Wahid3251 TopLane Akali Guide, S10/S11 Challenger

About Me
Hello, i am Wahid3251 and i am a Challenger EUW Akali OTP, currently the highest rated in the world and self-proclaimed best Akali. here are some screenshots of what im capable of and what i have done
Starting Items Back to Top
Doran's Shield - Most lanes
Doran's Ring - free lanes where you wont get poked as hard
Doran's Blade - free lanes where you can trade melee easily
Early Levels Back to Top
Most lanes you have to play safe early and farm up with Q, auto to cs if they aren't in range to punish it, some matchups you can look to short trade but only few very easy lanes.
Wave Control Back to Top
You should be looking to get the wave to push into you early so you can freeze, this allows you to be safe from ganks and forces the enemy into a bad position as he can easily get ganked and cant all in / hard trade you. During trades you should avoid hitting the wave as much as possible as this will push the wave into the enemy which is what you do not want to be doing, if you can't avoid the wave then just don't trade at all, it is better to have the wave in a good position rather give the enemy a chance to kill you.
If you can however capitalize from the trade and look for dives your jungler / team or to cripple him from leaving lane to help his team then it is worth to do so, in the end it is all about exerting pressure either by killing or forcing the enemy into a bad position.
Proper Shroud utilization Back to Top
This spell is not only Akali's most important ability, but it's her most versatile one as well. A good Akali player can be distinguished by how they use Shroud, some examples are:
- cancelling abilities / autos
- gain MS / Energy for trades
- Juking or setting up plays with E
- zoning entire teams
Mid Game Back to Top
Play sidelane and look to shove / keep prio on the lane, when the enemy comes to respond to the wave, you look to get vision control ( clear out wards and drop control wards )in the enemy jungle. This allows you to get picks and or flanks on the enemy team after shoving in waves

When an objective is coming up, you can either set up slow pushes on the opposite side of the map and look to group up with your team if its free and look for flanks or keep pushing with tp to pressure and drag 2+ people to you so your team can take the objective freely, you can just back off (if you can't kill) when you see them or when you aren't sure if it's safe to keep pushing
Roaming Back to Top
This can be done at many stages and is one of the best ways to get ahead, but it can backfire so you shouldn't do it unless you are sure it will work out, things to look out for before roaming are:
- No summoner spells
- Low mobility
- Very aggressive playstyle
But before leaving lane it is best to shove in the minions to minimize the XP and Gold you could lose
Special Mechanics Back to Top
Buffering spells with Passive - This is one of Akali's most important mechanics, your passive auto cannot be cancelled once it has started on a CHAMPION meaning you can speed up your combos and cancel some animations such as:
- passive auto > Q
- passive auto > W
- Passive auto > E2
- Passive auto > R2

You can cast any ability or item in either E dashes, this means you can Zhonya/Proto to outplay or Q/R1 for extra out play or burst etc...

Your E/R hitboxes start behind you which allows you to E as someone dashes onto you which guarantees your E or you can R2 Backwards and still get some burst off while escaping

Every single one of Akali abilities procs her passive which means you can get 2 passives from E1 + E2 and R1 + R2

Akali Q and R damage can both be redirected with flash if you cast it at the end of the spell, E can also have the direction of the projectile changed but it will always end where it should have ended from the original cast

You can cancel R1 dash with E1 if you spam it which can set you up for quick burst when you need the
the enemy to be unable to react
Team Fighting Back to Top
In fights, you have many options but the main goal should either be to
A) Flank and take out the enemy carries ( use sweeper / TP and find a way to their backline - R1 > E1/W, wait out for R2 then dash with E2 > Q > passive > R2 out )
B) Engage with your R through the frontline and disrupt the enemy team with R1 > W/Zhonya > DPS with Q + passive autos / E / R2
