Which Yi build will be the best?
Thalia: if a champ like noc can build bruiser, so can Yi. And his lvl 2 damage output is insane for those early ganks to set your top or mid up nicely. You just need lanes with cc.

I was actually thinking about that. Building
Spirit of the Ancient Golem off the jungle to start off tankier and relying on R, Q resets and activated E to get kills. May not work wonders, but should be doable in lanes with some form of CC.
I'm thinking maybe
Frozen Mallet for tankiness and CC. Maybe. Too expensive.
As everything Yi, this is high risk. Gonna test it but not expecting anything major.

As we know, if you want to build as a jungler, you need a general build which is as cheap as possible. So, a spirit item which just costs 2000 gold could be good on Yi. Now, which cheap item would be good on Yi? As far as spirit upgrades, I could see
Spirit of the Elder Lizard working, as this gives him even more true dmg for a very cheap price. But otherwise,
Madred's Razors works really well on Yi.
As for a cheap AS item, maybe try out
Wit's End? Not only offers 42% AS, it also gives nice defense.
Good cheap AD items aren't really exist. Maybe try out
Atma's Impaler after getting
Spirit of the Ancient Golem or get
Executioner's Calling.
Last Whisper is aswell cheap for its 40 AD + armorpen. If you got no other choice, get a
B. F. Sword and leave it there.

I have been testing new yi lately with the following setups
jungle:
ats reds
armor yellows
mres/lvl blues
ls quints
smite+ ghost
dorans/machete+pots
tiamat
averice+lvl 1 boots
hydra
shiv
ie
ga/mallet/randuins/warmogs
top/mid:
pdmg reds and quints
armor yellows/ scaling mres blues OR scaling armor yellows + mres blues depending on matchup
fairy+consumables
manamune
boots+vampiric
hydra or botrk vs tanks (rene zac etc)
situational items
what these builds do:
jungle:
tiamat provides extra fast clears with hpreg keeping hb bar full (needs to be rushed)
once hydra+shiv are done, immediate single target burst is 165+max AD+max AD(hydra proc)+100(shiv proc that can crit)+AA which is around 800+250 (AA) raw damage. All this is aoe, counting with 4 targets total burst can potentially be 3200 with just these 2 items. Imagine what happens with IE if shiv crits and alpha strike both crit : its around 4800 unmitigated damage with a single AA done .
top/mid:
flash/tele/ghost/ignite/exhaust
start:
2wards+5+4pots / 1 ward+fairy+ 6pots /2 wards+fairy+ 3pots
you need to gather enough for manamune on the first return
it should be no problem, since you can outtrade and/or outsustain virtually anyone
trick: q>w>q>e>q>r
take meditate at level 2, so whenever you get low, just pop w and voila 50 mana converted to up to 240 hp at level 1
if you ward up, and don't overcommit you can farm indefinitely
muramana+botrk take care of both of tanks and squishies
I haven't done this in ranked on my main yet with new yi (almost diamond and trying to play mainstream champs), but on my smurf 70% win rate so far (gold 3)
to prove im not just randomly makin this up: Plat 1 ranked stats S3 >order for "wins"

forgot mentioning that this build gets godlike with aoe lockup
try going duo que with a good orianna/gallio
great synergy with shield comps too (soraka/lulu/lee/gallio/ori/morgana!/janna etc)

1. Yi clears like crazy, especially now with 100% minion proc
2. Once you get tiamat, which is actually very cheap for 1900, you clear like no one else
(in comparison to wriggles 2100G vs 1900G, 25 ad vs 45, 15%ls vs 3hp/sec, ward+single target minion proc vs active aoe nuke+passive aoe splash)
3. Clearing fast means you can dedicate more time for ganks
4. Counterganking/laneganks
Gank/countergank top and mid as long as you have doublebuff, then transition into rushing level 6 and getting tiamat.
Once done, get red, with some cooperation bait a gank botlane and pick up an easy triple kill. The powerspike from highlander +tiamat is amazing.

I think assassin yi can work. As long as they don't initiate with Alpha strike 2 seconds in to a team fight :P
