It might be only me but i feel that tankwick is a reply to tanks beeing overpowered in this game.

It is way easier to play tankwick since you will just soak alot of damage.

Personaly i dont like playing like this, and that is a well known statement of mine, i just feel that when i play a dps champ i play a dps champ. if i want to offtank i go for Mundo or APkaiser or any similar oftank champ.

I play a bit more carefully, but thanks to that i am able to solo the carries and act like anticarry dpser. You cant do it on tank build since you will lack the damage. % based damage is nice but if you consider that enemy will have lifesteal it wont be enaugh to maintain good health even with those defensive items. The good thing is that you will be quite unkillable for casters, but if you build it more offensivly you will kill casters within your ulti+hs.

Tankwick is more user friendly and way easier to play. While he is not that self-sufficient as dps one.

"Tank"wick is better for the sole reason of being melee. He needs 1 or 2 on hit items to deal damage tho. If he was ranged I'd switch the durability items for damage.

As much as people talk about how Madred's is the only item WW really needs to do damage, that's a bit OP, no? :P

But seriously though, Wriggle's can't possibly hurt getting for early game. Most people have even stated that Madred's is next to useless in comparison that early. And I don't see what the problem is with building more than one offensive item. I mean, he is somewhat an offensive champion...

If you are really that worried about defense, drop the Guardian. I have never seen it work out for people, especially on the enemy team. It's even funnier when they rush it from the start.

Warwick isn't going to stand up to much of the other Off-tank/DPS out there. He honestly doesn't have enough damage going that hard on defense. I say just go with the game. Get a Thornmail if you need it. Go for Banshee's Veil if it will make you feel better. These are basic things that basically anybody would find useful if they are being targeted. Just don't straight tank it.

Warwick is meant to be a lot like Olaf, and Udyr. A bruiser/fighter.

You need 1~2 core offensive items.
(In WW's case, Madreds, and Wit's End are fabulous because they also add defenses.)

Then you NEED to build up some defensive items.

A lot of people used to build him straight AD/DPS because he pubstomped well.
This is why it became a underlying phenomenon that he had a weak late-game. It wasn't until the AoE Metagame got nerfed that people started responding by building Warwick more tanky.

However, he's no replacement for a real tank.
He's a bruiser, an offtank, etc..

Lol, found this in the main forums.
Seems pretty relevant in my opinion.
Tank items are a must to survive late game, otherwise you really become a one trick pony with your ultimate.

A few tank items, yes. But doesn't everybody survive better with tank items? Almost every champion I play (unless I get fed) ends up with tank items of some sort late game. That way I can survive somebody else's attacks while still being able to kill them. I get defensive items only accordingly...

The most common warwick people see is guardsman bob. hes always played warwick as a tanky caster, but it makes sense. dps warwick is just begging to get killed. teams fear warwick not for his damage, but for his ult. the utility of it is insane. its a flash with a suppression. if you are even remotely squishy you will die. and warwick is a natural candidate for tank anyways, so why not? he just doesnt die.
