Views: 1308 Viability of a Seraph's Embrace
|
Hey guys and welcome to another one of my installements!
Today i will be talking about the Seraph's Embrace
The Seraph's Embracebuilds out of a Archangel's Staff which is at a Total Price: 2700
It is a great item giving 60 Ability Power, 1000 Mana, 10 Mana Regeneration. Also a UNIQUE Passive called Insight: Gain Ability Power equal to 3% of your maximum Mana. UNIQUE Active: Mana Shield: Drains 20% of your current Mana to shield yourself for an equal amount + 150 for 3 seconds. 120 second cooldown. Seraph's Embrace is obtained by gaining full Mana Charge on Archangel's Staff (750 bonus Mana).
But who exactly is it viable for? Would you use it on any AP caster? My own opinion on that matter is no, you should not be getting it on every AP caster you can get your hands on.
-''But Nera it's 1000 more mana and it would fix all my mana issues, combo that with the 10 mana regen and your set!''
Not exactly... on any ordinary AP caster you have to constantly cast your spells over and over and some ap caster have very long cooldowns... the longer the cooldown on your spells the longer it is for you to reach that mana cap and getting all those extra bonuses.
I personally find that it is best to get Tear of the Goddess on Casters with:
1) very short cooldowns that can spam their abilities often such as Ryze,Nidalee(post-6),Sona etc.
2) Or champions that have toggle abilities such Singed Poison Trail or Anivia's Glacial Storm.
These champions can scale that mana charge very fast. I'll take it from my own personal experience with Singed on the Twisted Treeline map. Within about 10-12 minutes i usually have the Tear fully charged and ready to become a Seraph's.
Also i find that this item is more viable on Champions who have some kind of ability scaling off of mana such as Singed Passive Empowered Bulwark Or even most of Ryze's abilities which scale off of mana.
What do you guys think of this item? Should it become more common on more builds? Or should its hidden potential be hidden forever? Leave your comments and opinions below and i shall try to get to you all! Thank you for reading another installment of my blog, hope you enjoyed it and see you next time!

Lets be serious here Singed was a **** and banned on TT before the new items came out and he got this xD
I liked it better when I was under level 30 and every Singed was just running around and getting killed.
Seraph's Embrace also combos nicely with Rod of Ages by turning you into a pretty monstrous lategame threat. You generate a colossal amount of AP by finishing into Rabadon's Deathcap + Void Staff while also having some early game utility and sustain.
And this item, ladies and gentlemen, makes Singed a worthy permaban in 3v3 ranked. He becomes ridiculously tanky early on due to his passive, and unless denied farm and zoned out (which is hard without good team coordination, i.e. in normal match) of farming range.
The worst part is, the amount of Singed players who know what they're doing is increasing...
Whether wise or not, people are more and more often building a Tear, which may or may not be a warning sign.

That's a pretty normal Ryze build. The Negatron Cloak can be built into Abyssal Mask, Spirit Visage or Banshee's Veil, or you could skip it entirely for something like a Guardian Angel.
Ryze builds Archangel's Staff, Manamune, Frozen Heart, Iceborn Gauntlet, Sorcerer's Shoes, and then has a 6th slot left over for situational stuff.
Disagree.
Where's the Rod of Ages? And since when has Iceborn Gauntlet become core on Ryze? Or necessarily building both Tear of the Goddess items?
@drakon i think you are right on the criteria's worded just about the same way i put it just more direct:D. and ryze builds more muramana? really? hmmmm oh the possibilities:D
- They want a ton of AP
- They like having a large amount of mana
- They like having the shield active
- They can stack a Tear of the Goddess quickly
If I remember correctly, this applies to all of them. Well, not Ryze, since he builds Muramana instead.
