I currently have ap per level for glyphs cause I runed for Leblanc when I hit 20 but they are pretty bad on most champions.

For my next glyph set I think cdr is the way to go since I’ve bought a few support champs and there are also plenty of tanks/carrys who use cdr. CDR seems better to me cause it lets you harass early and isn’t surpassed until level 14. I guess the argument for cdr per level is that you don’t have much mana to spam early anyway and the small boost at level 18 is notable on champions with high CD ults who don’t purchase CDR gear?

In short: Is CDR per level worth it?

I usually find that CDR/level is very situational. It depends which champion you want to use them on, as well as how you're building them. I use Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction in my Alistar guide for two reasons.

1. I need the CDR late-game more than early, so I can be useful in team fights. Early game I generally do my combo and back off.
2. Alistar's abilities become more expensive with level, so I can't really afford to spam them until my Greater Seal of Scaling Mana Regeneration catches up to compensate.

As you can see, I have very champion-specific reasons for choosing Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction. If you want CDR runes, you should usually opt for Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction, as they are some of the strongest flat runes in the game.

If you're looking for an alternative set of glyphs, I've found that Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist works very well on a variety of champions. They're very cheap too, if you're short on IP, while Greater Glyph of Cooldown Reduction are rather expensive. It's up to you which glyphs to choose, but I don't recommend buying Greater Glyph of Scaling Cooldown Reduction unless you have a very good reason.
Thanks to Lugignaf for the sig!

In case you still wanted a second opinion (though you shouldn't, seeing as PsiGuard knows what he's talking about ^^), here's Searz's guide to Runes.

I was gonna leave it alone since Psi already said everything needed, but since you revived the thread I'll just leave my agreement here >:3

basically what was said above is all correct...

my theory is to get scaling if you plan on midding or soloing most often with that champion, and flats for laning/jungling, since you will be getting to 13 (the turnover point) pretty damn quick in mid/solo top, not so much if you are duo or ganking often (as you should with a jungler).

Although as mentioned, some champions benefit more from early and more from late game CDR too, so it is somewhat champ dependent.

I would say get both, but start off with scaling since they are still very beneficial and are half the price of flats...and also if you are LeBlanc you should be going mid :P

^^ this. With Nidalee I go 5 flat CDR and 4 CDR/level. Really depends on the situation, if you are going to scale them off pretty quickly, then yes they are good. If you're going to sit in a duo lane they won't be as effective.

If you wanna combine I'd go for 3 or 6 flat since they provide close to 2 and 4 percent CDR. Makes it easier to keep track of your CDR.

For me the flat ones are muuch better, they provide a bit less and the per level only get them on level 13... And the difference isn't much: 5,85% for flat and 8,1% for per levels...

Ultimate with 150 seconds on level 18 (I think this not exist, but I took a high number for example):
Flat -> 141,225 seconds
Per level -> 137,85 seconds

100 seconds spell:
Flat -> 94,15 seconds
Per level -> 91,9 seconds

50 seconds spell:
Flat -> 47,075 seconds
Per level -> 45,95 seconds

10 seconds spell:
Flat -> 9,415 seconds
Per level -> 9,19 seconds

But, level 18 the CD's on spells aren't 150...
You would probally have another CDR item and masteries...
Early and Mid game flat's are better, and loose only late on, for 3 seconds or less... Yes, its a lot of time, but I prefer flat's because they help you much more than per level, IMO
Thx for Nyoike for this sig! Tanks FTW s2
