Introduction

Many thanks to the guide Viktor - Rise of the Machine and its author Agarol. If you are looking for lots of information and good know-how about Viktor, please read his/her guide. This build is only intended for those of you looking for a done recipe for the hardest hitting and at the same time viable Viktor.

Runes, masteries & spells

Not much to say. There are two concerns going into runes and masteries, and that is to maximize possible damage, and to alleviate mana-hunger. And yes, I use revive. Every other round I get a lot of flak for this, and yet the explanation is pretty simple. Viktor is a good defender. Unless opposing side has out-leveled you, Viktor is capable of staving off 5v1 attacks against a turret for a long time. So, to guard against a lost teambattle and insta-lose, I have revive.

Kit

Yet again, doing maximum damage is (my) key here. Will you be squishy? Yes, very much so. Will you be packing a punch? Definitely. With AP around 850, your Death Ray (frikkin laser!) will sear any enemy without magic resist, and if they are not careful to stun before getting up close, Chaos Storm will drop like a bomb on their heads. Finish with a sprinkle of Power Transfer (Q).

Getting ganked so bad it's becoming a problem? Get Giant's Belt before Rabadon's Deathcap. Lay a clever trap and run away.

How to play with this setup

Ok, so I'm assuming that you are somewhat familiar with playing a squishy character. What sets Viktor apart is in my opinion his range. You can do damage from so far away that there will usually never be any situation where you'll need any more HP than what the character has plus what Rylai's Crystal Scepter will give you.

Laning

There will be situations where you will be forced to give some champions a wiiiiiide berth. I'm thinking here mostly of Kassadin (ulti plus Flash puts some range on him too), but there are others who can give you a really hard time. If you come up against these, you'll lose some XP and money. But just be patient, and fire that annoying laser of yours. As soon as you're somewhere around levels 8-10 (depends on feed status) you will be able to instakill every wave of minions with one go of the Death Ray, and make it really hard for anything less than a proper tank to go at your turret.

Mid/late game

Is where Viktor, in my mind, comes into his right. A word of caution: This is the time where you need to get really careful. If you have proper assasins on the other team, Rengar, Yi, Katarina and so on: Beware! A simple jog along mid can turn deadly very fast. You need to be attentive to the makro and be sure you know where the champions that has your squishiness figured out are. If your team is not nearby, hug a turret until you know where your nemesis is.

And the upside! You will eating minions like there is no tomorrow, getting fed and happy, and as soon as you get a proper meeting 5v5, it's time to shine. Depending on situation, a lot of different approaches to a team fight can be made. Viktor is seldom the initiatior, but will, if kept alive, be the finisher. Meeting the other team in jungle on the offensive, can be a ideal situation to trap 3-5 champions in a trap and laying the Chaos Storm to deal tons of damage. If the fight is tentative, just keep poking with laser, which will eventually force opponents to either charge or flee. I average 200-400 minions slain and around 300-400k damage dealt with this build in a game that goes up to 18.
