Introduction

I played Urgot for a long time now and i want to introduce him as a bot lane carry. I've seen him solo top very often but I think he is deserved to be played at bot lane. He can dominate that lane lane so hard.

Like you see I have made two guides: one with Soraka and one without her.
Now you might think:"Why did he made that difference?". A clear answer:"Because it's a completely different lane if you play with or without Soraka. There's a chapter where I will explain why i think so.

About me

I'm a 16-year-old boy from germany. I played bot lane for a very long time. Now I started playing top more but I want to share my expieriences on bot lane with you. I'm still in school (of course ;) ) so it will take time till this guide is finished. Also my english isn't the best so I appriciate every correction.

Pros / Cons

Pros

  • Strong early game
  • Great farmer
  • Great harras from high distances
  • Almost impossible to counter
  • Amazing ult, especially to initiate
  • Quite easy to zone enemies
  • Not that item dependent
  • Nice CC with Terror Capacitor
  • Last but not least very fun to play
SPACE

Cons

  • No real natural escape
  • Mana dependent
  • Easily countered by armor (as normal for ad carries)
  • Slow animation of Noxian Corrosive Charge so it's easy to dodge
  • Extremely short range
  • Quite hard to master
  • His damage falls late game due to the defensive build

Summoner Spells

Flash is not replaceable on Urgot. He has no natural escape skill so he needs a summoner for that. Ghost, the other escape spell is not viable on him, it just doesn't fit him. You don't have to run around in team fights like a rat neither you have to chase enemies over the half map. So just leave it to Jax, Garen and other off tanks.
SPACE

This spell I normally pick as the second spell. It helps you a lot against other heal supporter like Sona, Taric or even Soraka. Also sometimes you need it to get the last bit of the enemy's health down. In late game it help you to bring down champs with a big live reg like Dr. Mundo and Sion.
SPACE

This spell I like even more than Ignite but normally the support has it so I leave it to him. In my opinion this spell must be on a bot lane because it makes you win every 1 on 1, it helps you chase enemy and also in late it can cut down the enemy AD Carry.

When you're without Soraka or even with Soraka and you feel like you need more heal or sustain pick this spell. It's the standard summoner for ad carry and it's also viable on Urgot.

If you are facing a lot of CC pick this if you want. I personally don't think I need it because Urgot can survive most of the CC due to his late game tankiness.

This spell can be very good on Urgot. His ganks are extremely strong as soon as he has ult and even late game it helps you to get even more farm while being in team fights as soon as they start.

As I mentioned above I don't think this spell is good on Urgot but when you really like this spell and you don't want to miss it on Urgot pick it. It's not completely useless on Urgot

Please don't take any other summoner spells!!

Runes

Runes

Precision
Fleet Footwork
Phase Rush

Quintessence

Greater Quintessence of Desolation

Greater Quintessence of Desolation
I would recommend these because armor penetration helps to boost the damage of Acid Hunter a lot. Early game you will do almost true damage if the enemy doesn't have armor runes and even with your damage will be very high.

Greater Quintessence of Health
Take these runes when you think you need more survivability early game. It will boost your HP a lot. I personally never take these.

Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage
Pick these only when you need them to last hit because normally Urgot profits a lot more from armor penetration.

Mark

Greater Mark of Desolation

Greater Mark of Desolation
Same reasons as above.

Greater Mark of Attack Damage
And again same reasons as above ;)

Seal

Greater Seal of Armor
I always take these because I think they help you most in early game. E.g. when the enemy has armor penetration runes he would normally conflict true damage to you but with these runes he won't.

Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration
These runes are only viable without Soraka because with you simply don't need them. Even without [soraka] inly pick these if you feel like you often have mana problems which can be solved with these. But remeber that when you spam your abilities you will have mana problems ether way.

Greater Seal of Health
Pick these if you personally prefer them over armor. I would recommend the armor runes but at the end it's your choice.

Glyph

Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist
And again I take the defensive way but I really think these will help you most endgame.

Greater Glyph of Magic Resist
Take these only if you're facing a lot of early magic damage(e.g. Teemo).

Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction
I personally wouldn't recommend these but they are viable of course. It will help you to reach the 40% CDR. Always rember that when you buy Ionian Boots of Lucidity you will rech the cap ether way together with Frozen Heart and masteries.

Soraka or not

In this chapter I will explain why I made this difference between Soraka and without her. First of all I want to say that I don't think Soraka is the overall best supporter for Urgot. I only think that you can play completely different with her. For example you can skip Manamune. So Soraka offers a completely different play style. I will explain in the next section why skipping Manamune is so strong. Also there will be a chapter where I explain the advantages of other supporter. Soraka really helps you to counter your early game squishyness also she gives you unlimited mana what means you can spam your abilities even without Manamune.

Manamune or not

Most Urgot players you will see will buy Manamune and without Soraka I would still recommend to buy it but with Soraka you can skip it. Why? I think when you just look at the damage of Manamune you can say it's a late game focused item because you need mana to really profit from its bonus ad and that will take a long time to get. First the passive of Manamune. You will need at least 30 min to get the full 1000 mana out of it and also other items like Frozen Heart and Banshee's Veil you will get later. So I think the only reason buying this item early is the mana regen and to get passive full as soon as possible. With Soraka you simply don't need the mana regen and late game you will have enough mana ether way. So buying a early The Brutalizer will boost you damage way more.

