has anyone seen Hotaru no haka (Grave of the Fireflies)...i had it recommended to me but reading the synopsis makes me want to cry...
Grave of the Fireflies is quite sad. I remember it also being pretty good, but the last time I watched it was some 8 years ago, I think, so I don't trust my memory or judgement of quality entirely.

idk I was just wondering coz I've got a few others to watch but I've been putting the monogatari series off because it is subbed and these others are dubbed I might actually get over the fact that the voice actors annoy me and just watch more subbed animes.
Ur doin it rong. Watched subbed anime. There's worlds of possibilities you're missing out on if you only watch dubbed, just in terms of shows that you won't be able to ever watch. And then there's the simple fact that a lot of dubs suck giant monkey testicles.
As for the -monogatari series in particular, I'm starting to really feel like it's skip-able. You're not really missing much if you don't watch it. Most of its draw is in cinematography (i.e. the framing of various shots) and banter. If you're not into the banter, it's going to be a waste of time.

My posts may be long. If this bothers you, don't read them.

Agreed.
I'm a strong independent black mage who don't need no mana.
I watch mainly dubbed because as bad as some of the dubbing is (angel beats) the Japanese voice actors annoy me for some reason, might just be the tones and **** they use i don't really know but I'll definitely try more subbed animes just because a lot of the good looking ones aren't dubbed. The first animes I watched had fairly good dubs (imo) though so I suppose that's also a reason I stuck with them.
Also while I remember it, Searz, you said this about Freezing: "No person in their right mind would call a series good wherein the heroine's boobs get more characterization than the main character." I just recently rewatched Freezing and I feel you are wrong there as the focus isn't that much on the breasts (boobs w/e you want to call 'em) but on the actual storyline, action/fighting sequences and character development even the main character, sure there is a lot of unnecessary stripping but I don't think it overshadows the actual characters and they don't focus on it as much as it is mostly part of the fighting sequences. I don't want to start another argument, I was just pointing out that you wrongly, in my opinion, summed up the series and maybe put other people off of watching it.

I finished watching Kamisama no Memochou (Heaven's memopad).
It was pretty dull to be honest. The only reason I didn't drop it is because of its sweet OST (except the OP and ED. They were pretty standard) and because I liked the main female character Alice a lot. She was entertaining, awesome, and fun to watch.
This anime simply tried to pull off a Gosick but failed horribly. Not only the main plot was subpar, but it didn't even have a subplot.
It's about a smart detective girl who rarely goes out of her room. She receives requests and cases to solve from strangers and acquaintences, and has friends that help her out in solving the "mysteries". Then comes this main male lame *** character that simply piss you off at first sight out of nowhere, and gets hired instantly by the little girl as her assistant. The problem is that this main character is useless. All he does is either whine at stuff or try to be more noticed, and still look stupid inspite of the numerous attempts he makes to actually sound smart.
The mystery was subpar. ******ed cases to solve, literally. It's like you are given massive spoilers on what's going on during the first half of the episode, enough for you to actually solve the whole case. Then they proceed to drag that case for 2-3 episodes, only to be disappointed by how obvious that was, and how crippling the main male character was again.
There was nothing besides the lame cases. Comedy was average, and there's no subplot: no romance, no drama, only ******ed cases.
If it wasn't for Alice, I'd have instantly dropped it.
TL;DR: Very skippable. Don't bother if you have other anime to watch.
I will be watching next Claymore. I've been putting it on hold for like 2 years now. I guess It's time to watch it.

I really enjoyed Claymore, Would've needed more episodes tough.
