Hello and welcome to the MOBAFire Patch Summary - 7.16!

We're only two patches away from 7.18, which is the patch that Worlds will be played on. This means Riot's taking steps to fix and balance champions and items for the competitive worlds environment. Expect regular balance updates over the next couple patches, but not many sweeping changes.

This patch also includes some new UI functionality both in and out of game. Keep reading for more details below.

All Random Ultra Rapid Fire (ARURF) is back from 8/11/17 12:00 PT to 8/24/17 11:59PM PT (Yes, the entire duration!) Enjoy superspeed cooldowns, infinite mana, blazing attack speeds, randomized champ select, and the return of Runeterra's most renowned manatee.

Check out the full patch notes for details on any changes that interest you.

Notable Champion Changes

Caitlyn: Piltover Peacemaker passthrough damage down, Yordle Snap Trap bonus damage down.

Kayn: No longer gains transformation progress from ticks of Corrupting Potion, Deathfire Touch , red buff or Skirmisher's Sabre's Challenging Smite. Can once again mark targets for Umbral Trespass even if his damage is blocked by a shield.

Maokai: Sapling Toss deals less damage at early ranks.

Sion: Soul Furnace grants more health for small unit kills. Unstoppable Onslaught deals significantly more maximum damage.

Cassiopeia: Lower base mana early game, Twin Fang damage rescaled (more at rank 1, less at rank 5, 0.1 higher AP scaling).

Galio: Hero's Entrance cooldown increased at early ranks and damage reduction reduced at later ranks.

Orianna: Command: Dissonance damage lowered and functions more predictably. Command: Protect shield lowered by 20.

Syndra: Dark Sphere AP ratio lowered, Scatter the Weak AP ratio increased.

Taliyah: Threaded Volley mana cost increased by 10 at rank 1 up to 30 at rank 5.

Item Changes

Mana Coin Reward: 15% ⇒ 10% of missing mana (applies to all items in the Ancient Coin line).
Combine Cost: 525 ⇒ 600 gold (2500 total gold)
Updated VFX to improve clarity

Other Changes

  • "Enemy ward here" has been added as a keybinding option in the "Communication" section of the in-game Hotkeys menu! (It’s not currently bindable through the client). It has no default keybinding so you’ll need to manually set one.

  • Your champion’s portrait in the HUD now uses your skin’s splash! (This is the big circle to the left of your abilities. Kill callouts, the minimap, etc. will still use base splashes for immediate recognizability.)

  • Cleaned up some extraneous visuals in Spectator Mode, such as blue/red circles and lines.

  • The skin selection menu will now pop up as soon as you've locked your champion. No more waiting until the draft phase is over!

  • The Free to Play Champion rotation will always be 10% of the current champion roster. Today, that means 14 champions, up from the longstanding 10.

  • Fixed a bug where Rift Herald would hit both Nexus turrets simultaneously if spawned on the mid-lane.

  • Honor level-up notifications will no longer pop in matchmaking, champ select, or the Honor ceremony because that was a tilter.
