He seems reasonably balanced out of the gate. His early game is weaker, but his Mid and late game feel better. Having two slows in his kit helps him stick to his targets better than before. His ult is quite handy for mitigating a lot of damage during team fights or in 2v1s with at least one ranged champion and it and/or the slows helps him have a little space to decided if you really want to be all-in or not, which was something he didn't have in his old kit.
I've found going three damage items in a row leaves him too squishy. Two damage items + some tank stats, which you might finish up with some more damage depending on what your team needs seems to work reasonably well.

Decided to pull together a group for the 5 man melee only mission. decided if i couldn't have an adc I would just take theirs and locked in morde. Top fed against kennen, not surprising given it was a ****ty matchup for him. I laned against a rumble mid and bot/jg did their thing.

I was on comms with two of the other players and I am like we just need to keep repelling them long enough for our inhibitors to come back up and it make take two or three times of that before we can actually win and it took about that long. Urgot the most satisfying champion to play with? His ultimate alone is enough of a reason to like him. BTW, what starting item did you buy?

I definitely find his ult satisfying, but I also find the play pattern that leads up to a successful ult satisfying. It is like a little mini game to set them up for the hard fall. I also like that you can often 2 v 1 their laner and their jungler if you play your cards right.
I've been starting fairly conservatively.
