I am on board with adding additional categorization to help users find guides. This has come up in discussion a number of times.
One of the major stumbling blocks in doing this is deciding which guides go where. Realistically we have to leave it up to the author, with moderation here and there. Do we allow authors to choose multiple categories? If not, we will get complaints. We already have complaints that authors can't choose both classic and dominion guide types, but if we allow this, many will be tempted to just select everything and put a short paragraph in as justification.
I'm open to suggestions there. The simple solution is just to give authors a single choice for various categories. Choose one game type, choose one role, etc... If you want to include multiple things in your guide, you can, but unless you split it up you don't get the benefit of being in other categories, so you are forced to specialize your guide.

Just as an aside to this, little fun MOBAFire history fact... When we designed the builder while creating MOBAFire, we actually added the multiple champions feature intending to give people the ability to post replays of matches and include the full build information for both teams, or to demonstrate how two teams might be an interesting match up. We just didn't bother putting in restrictions for adding the same champion multiple times (though I'm sure we probably discussed it). Now it is almost exclusively used by authors to post multiple builds of the same champ and I can't think of anyone that has ever posted replays with build info lol... Of course, if we had put in such a restriction, it would have lasted about 1 week before we realized our mistake :)
Anyways, that's off topic, just thought it was funny ;P

To be completely honest, I believe that guides should cater for one gameplay style for one map.
Jungle Twisted Treeline Tyn?
Done.
AD Bot Summoner's Rift Ashe?
Done.
Support Heim+AD Heim Twisted Treeline+Dominion Jungle+Feeder Heim and AP mid too.
Is it necessary?
I think guides should try to cater for one specific style, and you should be able to only check one box, so ie ("x" = yes, "-" = not checked):
Map
(x) Twisted Treeline
(-) Crystal Scar
(-) Summoner's Rift
The guide author should be able to identify which category their guide fits into most. If they've written a Soraka guide with TT, CS and SR in it, but there's more information about TT, then they should realise that the TT side of the guide is most important and should list it as TT.
Interesting about the multiple build thing. Never knew that ^^ You could remove the multiple build thing altogether and just allow for multiple item purchase lists, as items are the main change, along with masteries. (just an idea, I know it's not ideal)

^Ooo, I completely agree. Love the idea of multiple purchases. Just almost entirely eliminates multiple build tabs.
Multiple item builds is coming, could be next after we're done with wiki and updated guides. The new guide page was designed to prepare for it. It's mainly in competition with user profiles (mainly for tracking and notifications) though, for which project we will do next :) Maybe we'll toss up a poll.
I tend to agree with you jhoijhoi. The question is, will authors be cool with it? I suppose we can just do it and see what people say. It's better than doing nothing :)

Considering that the new guide page starts on the build itself and has a page dedicated to said build, I believe adding a little room to show multiple purchases, situational runes, possible mastery pages would be best instead of having multiple build cheat sheets for INDIVIDUAL champion guides.
Guides with multiple champions (as you said, the intended purpose) should of course be able to create multiple cheat sheets.
For example, masteries: why not have the bar of mastery code and clicking on it (or an arrow or something) would expand that selection into the full image and close the current open one? The mastery pages would have to have titles so the intention was clear. (same idea for alternative skilling orders)
For runes, it'd just be nice like in Omeka to be able to have a title so multiple rune sets can be displayed. (same idea for summoner spells)
Just a few ideas, I know you guys are uber busy and working as hard as possible. We all really appreciate the work you do to improve MobaFire :)

It would definitely be nice to be able to show alternatives instead of a completely different build. Sometimes a completely separate cheatsheet works, but often you'll want to say "get this item if they have AD, or this one if they have more AP", which isn't worth an entire cheatsheet to distinguish.