Gameplay

Early game

Play aggressive. Early game is where he is really strong. Try to land Noxian Corrosive Charge and send them some Acid Hunter in the face. If you are good they will be quite annoyed after some time and they have to go back. Always remember to not chase for to long. It's better to force the enemy carry back so he looses CS instead of an 1vs1 exchange so you both are dead. But never forget last hitting while harrasing!!

Mid game

First of all I want to say that for me late game starts when you pushed the enemy's tower. Now you should start to roam and gank other lanes with Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse. Urgot is quite strong mid game so try to force team fights if you team feels like you can win them.

Late game

Late game starts when the big team fights start. It's is all about using Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse correctly and good positioning.

This item will boost your damage extremely. If you've finished The Brutalizer you can start play very aggressive. The CDR fits Urgot also very good. The only problem with this item is that you can't build it into Youmuu's Ghostblade because that item is mainly for melee carries.

Another item that fits Urgot almost perfectly. First the armor will help you late game after you used Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse and you are surrounded by enemies. Also the aura is very nice then because it helps to shutdown all the AD carries. The mana stacks nice with Manamune but also with Soraka it helps you so you don't run into any mana problems. Last but not least the CDR again. Urgot needs CDR so much cause of his Acid Hunter. So all in all this item is almost perfect for Urgot.

This is also an item which fits Urgot quite good. The mana stacks with Manamune. the HP help you to get more tanky. The MRes is important against all APs and the spell shield helps you after using Hyper-Kinetic Position Reverse cause it blocks the first spell on you.

I won't explain much about this item here because it has a complete chapter. Manamune helps you to solv your early game mana problems and will boost your damage quite good late game.

Situational items

Offensive items

  • : This item provide the highest amount of AD ingame with full stacks. That's the reason I would really recommend buying it. Also 3000 isn't that much gold. The lifesteal is not that useful on Urgot because Acid Hunter does not apply it of course. But anyway it helps you to recover from fights and harass.

  • : This item helps you against enemy stacking armor. Normally I would recommend buying it. Only in some rare games when enemy have very few armor you can think about skipping it.

  • : This item provides the second most AD ingame but it's also one of the most expensive. Anyway I don't think it fits Urgot so well because hes not an auto attacker so the crit chance and the passive are kinda wasted.

  • : Again I would not recommend this item because Urgot is simply not a normal ad. Always remember that Acid Hunter does not apply any on-hit effects beside Zaun-Touched Bolt Augmenter.

  • : Just the same again. Almost every stat of this item is wasted. Only the movement speed is quite nice. Don't buy it.

  • : Snowball item. Just buy if you want to. Normally this item should be avoided.

Defensive items

  • . A very good item with an amazing passive and nice hybrid resistances. This item can change a whole game. Recommended to buy.

  • : Most HP ingame. Buy it if you feel like it. It really helps you to survive teamfights.

  • : Buy this if you are facing a lot of auto attackers like Tryndamere, Ashe and so on. The passive will really help you against them and also the active is amazing.

Supporter

I think she is a very good support for Urgot but always remember she has absolutly no CC. So you have to hit Noxian Corrosive Charge. As you might have recognized Soraka is a central point in my guide and that's because of her different play style. But read the chapter about Soraka for more information about that.

He's an amazing support. I think you can play him with almost every single ad carry also with Urgot. Together they will bring pain to the lane. You can hit Noxian Corrosive Charge everytime cause of Dazzle. Taric also helps you to counter your squishy early game with his heal from Imbue and his passive armor from Shatter. Also the armor reduction is very nice.

He's a bit like Taric but more tanky with less sustain. His Headbutt Pulverize combo helps you to hit Noxian Corrosive Charge and his heal is also quite nice. In my opinion Alistar is very strong late game but early game there are better supporter.

She has an amazing early burst damage and after the buff she's one off the best supporter but I don't think she really fits Urgot. Her heal is the second strongest after Soraka but Urgot needs more.

Also a very nice support but she lacks of sustain. Her shield is quite nice and the bonus ad fits Urgot quite well and also Howling Gale and Zephyr helps you to chase enemies and hit your Noxian Corrosive Charge. At the end it is your decision. If you like her she's a good choice. I'm personally not a fan of her.

Counter Picks

Enemy AD Carries

Overall I would say it's very hard to lane against a good Urgot and theres no real good counter to him but anyway I want to mention at least one counter. Caitlyn. Her extremely high range will make your life very hard. Evereytime you want to get a last hit she will poke you. If you have Soraka with you laugh about her harras. With Taric or other supporter play agressive and force her to play passive.

Enemy Supporter

Urgot is countered by sustain and even more aggressive early game. So you will have a hard time against Soraka, Leona and other like them. If you are facing them it's up to you to win the lane. Only skill will decide the lane. But anyway it will be hard for the enemy AD carry even with such strong supporter.
