so, uh, a coworker gave me a computer monitor (which I really needed)....
but I have to buy a new keyboard (and therefore a new mouse, most likely) because my brother took the spare and left it in ND.

You could get both for around $20 at your local supermarket. They are really cheap nowadays. Alternatively, you could get expensive ones at computer stores. I have a Razor keyboard and mouse, but was perfectly happy with my $10 laser mouse prior to it.
I suppose could go to walmart and buy a keyboard that won't last long enough to have been worth what I spent on it, but I'm not going to do that given that I do have money and could buy something decent. In my experience (having attempted to play league with a $10 mouse), they often don't react fast enough to work properly for a competitive game. It'd work fine for everything else I play, but I don't even need a new mouse....I already have a logitech mouse that I like quite a lot, so I really don't want to have to buy a keyboard and a mouse together.
hopefully I can just buy a keyboard by itself.

... mice sensitivity is controlled by your computer, not by the mouse (unless it's a ****ty-*** mouse). A $10 mouse used on top of my laptop was good enough to get me to Gold 4 on NA with 240 ping.
And yes, keyboards can be bought separately. You don't need a fancy keyboard to play video games. A cheap one will do. But if you want to splash some money and buy a keyboard that will last just as long as a cheap one but has a brand name on it, go ahead.

Tried Feral Flare and I'm not impressed.
It takes away one of the biggest jungle changes this season, mana sustain.
I'm always mana starved.
The moment blue buff runs out, I'm out of mana.
It lacks sustain in general.
I only got it to ~20 stacks, seeing that it takes over 15 mins to actually get the first 25 stacks that don't do jack really.
And that was almost an entire game just farming the jungle.
Ganking and counterjungling, killing peeps or just forcing behavior changes due to your presence, that puts you easily over 20 mins before you get the initial 25 stacks.
That's a little too late for a jungler to start stacking his items.
By that time I'm between 200G and 2000G from completing TriForce. Add a kill or 3, some assists and I'm already starting on Randuins.
Only done 2 games so far, maybe I need some more, try out some more builds, but so far I'm not impressed.
Not on Xin Zhao anyways.
It might work for farm heavy junglers, but not for me.
It's actually really good on Xin. Attack speed is the most valuable stat for him and the item is super cheap on top of that. Using this you only need QW to clear camps, also allowing you to max Q first (which deals more damage and gets massive CDR). Your overall clear speed is a lot higher as well than with Spirit of the Elder Lizard.
If you play well, you can have it fully stacked at about 20 minutes into the game which is quite decent.
Finally, I'll say it again, triforce is **** because it's just too expensive. Other offensive items do just as well or even better (Ghostblade, Brutalizer or Hexdrinker are much better alternatives).

All mice have a maximum dpi, you can adjust the speed up to the maximum through the computer itself or even above that maximum with certain software...but how high a mouse's dpi is determines the maximum sensitivity it can have. Cursor acceleration can be adjusted to give the illusion of higher dpi, but it doesn't actually increase the sensitivity. Cheaper mice tend have lower dpi and, therefore, lower sensitivity.
and the $10 mouse I had was what you can get for that cheap around here (and a major reason I had issues very early on with league): tiny, virtually useless for anything but basic web browsing, and didn't last long enough to have been worth buying. That mouse stopped functioning after less than a year of normal use and my current $40 one has virtually paid for itself at $10/year. I don't exactly live in a huge city or even a suburb of one...the last time I looked (which was probably a year ago now), the best buy here only sold keyboards with mice in store, not keyboards alone. Hopefully this has changed or I may just order one on Amazon despite wanting to be able to use the monitor now (my laptop screen is bordering on completely shot, but I don't have the money to replace my laptop atm).
It's not about a spiffy brand name (I go for cheap and usable if possible, which is why I have an offbrand headset, for example), it's about durability. Not about to chuck $200 at a fancy mechanical keyboard, but I'm not gonna buy something that'll just stop functioning in 8 months either.
