jungler' Ivern, the way he was intended to be played. That being said, there will be hints and small sections in this guide highlighting other Ivern strategies, such as classic in-lane Support Ivern or even on-hit Ivern.
Once, long ago, Ivern was a cruel, cold war leader. After felling the God-Willow and becoming imbued with its powers, he learned of the beauty and wonder of nature, the various cycles and delicate balance holding it all together. He turned a new leaf, one could say. Now, he is the Greenfather, a giving, optimisitc, and extremely friendly presence to those who would accept his help. However, he is not above defending his home, and will quickly become thorny to those who take from nature and give nothing back.
PROS & CONS

"We are all connected in the strangest ways!"- IvernWhen you pick Ivern, it's because you are more interested in helping your team grow than securing glory for yourself. Although he is a heavy-handed playmaker and can give your team huge benefits from his buff-sharing and CC potential, Ivern is just here to give your teammates what they need to win the game./center]
ABILITY OVERVIEW
Friend of the Forest
- Growth Takes Time: Upon clicking a camp, Ivern places a magical Grove around them. After a certain amount of time, which scales down with level, Ivern may return to the camp to free them after the Grove has matures, granting him the same experience and gold it would have normally. Alternatively, Ivern can opt to use Smite on a Grove to free the camp instantly. Taking damage while channeling interrupts this passive and puts it on a short cooldown.
- Pacifist: Ivern is unable to attack or damage jungle camps, nor will they attack him. However, he is still able to interact wit them via Rootcaller.
- Beyond Saving: Ivern's passive does not apply to Baron Nashor, Rift Herald, Elemental Drakes, or Elder Drake. They will still attack him, and he is unable to place a Grove around them.
- Sharing is Caring: After reaching Level 5, any buffs (such as Red Buff or Blue Buff) that Ivern frees via his passive leave behind a copy of that buff that allies may pick up by walking near them. If an ally kills Red Buff or Blue Buff, a copy of that buff is left for Ivern in turn.
This passive is what makes Ivern who he is. By being able to by-pass cleartimes entirely, Ivern can steal an opponent's buff, share buffs with allies, and jungle faster and more efficiently than anyone on the Rift. The Pacifist component of this passive means that he will never aggro jungle camps, so use that to your advantage if you get invaded!

In this clip, I demonstrate a typical first clear as Ivern, including enemy Red buff steal using a combination of Friend of the Forest and Smite.
Rootcaller
Ivern tosses out a magical vine in a line, rooting the first enemy minion, champion, or monster hit.
Ability Insight:
- Helping Hand: An ally (or Daisy!) can click a rooted target to instantly be pulled into their attack range, granting them a dash towards to CC'd target. Be warned, some champions have abilities that modify their attack range, and thus their pull range from [[Rootcaller] can change as well.
- Zoop!: Be recasting this ability, Ivern can pull himself to the target or follow them over walls. If Rootcaller hits a jungle camp, Ivern can still pull himself to them, allowing for easy mobility or escapes.
Rootcaller is Ivern's main form of CC, and it an extremely potent tool during ganks. The length and width of the missile is quite large and Helping Hand component grants low-mobility teammates an easy way to join the fray!

Brushmaker
Ivern summons a patch of brush onto the Rift.
Ability Insight:
- Natural Gift: If Ivern enters any brush, natural or from Brushmaker, he gains bonus damage and range on his basic attacks.
- Peekaboo: Brushmaker grants a few seconds of Vision around the area of the bush that has been created.
- Natural Selection: Brushmaker bushes function exactly like regular bushes, and will activate Teemo's Guerrilla Warfare or Rengar's Unseen Predator, whether or not they are on your team.
- Miracle Grow: If Brushmaker is cast near existing bushes or walls, more bushes will sprout to connect them.
This ability is one of the more unique ones in League of Legends. Toss your mid laner a few bushes near their turret as you cross between the east and west jungle so they have a safe place to retreat if they need it.
You can also use the bushes to scout for enemies since the cast radius is quite large and it grants vision for a few moments around the sprouted bushes.
This ability is also very useful for sieging, as you can set up a thicket of bushes in front of an enemy turret, and if you're out of the radius of the turret, you'll deny them vision of your team as you siege them.
And finally, the bonus damage from Natural Gift is very useful and counts as an on-hit effect for items like Guinsoo's Rageblade and Frozen Mallet.
Triggerseed
- Bristles & Thorns: At the end of the abililty's duration, Triggerseed explodes, dealing damage and slowing all enemies in an area. This explosion does not occur if the shield is 'popped', or depleted before the duration has expired. Any kills caused by the explosion are granted to the ally who received the shield.
A very straight-forward shield ability, with a twist! The explosion damage and slow is perfect for dealing bonus damage or slowing down fleeing enemies. Cast it on Daisy! as she enters the fray to set up some massive CC-combos.

