Hey there,
I just had a small question / point of discussion.
Wouldn't it be a good idea to remove guides that become 'stale' off of the top 5 list ?.
That way other guides can get some attention (as long as the guides are still 'ideal' or 'fresh').
I've seen too many 90%+ guides that have been 'stale' for like a year already.

In my opinion 'stale' guides should get removed from the top 5.
What do you guys think about this matter ?

Yours Sincerely,
Ex Vi.

Yeah, I agree with this too.
It shouldn't be shown since it is stale anyway.
Old guides should only be visible for the authors to update it.

right ?

So you are basically proposing to change the expired range from 8+ patches to 6+ patches. I don't think it will make much of a difference to be honest, unless you want the top 5 guides of some champion (too lazy to check for examples), to all drop out after a patch where they get a buff or nerf after nothing changing for 5 patches before hand.

If I helped you, click that +rep!

Or he can't wait 4 weeks for the stale guides to expire so he can have a higher spot, hahaha, I'm sure he has the best of intentions.

Thanks to DuskToGlory for the sigs. LOL :)

Working on a Pantheon guide, will finish when I get around to it, could be never.
+Rep? I ran out of witty remarks about this, just do it, or not.

What your proposing is exactly what happens to Expired guides, as Jpikachu pointed out. A lot of guides don't need to be updated all that often if the information is still valid. If the author doesn't come back to update their guide, it'll expire. Just be patient.

@DuskToGlory
No no no, how rude!, that is not my intention at all! 0_o.
(Well... maybe just a little.. xD).
But I'm also looking for a win-win situation which is fair to everyone.

@PsiGuard
But, if you take the 91% Guide i'm always looking at, "harehareEzreal".
The guide is already 'stale' for at least 8 months.
Why is this guide not expiring ?, or is it so that when it gets voted enough it remains active no matter the freshness of the guide ?.

Guides are supposed to expire after they have not been updated for 8 LoL patches. It's a little different than a specific time frame since it depends on how frequently the game is patched.

If you see a guide that you 100% know FOR SURE that has been neglected for more than 8 patches, then that's a bug with the site. It should expire. So either you're exaggerating, you're wrong about the time frame (perhaps he updated not too long ago, then it decayed to stale again), or it's a bug. If it's a bug, report it and it'll be looked into.

So the guide itself is a year and 4/5 months old.
It might've been updated in the meantime though.
But now I understand that the guides expire by itself.

Thanks for the answer on my question.

Yours Sincerely,
Ex Vi.
