Who Am I/ Who Is Corki/Why Play Him.

Hello! I'm known for by 3 names, Warteck or my username for Mobafire, nuttychocholate which is my League Of Legends username, and Lucas which is the name on my birth certificate! This is my third posted guide to Mobafire, first was Udyr, then LeBlanc, and now Corki!

Corki also known as The Daring Bombardier got his title when Heimerdinger and his yordle colleagues migrated to Piltover, they embraced science as a way of life, and they immediately made several groundbreaking contributions to the techmaturgical community. What yordles lack in stature, they make up for with industriousness. Corki, the Daring Bombardier, gained his title by test-piloting one of these contributions - the original design for the Reconnaissance Operations Front-Line Copter, an aerial assault vehicle which has become the backbone of the Bandle City Expeditionary Force (BCEF). Together with his squadron - the Screaming Yipsnakes - Corki soars over Valoran, surveying the landscape and conducting aerial acrobatics for the benefit of onlookers below.

Corki is the most renowned of the Screaming Yipsnakes for remaining cool under fire and exhibiting bravery to the point of madness. Before the League, he served several tours of duty, often volunteering for missions that would take him behind enemy lines, either gathering intelligence or delivering messages through hot zones. He thrived on danger, and enjoyed nothing more than a good dogfight in the morning. More than just an ace pilot, Corki also made several modifications to his copter, outfitting it with an arsenal of weapons which some speculate were more for show than functionality. When open hostilities ceased as part of the agreement surrounding the formation of the League, Corki was forced into a retirement, which he felt ''cut the engines and clipped the wings''. He tried to make do with stunt flying and canyon running, but it was never the same without the refreshing smell of gunpowder streaking through the air around him. When Heimerdinger joined the League of Legends, it was no surprise to see Corki follow soon after, eager to test his mettle against the best the world has to offer.

Now onto reasoning. Why play Corki? Well There are a couple very good things about him, such as his AoE ability's! Corkis Phosphorus Bomb, Valkyrie, Gatling Gun, and Missile Barrage are all area of effect ability's which I will get into later. Also at this time he is one of the best ranged attack damage carry with Graves and Ezreal up there. His ability to let him get in and out of teamfights so easily is unlike Graves or Ezreal. His Valkyrie is his get away move, which is why you should take a point in it early but not max it until level 18. Now enough about this, I am very pleased to welcome you to This Is Major Tom To Ground Control: A Ranked Guide To Corki!

Preferred Masteries.

This mastery build is probably the most common but also the best mastery build for Corki 21/9/0, for the most damage output you can have plus good survivability.

The extremely vital masteries you should have are Weapon Expertise , Sunder , and Hardiness . Armor pen is very good on Corki, it works in well with his passive Hextech Shrapnel Shells which gives him more true damage, plus with armor pen masteries it gives him even more true damage. Also usually in bottom lane which is usually where Corki plays with a support you go against more ad carry's such as Graves, so the extra armor might just save your life.

Other Viable Masteries.

This Mastery build is not completely for ranked, it is for build 2 taking a point in improved ignite and flash, also giving you good amounts of mana regen for Corki's early game. Again the extremely vital masteries you should have are Weapon Expertise , Sunder , and Hardiness . For the armor pen which again works well with your passive to give you even more true damage, also the extra armor gives you more lane sustain!

Runes.

Runes

  • Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage: A good choice with Corki if you want to put out as much damage as possible being an ad carry you usually do.
  • Greater Mark Of desolation: As I said in the mastery build armor pen works great with his passive which gives you true damage, this just gives you even more true damage!
  • Greater Glyph of Magic Resist: This is great for sustain in lane, if you are against an attack damage champion it helps alot against them.
  • Greater Seal of Armor: This is also great for sustain in lane, if you are against an ability power champ or an ad caster such as Ezreal it helps.

The Spells.

Now, what summoner spells will give you the best chance to play a great corki. For me in ranked, I usually go with Cleanse and Flash. Also the summoner spells that I crossed out in the picture above, are the summoner spell that you NEVER for any reason take in ranked.

Removes all disables and summoner spell debuffs affecting your champion and lowers the duration of incoming disables by 65% for 3 seconds. (Does not remove the healing reduction from ignite) 210 second cooldown.

Mastery Bonus: Increases duration of disable reduction by 1 second.

This summoner spell is great for corki, it just really helps him get out of tough situations, such as if you have a Children of the Grave on you and you have something like 4 health left and you are about to die, pop cleanse and it will save your life!

Teleports your champion toward your cursor's location. 265 second cooldown.

Mastery Bonus: Reduces cooldown by 15 seconds.

This is also another great summoner spell for Corki, they just nerfed him making the cooldown on his Valkyrie longer so this should eliminate anytime that Valkyrie is on cooldown!

