Even though it's stale, it still works for me. Very well, especially as solo top. It is certainly an anti-AP build, and I like madalin's remarks above. I'm going to try his/her comments for an AD team and see how it goes. Voted +1

Your build is awsome, but very specific, it's an off-tank Garen specially designed to battle a team made of extreme magic DPSs, something like Annie, Brand, Malzahar, Ryze, Veigar. Such a team is very hard to come buy in practice, as no guys in their right minds would ever make a team of glass-cannons and most people use more than one champion as their main. Other than that, you should lose the Hexdrinker and buy something much more AD oriented like IE. Also, again, if u don't really, really, really need the MR, you should buy Boots of Swifteness, Garen has no actually closing-gap skills except the extra-speed from Decisive Strike so a +30 to movement speed really matters. This is the same reason you should consider buying Phantom Dancer instead of Ghostbalde,I know Garen is not much of an auto-attacker, but think of it this way: with it, along with IE, and Atma's Impaler your critical hit chance will rise to an incredible 73%, and remember Judgement crits. Of course, only the added ratio doubles, but with IE and Atma's that ratio will be huge, and...remember IE makes criticals triple the damage instead of double, so...OP...

Don't want to insult your ideeas, but if u go against a team of AD monsters(which are much more common) u will get obliterated towards the end of the game, you will simply not have the damage to stand up to guys like Xin, Nocturne, Master Yi, Gangplank, Jax, not to mention Tryndamere, you really want the "******* of Demacia"(btw, I really don't like that nickname, Garen is a noble knight and should be treated like one) to be raped by a dirty, intellectually unevolved barbarian?

Works okay, but could work much better with Atmog's and Sunfire Cape.

Well, Randuin's Omen is a bit a overkill of your armor. You should get Force of Nature instead.

And instead of Hexdrinker, how about Infinity Edge, with an early B. F. Sword? Combined with Atma's Impaler ~50% crit chance. Combined with Youmuu's Ghostblade even more.

Never forget Courage and it's resists. And you have mres-runes.

I also have Armor Runes. It's irrelevant. Regardless, if you'd prefer another item, then take it; but this build has always worked for me without a need for huge, expensive damage items, and the utility of the items gel. It's cohesive.
