About me and my experience with Xerath
I hope you will enjoy my guide and learn some of my tips.
Xerath is one of the best champs to solo carry game and he is one of the longest range champions in a game. He can poke your enemies and kill them before the team fight starts. For these reasons Xerath is one of the most impactful mages in a game. Xerath has a low pick-rate so more like 90% players don't know how to play against him and also becouse of the low pick-rate Riot is ignoring Xerath with nerfs/buffs so you dont have to learn new tactics with him.

1st recall) Buy Lost Chapter and potions for Mana Regen and some Abillity Power
2nd recall) Rush Large rod to increase your damage dealing + if you can buy Boots of speed
3rd recall) Now it's your choice - Rush full Luden's Echo or full Sorcerers boots
4th and next recalls) Continue as you can see in the picture
I won't spend too much time talking about the strengths and weaknesses of individual masteries. The best keystone for Xerath is Thunderlord's Decree becouse Xerath has a 3-spell combo ( E-W-Q ) so your Q does insane dmg. Many people prefer Deathfire touch , but you dont need that additional dmg from this keystone, when you will destroy your enemies without giving them chance to run.
Flash has been the standard summoner spell to take on almost every single champion since forever so i wont talk about this one. Barrier on the other hand, replaced Heal when it got buffed in season 5 to have lower cooldown than Heal and also works against Ignite. Becouse of that i am 100% sure Flash + Barrier is the best option in 95% matches. You can also pick Teleport instead of Barrier if you play against champs like Twisted Fate or Pantheon. The third option is Ghost instead of Barrier, I dont prefer this combination too much becouse in team fights you have to stay behind your team and Ghost is useless then. ( I always play for a mid game / late game ).