Ignites target enemy unit, dealing 70-410 true damage (depending on champion level) over 5 seconds and reduces healing effects on the target for the duration. 180 second cooldown.

Mastery bonus: Increases Ability Power and Attack Damage by 5 while on cooldown.

This is also a very good summoner spell for Corki, as you can see in build 2 I use ignite, the only change when using ignite is to not buy Guardian Angel and buy Quicksilver Sash, which can be activated to remove all debuffs from you such as slows, stuns etc.

Other Viable Summoner Spells.

Exhausts target champion, reducing their Movement Speed by 40%, attack damage dealt by 70%, and ability and item damage dealt by 35% for 2.5 seconds. 210 second cooldown.

A good spell but usually you should ask your support to get it.

Restores 100-570 Health (depending on champion level) to your champion and 50% of that to nearby allies. 270 second cooldown.

Also a good spell usually good for early game, good for luring people and then healing at the last second.

Your champion ignores unit collision and has 27% increased Movement Speed for 10 seconds. 210 second cooldown.

A good spell for getting away if you don't take Flash take this for a quick get away.

After casting for 4 seconds, teleports your champion to target allied minion, turret, or ward. 300 second cooldown.

Good for getting around the map could possibly save your turret or your peer.

What Are My Ability's?

This is one of the most important section, Corki's ability's and what to max first, second, third, and last.

Phosphorus Bomb (Q Ability) - Corki fires a flash bomb at a target location. This attack reveals non-stealthed units around the blast and champions for 6 seconds.
Deals 80/130/180/230/280 (+0.5) magic damage to enemies in a target area. In addition, the blast reveals the area and champions hit by the blast for 6 seconds (does not reveal stealth).
Cost 80/90/100/110/120 Mana
Range 600

Valkyrie (W Ability) - Corki surges to target location, dropping bombs that create a trail of destruction for opponents who remain in the fire.
Corki surges to target location, dealing 60/90/120/150/180 (+0.4) magic damage per second to enemies in the fire left along his path.
Cost 100 Mana
Range 800

Gatling Gun (E Ability) - Corki's gatling gun rapidly fires in a cone in front of him, dealing damage and reducing enemy armor.
Corki's gatling gun fires at all targets in front of him for 4 seconds, dealing 20/32/44/56/68 (+0.4) physical damage and reducing 2/4/6/8/10 armor per second. The armor reduction stacks and lasts 2 seconds.
Cost 60/70/80/90/100 Mana
Range 0

Missile Barrage (Ultimate) - Corki fires a missile toward his target location that explodes on impact, dealing damage to enemies in an area. Corki stores one missile every 10 seconds up to 7 missiles total. Every 4th missile will be a Big One, dealing extra damage.
Corki fires a missile toward his targeted location that will collide with the first enemy it hits. Each missile deals 120/190/260 (+0.2) (+0.3) area magic damage.

Corki stores one missile every 10.0 seconds up to 7 missiles at any given time.

Every 4th missile will be a Big One, dealing 50% extra damage.
Cost 30/35/40 Mana Cost
Range 1225

Hextech Shrapnel Shells (Passive) - Corki's basic attacks deal 10% additional true damage to minions, monsters, and champions.

As I said before, all of these ability's are AoE ability's except for Corki's passive of course. The only skill shot ability of Corki's is this ultimate or [[missile barrage][, I suggest putting it on smart cast so you can put off as many as you can when you have to as fast as you can! This may take some getting used to but it is definitely worth it!

What To Max First.

Of course, the thing you always want to upgrade first is your ultimate as quickly as possible, unfortunately you may only upgrade it at level 6/11/16. Now for Corki the thing you want to do is put out as much damage as you can, that being said you want to upgrade your phosphorous bomb immediately. Some people say you should upgrade your Gatling Gun first, but Gatling Gun when maxed only deals 272 flat damage after a course of 4 seconds, as for Phosphorus Bomb it deals a flat amount of 280 damage. This is also great if you need a quick burst at the end of a fight so you do not have to wait 4 seconds and possibly die.

Now, as for the second maxing, you want to max Gatling Gun. Maxing Gatling Gun is a great tool for teamfights. By the time you have it maxed or almost have it maxed, teamfights should be starting to occur more often. This is a great AoE damage tool, it reduces armor up to -10 armor when fully maxed per second. Which can be great for your team and you to put in even more damage onto the enemy team giving you the advantage.

After maxing Phosphorus Bomb and Gatling Gun you can only max one more ability which is Valkyrie, this ability is mainly based on getting away, which is why you take a point in it at level 2, for quick get away's. You should never use this in a teamfight for damage, you should only use it if you are getting focused and you need to get out.

Max Missile Barrage as fast as possible, nuff said. It is your ultimate and you ALWAYS upgrade your ultimate whenever you can, unless you are someone like Udyr or Jayce and you can learn your ultimate at level 1! But with Corki this is not the case, you must upgrade your ultimate right at level 6/11/16.

