i honestly don't get why you didn't upgrade the machete..

I was gonna go for Iceborn Gauntlet, but the game ended too quickly. The CDR is nice, and I didn't feel like going for Reverie at that point in the game.
As to why I didn't upgrade machete? That's more of a choice than anything. I could've gone for Madred's Razors for a slightly faster clear, but that doesn't build into amazingly useful things later. The Spirit stone wasn't really needed for MP/HP5 because I was toting around a Crystalline Flask for most of the game. Sure it would've increased my clear speed by a bit, but I really didn't need it most times.

spirit stone is really strong after it's buff.
Machete is build for the armor.
If you had went for madred's+kindlegem you would've ended up with almost the same cdr, almost the same armor and the only thing you'd have missed out on would be mana pretty much.
If i were you i would definitely have gone for spirit stone and foregone the flask and then mobi-boots instead of the mercs.

Game 15, February 12th
Bans: Kha'Zix, Shen, Katarina / Amumu, Blitzcrank, Malphite
Interesting match where I was last pick and thrown into support. I thought we'd have a nice aggressive lane, but Taric kinda screwed that up. Draven got in over his head a lot and it cost us fairly quickly. Thankfully, we had a competent team who ganked for us bot lane frequently, as Kennen was having no troubles with Nid top.
And with that, I move on to promotion for Silver II. Yay. :3
Game 13, February 7th

Another interesting jungle Maokai game. They 5-man invaded and got first blood on Kass and stole my blue. I went Wraiths->Wolves and went back for a flask. I kept the machete all game because none of the upgrades were really worth it other than Spirit of the Ancient Golem, and I just went for Mercs instead. With me being behind, I went for Twin Shadows and kept the pick for a while for the gold. It ended up being invaluable because of all the scouting it gave as well as the slows. During late game teamfights, I thought we were going to lose to the combined CC of Malphite and Amumu, but both of them went straight towards our Vayne, as well as their Taric, which let us just beat on Lux and Draven. A final fight where they decided to walk in one at a time let us just pick them off for an ace and a push to win.
