try putting a grey clipping mask over the top of them. Set it to color and lower its opacity as you see fit. That will dull the colors anywhere from completely to just barely.

EDIT: If you meant too bright as in actual lighting maybe put a dark layer over them. A black or dark brown clipping mask set to overlay might work.

ALSO: Thoughts?

I likes it, I'd wanna see a bit more texture/variety in the background though.

I saw a gimp tutorial which did soemthing along the lines of:

-create a new blank layer
-take your brush tool and find a color which works with the overall color scheme, but slightly darker shade.
-draw random lines, they dont have to be straight lines; following the flow (for this voli one it would be bottom left to upper right) of the piece, then use your smudge tool (with a textured brush head) with medium to high scattering and smudge the lines following their flow.
-Repeat the procees on a new layer using a lighter shade and places those lines in between the ones you just smudged.

Basically I found this while looking for photoshop tuts, the effect is quite nice imo.

If I ignore the fact that I'm not a traditional artist by trade...Then my ~20 minute sketch of "Valentines Day Nidalee" isn't that bad....And no she isn't missing her arms they're behind her back...

Thanks Amanda, I'll try that.

As for your work, I like everything bar the text - maybe it'd look better in a different location?

Jeffy: Awesome :P I think that you should draw her arms a little more - maybe holding a spear or something? Colour it too?

It was something to pass the time. Nothing I was gonna take much further. I suck at drawing in general but I might practice more. Idk I never get what I draw to look all that artistic in terms of style. Its just simple which isn't all that bad. But I wanna be able to pull off cooler looking stuff

Random tip time. After your done making your sig, create a new layer and apply image on it. Gaussian blur this layer with a setting of 3, then set the layer to lighten. Epic h4x achieved.

Tried it, didn't work so well. Even at a lowered opacity. I think that above trick would only work with certain signatures and styles :)
