Introduction

While other young yordles would play skip-step and make wreathes out of braided posies, Poppy was earning calluses and grease stains in her father's armor shop. Blomgrun was a well-respected armorsmith, and he named his daughter for the sprightly sounds that accompanied the sparks leaping from his ever-burning forge. He was filled with pride when she was first able to lift his trusty hammer, Whomper. One day, Blomgrun was comissioned to create a glorious helm for a Demacian general. Word of the charge was leaked to the Noxian High Command, and two of their best spies ambushed Blomgrun's caraven en route. Though Poppy escaped with the helm, she helplessly watched as her father was slain. Instead of fleeing home, she carried the helm to Demacia alone. When the Demacian general saw the grim determination behind the tears in her eyes, the general requested that the leadership of Bandle City appoint Poppy as the yordle ambassador to Demacia. Soon after, seeking to crush Noxus with her father's hammer, Poppy volunteered for the League of Legends.

Poppy may be small, but Whomper - or her will - is not.

This is a build I normally use for poppy to tank, there's a few variations depending on who you're facing, but it depends on her passive Valiant Fighter

This build will make you have as little hp as possible but as high defense as possible.

At end game I am usually around 70-80% in both AP and Damage reduction and Valiant Fighter reduces everything another 50%. I think I'm around 2500 hp end game.

Pros / Cons

+ Can survive most about anything, for a long time.
+ High damage attacks/ultimates doesn't hit your for much.
+ Tower diving is your forte.
+ 700 hp is still a lot of hp, I've stayed and pushed lanes with 400 hp endgame.
+ You're cute and awesome.

- Low damage AS heroes will do a lot of damage to you, be careful, take these out first!
- Slow at start.
- No creeping, no jungling.
- Hard to get money.

Items

Since her passive reduces all damage by 50% if it exceeds 10% of current health, I have almost no health items only armor and magic resist (mr).

Doran's Shield at spawn because you want to stay in your lane a while and level up, poppy is not very powerful at the start of a game and...don't forget the Health Potion.

First trip back: Boots, either Ninja Tabi or Mercury's Treads .. depending on situation. I usually buy one item from Guardian Angel too, depending who's in my lane, if I need MR or Armor.

Second trip: Thornmail Awesome item, gives no health just good armor and the returned damage is counted before valiant fighter reduces damage taken. Now it is a bit depending on the other team, Force of Nature is great but if they're AD heavy I'm going Guardian's Angel first. HP regen is awesome on a tank with low health.

3rd trip: Now either what you didn't build before or Banshee's Veil, if they have a lot of CC (crowd control) in general or you need more MR.

4th trip: Now it's up to you if you need more armor or damage, it's hard to predict how the game is going, but usually now I'd start going for a bit of damage and AS (attack speed).

Now there's a lot of diffrent things to get depending on who you're up against...

Other items I recommend for Poppy are, Frozen Heart Zeke's Harbinger Wriggle's Lantern Quicksilver Sash Randuin's Omen

Skill Sequence

When initiating a group fight, select the enemy with the LEAST damage, pop Diplomatic Immunity then Heroic Charge on the one with the HIGHEST damage (don't forget to mark this target so the team focuses on this one).

Basically Paragon of Demacia -> Diplomatic Immunity -> Heroic Charge -> Devastating Blow
Very situational, but PoD when you need more defense and to reach someone quickly, DI on the least damage enemy (usually a tank) then charge the damage dealer and smack them up the head with Devastating blow.

Team Work

Poppy is an awesome team player, for the most part use Diplomatic Immunity to initiate for the team or to push with the team after the designated tank initiates.
Also watch for any signs of pressure or focus on a teammate, as Poppy can graciously save the life of a teammate by just simply letting the enemy team know that you dont f*** with Poppy's friends as you ram their teammate against a wall.

Don't be worried if according to the stats screen after battle you haven't taken the most damage remember that you only take 50% of almost all damage.

Creeping / Jungling

You can't Jungle, you can't Creep.

Poppy is really bad at this until late game and then she's not even good then but what you need to know is that the blue buff (lower part top forest or upper part bottom forest) will help you a lot, specially early, so ask someone to help you get it if it's up and no one's grabbing it.