Now for a brief sum up of the ability sequence. Take Phosphorus Bomb at level 1 for damage output if you get in a fight at level 1 or to get vision on your opponent. Next at level 2 take a point in Valkyrie for mobility, if you are getting in a fight that you cant win it will save your life. At level 3 take another point in Phosphorus Bomb for more damage output. At level 4 get Gatling Gun and usually try to initiate a fight then if you are doing alright. Next upgrade your Phosphorus Bomb first which will finish maxing at level 9 while taking a point in Missile Barrage at level 6. Next upgrade your Gatling Gun which will finish at level 13 while putting another point in your ultimate at level 11. Finally max Valkyrie last which will take you until level 18 also taking your last point in Missile Barrage at level 16!

Item Build & Explanations.

Starting Items

These give a bit of lifesteal, damage, and health. Perfect for Corki especially the damage, it doesn't seem like much damage, but it is perfect for farming and poking!
Gives you speed to dodge skill shots and have a chance in running/chasing. Great for Corki, it helps him catch up to his opponents if he needs to get another attack in to finish them off!

Which Boots?

These are the boots you should always get! These give you 20% attack speed plus extra movement speed. They are great for an attack damage carry!

Laning Phase

Gives you +45 Attack Damage. Which is great for attack damage carry's, your job is to get as much damage as possible, and if fed enough you can get it early which is amazing when playing Corki.
This item is also great when playing Corki, giving you 10 life steal can sometimes save your life, also if you get focused down hard in lane, you can sustain by just basic attacking minions.
This is if you are wanting to rush Trinity Force first instead of Infinity Edge as you can see in my second build. This can work well, it gives you more attack speed and movement speed which can benefit Corki drastically!

Primary Damage Items.

SPACE Being an attack damage carry you need to build as much damage as possible. That being said usually people go with the most attack damage item in the game the Infinity Edge. Those people are smart! Although, playing Corki, you can have specific choices. Either putting out as much damage as possible with the Infinity Edge or putting out burst damage with Trinity Force.

Buying the Infinity Edge is a great choice when playing as Corki, it gives you an additional 80 Attack Damage, 25 Critical Strike Chance. And also its passive makes it so you have +50% critical strike damage. This can drastically increase your damage output which is critical on Corki. If you are planing on buying the Infinity Edge, get B. F. Sword first, next, depending on your personal choice, I like to get Pickaxe for even more damage and finish off with buying Cloak of Agility and then finally buying Infinity Edge.
SPACE Buying Trinity Force with Corki can also be a great choice! It gives you a lot of different stats which are 30 Ability Power, 30 Attack Damage, 30 Attack Speed, 15 Critical Strike Chance, 250 Health, 250 Mana, 12 Movement Speed Multiplier. UNIQUE Passive: 25% chance on hit to slow the target by 35% for 2.5 seconds; on cast, increases your base Attack Damage by 150% for one attack. 2 second cooldown. Does not stack with Sheen or Lich Bane. The last passive is very important for Corki, this is what you really want when buying Trinity Force. After you cast a spell your next basic attack will do bonus damage! This is great for corki, especially when you have alot of attack damage late game. It also gives you other stats which can benefit Corki very much!
SPACE I suggest either getting Infinity Edge first or Trinity Force first. For your second item, you should get Bloodthirster, giving you 60 Attack Damage, 12 Life Steal. Also its passive lets you gain an additional 1 Physical Damage and 0.2% Lifesteal per kill. Maximum of +40 Damage and 8% Lifesteal. Bonuses are halved upon death. This is great for Corki just get 40 creep kills, and your set with an extra 40 damage and 8% life steal!
SPACE For your last damage item you should buy Last Whisper. This gives you 40 Attack Damage. also its passive gives you +40% Armor Penetration. This is an amazing item on Corki. The reason that this is the last item to buy is because usually if you are fed enough this will be the time when your enemies will be stacking armor. Also if they are not getting armor, you will get bonus true damage! Which works in great with your passive, masteries, and runes!

Defensive Items.

SPACE This is a great defensive item giving you 68 Armor, 38 Magic Resistance. And of course its famous passive revives your Champion upon death, restoring 750 Health and 375 Mana. This effect can only occur once every 5 minutes. This is a very popular defensive item especially with attack damage carry's. This gives you a mix of armor and magic resist, which is a always great to have! But the passive is really what you want, so if you are being focused and you cant get alot of damage in when in a team fight, you can come back to life with health and mana to put out even more damage!
SPACE This is also a great defensive item when playing Corki. This gives you 48 Magic Resistance. Also its passive removes all debuffs from your champion. 90 second cooldown. Giving you 48 magic resist is always good, but its passive is what you really want! When you are not using Cleanse get this! If you have a slow of a stun on it, it acts as a Cleanse and gets you out of tight situations! Get this only if you are not rolling with Cleanse!
SPACE The only reason you'd get this is if a Veigar or LeBlanc is REALLY fed, or if that Gragas is wittling your health to 40% every time he pokes. This item gives you 375 Health, 50 Magic Resistance, 375 Mana. And of course its passive blocks one negative spell every 45 seconds. The passive is alright, it can sav your life from a Karthus ult or an Ezreal ult, but I suggest not getting it normally!

