Yorick - The Gravedigger
I take flat AD reds and quints, so level 1 is even more frightening for the unfortunate soul you're laning against. Flat health yellows offer more survivability, and when Yorick is swinging away in a fight, you want him to be there as long as possible. And, just one option for the blues is MR, purely because you build no MR in my build, and it could come in handy, replace this with flat AD, AD per level, or AS if you don't believe you need the MR.
Yorick can be quite flexible with what he can buy, and what order.
Start by grabbing a Dagger and a Health Potion. This is quite a strange start, you may think, as his abilities require AD! But no, with your slow leveled first, more attacks means more harass, and more free reign over last hitting and farming.
Change this, as soon as possible, into Berserker's Greaves, movement speed and attack speeds are both crucial. If you feel you want tenacity, or some MR, then grab Mercury's Treads, however the tenacity is not quite necessary, and attack speed comes in handy.
As soon as your boots are up, get a Phage. The slow helps, the AD helps, the health helps. You can, however, grab a Sheen instead, or Zeal, just one part of Trinity Force, but only one part for now.
Spirit Visage next, to be more tanky and for the health regen effects. Your will heal you, and the passive effect of SV buffs that up a bit.
Bloodthirster, always a great item, Yorick thrives with it. Lifestal, and massive AD, and he's a force to be reckoned with.
And, now for the big one, Trinity Force itself. Now is the time to grab it, later game, farm is easy to acquire. With this, you'll notice a significant boost in almost all of your skills.
And we finish with Atmogs, Warmog's Armor and Atma's Impaler. More health, more health regen, more AD. These last two are to make you almost unstoppable, able to walk through teams and still come out alive, but if you're finding the other team already can't handle you, consider grabbing a Black Cleaver or a Madred's Bloodrazor, or both, the ending of your build is quite open.

Get your
first, early harass is great, and it's slow can make for an easy first blood. It can also be used to scout bushes, and that's invaluable at the beginning of a game.
Second, is your , and this is one of your most important abilities. It can do insane damage, and once your W is at level 3, and you have your ult , max this.
Your is, for the most part, part of a combo. It can be used for last hits, heals, and to throw out another ghoul. Remember, spam those ghouls, you can take more and deal more that way. This should be maxed last, but it's still an important skill, and can be gotten earlier if wanted.
Your ult too is invaluable, at all times, despite how it doesn't always work, and it should be levelled whenever it can be.

Jungle Yorick is quite slow, to be honest, but can be effective. His ganks are good, with his slow and large damage output, but lane Yorick is where you should be.
But, taking out a few creeps here and there is never a bad thing. Red and Blue both go perfectly on Yorick, with Blue being used mostly for it's lowering of his CD on his Q, letting you throw around even more insane amounts of damage.

If a low health teammate is nearby, you have several options, and should try to never leave them stranded.
1. Use your W, slow the chasers.
2. Kill the chasers, if they're low, W, Q, E, everything.
3. If there is no way this teammate is getting away alive, he has no hope left, ult him. If he's smart, and doesn't neglect to see that he's already dead, he could get in a few kills with you.

Scouting of bushes (throw a W in, will show you anyone hiding there, ghoul will chase, slows and damages).
Second life (his ult), use this wisely, and, if need be, throw yourself at the enemy and ult yourself, kill yourself in order to take down a fed enemy or get a few kills. BUT, don't do this too often, as your aim is still not to die, you aren't Karthus after all.
His ghouls can be used to chase opponents away, damage towers, take tower aggro while you destroy them, and kill minions with you. Use them, all the time.