In this clip, I save a foolish Swain from certain death with a quick Triggerseed. Don't be stingy, shield your friends!
Daisy!
Ivern tags in his friendly golem buddy, Daisy!. Daisy! is a controllable A.I pet, similar to Annie's Summon: Tibbers.
Ability Insight:
- Daisy Stampede: Daisy! can be tethered to an enemy using CTRL+R, and she will attempt to chase that enemy down as long as they are in range. She can also be tethered to Ivern and will attack whoever he attacks.
- Huggable: If Daisy! successfully lands 3 auto-attacks, the third will knock up her target and all enemies behind them for a distance. There is a short cooldown before she can knock them up again.
- Tag-In: Daisy! is able to leap over walls and appear out of the fog of war during her casting animation. She will also prioritize enemy champions rooted by Rootcaller.
Bring Daisy! in when things start to heat up. Combo her with ally CC, or your own. She can knock-up multiple people at once, and can be ordered to focus a particular enemy. Always make sure she is prioritizing a troublesome ADC or slippery assassin so she keeps them busy.
Fun fact: Blue Buff and Daisy will dance if Ivern dances!
Daisy! is affected by the heal from Redemption, and can be shielded by Triggerseed.

PRIMARY
Sorcery offers Ivern many different options, all of which synergize with his kit. Although, if you want, you can swap Inspiration in as your Primary tree. It all depends on how you play.
KEYSTONE
Arcane Comet is not a very good choice, since Ivern will not normally be directly engaging in combat unless forced.
Phase Rush is worthless, since Ivern lacks the up-front damage to trigger it.
SLOT 1: ARTEFACT
Nullifying Orb and Manaflow Band are pretty useless since Ivern is not in combat with enemies for most of the game.
SLOT 2: EXCELLENCE
Celerity has been changed, so it is no longer a good choice on Ivern.
Absolute Focus is rendered useless early game thanks to the health/mana cost from Friend of the Forest, so you typically won't take this one.
SLOT 3: POWER
Scorch, while not terrible, is not as good as Waterwalking since Ivern does not usually engage in direct combat. The same goes for Gathering Storm.
SECONDARY
Ivern's secondary Rune tree is incredibly versatile. Mix and match them as you see fit, as many other trees fit, like Resolve ( Bone Plating / Revitalize) and Domination ( Ultimate Hunter / Cheap Shot). Spread your roots, there's lots of room to grow!SLOT 2: TOMMOROW
If you take Biscuit Delivery, be sure to take Time Warp Tonic in your 3rd slot to extend their duration and give you some nice bonus movement speed.
Minion Dematerializer is useless, since Ivern is spending most of his time making friends in the jungle.
SLOT 3: BEYOND
Cosmic Insight is a good flat CDR rune that is a great choice all-around.
Time Warp Tonic synergizes with Waterwalking, Nimbus Cloak, and Biscuit Delivery, creating a perfect quartet.
In general, Ivern is incredibly versatile. Take Sorcery, Inspiration, Resolve, whatever you'd like as your primary, and whatever you'd like as your secondary. If it works for you, it works. Nourish your creativity and let it grow!
"One day, I'll root in place... and be everywhere."
- Ivern
Ivern is a versatile champion, with an emphasis on support and utility items. Although you can build him AP, Attack Speed, Tank, or however you'd like, my favorite (and the most socially acceptable) route is wandering support Ivern.
Ivern's main strength comes from a combination of Triggerseed and Rootcaller.
Ivern is not in need of a complete jungle item, but if you'd like to build one, follow your dreams!
Athene's Unholy Grail converts damage dealt to enemy champions into a heal that is distributed to the target of Triggerseed, allowing Ivern to turn fights around.
Mobility Boots is great on Ivern, especially if you're using the Movement Speed Quintet discussed above. If they're not your style, you can opt for Ionian Boots of Lucidity instead.
Redemption is a staple on supports due to the AoE heal/damage zone. Your team will thank you!
Locket of the Iron Solari is an amazing anti-burst weapon that provides a chunky, team-wide shield to prevent pesky Zed]'s and [[Evelynn's from cutting your team's life short.
Knight's Vow and Zeke's Convergence are excellent "connection" items that provide extra protection and damage to a favored team member (usually the squishiest one) and are very viable additions to your build.
Shurelya's Battlesong is excellent for the team-wide bonus movespeed for re-positioning or escape purposes. The extra AP doesn't hurt, either!
Ardent Censer is my personal favorite, since the increased attack speed it provides to the shield-er and shield-ee (plus the life-drain effect) is wonderful.
Expand your horizons and experiment with some tank items, like Gargoyle Stoneplate or Adaptive Helm, or add some damage with a Nashor's Tooth or Wit's End. Ivern would want you to!
Flash is essential on most champions, and Ivern is no different. Smite allows for Ivern to claim camps instantly through Friend of the Forest, but you can forego it for Ghost or Ignite if you want to work with Unsealed Spellbook.