Don't forget, when you are buying your defensive item, remember to look for
  • Armor
  • Magic Resist
  • Smart passives consisting on the game and how it is being played
  • Possible health
  • Look at the other team and see if they are all or a lot are ap or ad.
  • Offensive capability's

Laning Advice & Tips.

Corki is perfect for the roll of attack damage carry for several main reasons.
  • His AoE damage is a great poke.
  • He can farm amazingly early and late game.
  • He has good amounts of true damage.
  • You can burst down your targets quickly.
  • His Valkyrie is an amazing escape tool.
  • Can easily hold off a pushed lane or push a lane back.
  • You can reveal your enemy's in the fog of war with your Q.
  • And last, Phreak said that Corki is a good attack damage carry.

Hear are some other tips, when you are in the early levels of laning.

For early laning, help your jungler with his buff or protecting his other buff incase of an invade on it. FARM FARM FARM! Last hit as much as possible, last hitting is key when playing an ad carry. Also poke your enemys when you can with an auto attack or two, or maybe even an ability. Do not push to far incase of an early gank from the enemy jungler. Especially if they have a Rengar, Lee Sin, Olaf, Shaco jungle who are all very very strong early game jungle.
General Tips.
Keep a higher cs then the enemy ad carry.
Conserve mana if you can.
Try to keep the minions in the middle so you do not push to far.
Use potions healthily.

Now, when you are about level 6/9 and you have your ult, now is the real time to start ingaging and pokeing your enemy. First I suggest pushing your lane really hard and poking your enemy with all of your ability's and then going back, hopefully your enemy will go back due to lack of health or mana aswell. When you come back keep farming as usual and poking your enemy. When you see your opening, ping your support to follow you and engage on them by going up to them and unloading on them with everything. If you are losing the engage just use your w and get out of there!

Keep farming! Farming is extreamly key on an ad carry. Usually for a combo for farming, I use missle barrage twice and Phosphorus Bomb it usually takes out a bunch of them if they are all grouped up!
General Tips.
Keep higher cs then enemy.
Watch for ganks
Try to stay on top of trades!
CALL MIA.

For level 10+ just keep getting items and trying to push turrets down! KEEP FARMING, I cannot stand when an ad carry only has like 56 farm at the end of a 35 minute game. They should have something like 240 farm! Unless there was a lot of team fights. But farming is so important and so much more easy late game! Counter jungle as much as possible! Take their buffs, take dragon, take their wraiths, take their wolves, take their golems, it screws them over so bad! Possibly ward, wards win games! Instead of yelling at your support for not warding, ask them nicely and tell them that you will help with the warding, also ask your whole team to buy a ward or two. Other then that, GET KILLS AND WIN!

Good support matchups.

Of course, without a good support, you are basically screwed! This is how I choose my support when I am supporting and advising the person supporting. [img=]

Just a little tip for helping you, obviously because of that picture you can see that Leona is the best support with corki, and they are correct. Because Corki has so much AoE damage, Leona's stuns are so strong with him because it sets them in place for his AoE damage. Also the second best support for Corki is Sona. Sona is such a good support early and late for everyone, if you have a good Sona, her late game presence is so stong it is unbelievable. Her ult can really set up a good kill with Corki's AoE damage. And of course Blitzcrank. His Rocket Grab is so strong if he lands it, plus his Power Fist is a crazy combo, especially with corki because of his AoE damage. He can sometimes be hard to play and get grabs which is why he is the third pick. But, there ya have it, something for support players and who is good with corki.

Questions? Comments? Things You Liked/Didn't?

Go ahead, ask right away, I love to receive questions! I really do not mind answering them, so please ask away!

I don't ask that you like my guide, but I really do ask that you respect it, I literally spent upwards of a month to 2 months researching Corki and looking at other guides, my other guides have not been very successful, but I'm hoping that this one is more successful. So please leave criticizim if you must, but please respect my guide.

This guide comes from quite a bit of experience with my brother playing League Of Legends and as well me. So I'm not just some 8 year old trying to get my guide popular, I made this to give people my knowledge of what I know about Corki and the League.

Please leave comments, if I think that the thing you said was smart, or something needs to be changed, I will acknowledge that you said it and change it.

Thanks for reading my guide! Hope you learned something about Corki , and happy ad carrying!
