AP Amumu, how to build the Grenade?

How would you build AP Amumu?

I would build something like this:

You're forgetting the important Abyssal Mask.

55 MR reduction real strong along with the MR. You have no defenses other than health and your 10 AA damage reduction on E so, it's good.

Okay, could get this instead of void staff. But if the enemy gets more MR, you need to get void staff. As the grenade, you want to deal as much damage as possible as fast as possible with no real need of defence.

So, I could even swap out RoA. And put in Zhonya's there for dat 2 seconds, because anyone will focus you. Then I would get wota first, because of the sustain in the jungle.

55 MR reduction is way enough, having both this and a void staff would be overkill in a lot of situation.
And I guess your role is not to destroys tanks, right ? :D

RoA is your only mana item, I dont know how AP mumu works but some manapool would help in "long" team fight to run around with your W. I dont really remember the manacost of his spells and his base manapool, I could be wrong here.
If you want to play with Wota, then you could survive enough time to see that problem appears ...
(trololol W activated while in zhonya with spellvamp)

In fact, Roa + Rylai + Zhonya + Abyssal give you a nice hp - armor - mr mix, with good amount of AP but bring the choice between Rabaddon and Wota ...

I guess you simply can not have a defined build, zhonya may be useless in certain situation, same for rylai ...
But I would put the spellvamp revolver (part of Wota) way earlier, no real need to finish the Wota quickly but that little spellvamp should help a lot, as the AP mumu cant have good defensive stats early.
Revolver - catalyst - big items

You could even sell the spell vamp item later in the game.

Full ap build will lead you to certain doom, you're a target of high priority AND have to go in yourself.

Half-half sounds more reasonable, trying to be off-tank:
Drop WotA/Void/Rabadon, maybe even Rylai's and get yourself things like F.Heart/Abyssal/GA in return

Long teamfights? Grenade Mumu should be squishy, deal instantly pathetic amounts of damage and then die.

i'd say get pen reds, sorc shoes, abyssal, and amumu's passive.


thats 84 mpen, and the enemy would have to have.. 209 mr for void staff to be a better choice.

@Dacurse the point of AP Amumu is to Q in, ER, then die. That's it. The other team will be too beat up to do anything afterwards.

Also, need a Lich Bane. Synergy with combo.

Wait, what did you say? Amumu goes in for 2 skills and his ulti, so that the latter amounts to 3/4 of his perilousness?
Whoa, that's amazing you know? I can't find the words to describe this... wait,
doesn't tank Mumu has the same ulti with less dmg?


To be frank, his great dmg potential lies in the ability to stay alive in the midst of battle, that's why some AP is great on him but only half-half at best.

Not to mention, if some enemy is fast enough to silence/stun/fear him while he bandage tosses himself between 5 enemies....
and that full tank mumu (abyssal maybe), who stays close to the enemy for around 10secs does the same dmg like full AP mumu that lives 2sec..

Edit:
Guess a pretty well-known build:
  • 9/21/0 masteries
  • flatAP Quints,MPen marks,flatAr seals, lvlMR glyphs
  • RoA, Sorc's boots, Abyssal, F.Heart, Lich Bane, GA.

2,8k Hp + 260 Ar + 185 MR + 32% CDR

And still 250 AP/84 Mpen
