Is there a new meta for s3?

There a new meta for s3? I've been seeing adc/bruisers mid over ap. I was wondering is there a new meta or is it still in the works? If the later is the case could someone provide me with a sort of framework that's "becoming" the new meta.

While we're still fairly early in the season, there have been one new trend popping up throughout the ELOs. Most prominently, the rise of AD casters, bruisers, and assassins in the mid lane. While there were some there before, such as Talon, it wasn't really popularized until the release of the new Black Cleaver, which increased the win ratio of many of these champions by several percentage points.

Now it is fairly commonplace to see champions such as Pantheon, Kha'Zix, Talon and many other such champions in the mid lane. Heck, Shushei even played a mid lane Garen and was fairly successful. Depending on the champion, they can also make appearences in top lane, but not nearly as often as mid I find. Other than that, the meta is still fairly similar, although supports generally have more money and build fairly differently with the introduction of Sightstone and the removal of Heart of Gold.

Overall the meta didn't change that radically, we still have the 1 - 1 - 2 setup with a jungler. However certain champions and items got a lot more popular. Assassins such as Talon, Zed and Kha'Zix *cough* OP as **** *cough* are very popular and very strong now. The current Black Cleaver + Last Whisper made armour stacking nearly useless which caused an increased popularity in Warmog's Armor (Health stacking counters % armour penetration).

Important is to realise what a bruiser mid does and how to play against it as AP. Most classic mid-laners cannot burst bruisers or win straight up fights but they make up for that with increased AoE damage and higher utility. The "old meta" or classic AP mid setup thus wants teamfights whereas the "new meta" wants laning with double bruiser ganks (e.g. Lee Sin mid and Amumu jungle).

Lastly, supports and junglers saw a huge change with the removal of Heart of Gold and the addition of Sightstone and Hunter's Machete. Machete is pretty much required to jungle and Sightstone is core on supports. The jungle now favours single-target a lot more which made some tank junglers a bit slower but still very viable.

Overall, not really a new meta but a new way of playing the current meta.

    1. LW is penetration, TBC is reduction.
    2. LW grants 35% penetration not 40%.
    3. I've never heard of a cap on % penetration.

Rushing on top is something i see fairly often nowadays. And a little correction, Last Whisper alone has 40% ArP (its capped now) while Last Whisper+ Black Cleaver is 55% ArP, is it just me who thinks building both is kind of stupid?

If by new meta you mean that the roles are in different lanes than before then I'd say no. But there has been some changes. Alot of ad combos because of the new bc. You don't necessarily need ap on your team (pro tip: ban the bug).
Jungle got harder to kill but junglers got alot of new items replacing the gp10 ( Mobility Boots are now really strong). And supports don't need to go gp10 anymore either (finally) because they don't have to constantly spend money on wards ( Sightstone).
One quite important change is the nerf of boots and the Crystalline Flask that has been added. This has the result that alot of laners now start flask, potions and wards (mostly top, mid and support) making it harder for junglers.
Stacking health is pretty much op since it's so cheap...

We'll have to see what the pros come up with in the next tourney (=
Maybe everything will still change? :D I don't think so though.

Hope I'm not way to late xD
