Well, building MPen is not enought if you are focusing paper-like champions that does not build MR. Liandry's Torment is an awesome item to defeat tanks, but its not gold efficient against carries. Low AP ratios are not an excuse for not building AP, he has no AD ratio too, so yes, must build AP and Rabadon's Deathcap is the highest AP item and awesome for poking champions, Deathfire Grasp cloud get him more damage, but for that he needs to use its passive, that has a really low range and will get you in a bad position, so its pointless.

Rabadon is a good item for Vel'Koz even though he has low ratios

I've compared the two guides to each other, but honestly don't see how one is a copy of the other at all. Care to clarify which images / sentences were copied?

This guide is the reason i went 22-2 i think this is awesome keep up the great work!

Don't forget to add as favourite and come back later to rate it when Mobafire allows it :D

Looks good! Keep up the work! I agree with Rhollback... Mejai's Soulstealer should never be bought. No matter what situation.

Also...there are no such things as "boots of armor" or "boots of magic resist". However there are Mercury's Treads and Ninja Tabi. ;)

Well I think I have changed most of those "errors" xD At least I'm not finding more! As for Mejai's Soulstealer like I said is risky it will only be a good item if you never die during the game or die just once and get more kills and assists after...and we can't always make sure that happens :D Thanks for your thoughts! :)

Also, having low AP scaling means nothing. What then? Should he build AD?

Magicpenetration usually works fine for APs with low ratios.
If u build Void Staff and Liandrys you maybe could also go for the CDR-boots. CDR is a very good stat for Vel'Koz.

Also if I may suggest Rod of Ages for an early game off-tank build for more survivability in case he's fighting something a bit heavy? ( IE: LeBlanc or Veigar ).

Well, could work. But in this case you maybe dont want to go for a grail and i dont think that you can miss CDR on him.
And to build RoA+Grail would be a big waste of gold, cause you wont need all the mana/manareg.

Pls remove Abyssal from your recommended Items, its just terrible on Vel'Koz, cause its passive range isnt even near the range of his abilities.
Also i wouldn say Mejais is trash in every case, cause he hasnt this high AP-scalings.
I would put Linadrys to the coreitems and move Rabadons to the offensive Options, cause all you get of Rabadons is a huge amount of AP, which isn not that effective for Vel'Koz due to his low scalings.

If you read correctly, Abyssal Mask is a CHOICE item, AKA: Situational.
As a heavy AP damage dealer, if your enemy has half a brain, you -will- be focused once the ADC is dead/not around.
As thus, Abyssal Mask will allow you to deal some hefty damage to make enemies pull out, as well as amplify any more AP damage going it's way. ( Though I agree the range is too small and should only be bought as a very situational item ).

I would personally lobby more for Rylai's Crystal Scepter but again, it's SITUATIONAL, not a set in stone, must-need item.

Also, Mejai's Soulstealer is trash in almost every case. On every champ. Ever.
Since if someone clicks on you, and sees that passive, you WILL be focused over almost anything else. It's a bad item all in all and should only be bought if you're curbstomping the other team in which case you should be getting another, better item anyways.
And a core issue with it is that you MUST have five to twelve stacks on it at least, at all times, for it to even begin to be gold efficient.

Also, having low AP scaling means nothing. What then? Should he build AD?
I agree Rylai's Crystal Scepter should be core, but Rabadon's Deathcap should be as well in the late-game.

Also if I may suggest Rod of Ages for an early game off-tank build for more survivability in case he's fighting something a bit heavy? ( IE: LeBlanc or Veigar ).

Thank you for including this. I've had many good games go downhill because of bad attitudes, and I have had some awesome unexpected wins late-game because of a positive team attitude. People sometimes forget that there is a human being behind every summoner.

[Edit] I took your advice on maxing Q for an ARAM match. The damage scales up very quickly for intense early harass! I had been maxing W for laning, as it is an unparalleled wave clearing tool. However, the damage provided at such early levels and low cooldown definitely make maxing Q a more viable method of securing kills as early as level 1. I look forward to this guide's growth!

I'm really happy to know that I'm being helpfull! And happy to know that you took my advice as well! I did try to maximize both his Q, W and E first in different games and I saw better results with his Q! Definitly harasses a LOT and the damage is amazing :D

I like the guide but i must disagree with some of the counter. Katarina has her Shunpo which could easily escape any of Vel'Koz abilities. Though her Death Lotus is interuptable, i don't think it's easy for him to interrupt it. Also, Nidalee should be able to escape it with Pounce and actually will have easier time to land her spear in teamfight because he will be a sitting duck

I'll explain why I said that: Vel'koz can interrupt Katarina's ultimate if he uses his Tectonic Disruption because both these champions are sitting ducks when it comes to ultimates unfortunately. The only way to hit champions such Katarina and Nidalee is if you land vel'koz combos right, because if he lands slow and knock-up at least some part of his ultimate will get champions like this but yes there is still the possibility of running away! Other way of getting Katarina with Life Form Disintegration Ray is allowing her to do her Death Lotus flash out of the range and do his own ultimate since the range of it is way bigger BUT still there is the chance of not landing the full ultimate. As for Nidalee well he has to make a lot of use of his Q and try to arr*** by staying behind minions...doing his ulti is extremely dangerous with her! unless he gets Banshee's Veil and its passive has not been used yet. :)
