Here's the thing...
In terms of pure gold cost, if we take B.F. Sword, Vampiric Scepter, Giant's Belt, Meki Pendant, Regrowth Pendant, Chain Vest, and NLR as examples then:
1 AD costs 36g
1% Life Steal costs 37.5g
1hp costs 2.6g
1 ap costs 20g
1 armor costs 15.6g
1 HP/5 costs 29g
1 MP/5 costs 55g
This means that Doran's Blade should cost 360+260+112= 732g.
This means that Doran's Ring should cost 260+300+275= 835g.
This means that Doran's Shield should cost 314+156+232= 702g.
So, if only "bad" players need dorans items, then why are they so amazingly cheap?

Tri lane for life.

And i was retorting your point.
If you plan on getting all 6 items then yes, dorans items are a waste, but if you don't, they are some of the most gold efficient items in the game.

Doran's is not a waste! If you are actually playing good players you need to get some good stats immediately instead of waiting around for gold to just drop on you. It's hard saving up for those nicer items when you are getting pushed out of your lane by an enemy that bought smart.
Lol usually I only double doran's, but last game Vayne I went triple for the hell of it and pwned every thing instantly early game.
it's 2gud.
