You don't need Sheen to push towers.
Her builds consist of lots of AD and
Youmuu's Ghostblade is core. That's all the pushing power any DPS champ really needs.

trinity force is still good on her though, xyphereous just wanted it to not be core.
the difference being that lee sin has 10 higher base ad and actually gains 24 health to his shield.
they're both champions that don't use all the stats it gives but because riven has less ad its not 'core'?

Neither Q nor E can let you pass through walls. Don't even bother trying.
Xypherous couldn't find a wall thin enough, so he disabled it entirely. The dashes do move you but are pretty short.
They're mainly for sticking to a target or re-positioning. Not escape tectics.
She's counter balanced by how squishy she needs to be to deal good damage. The incentives to build AD are very strong, making building tanky less viable.

If they want resource-less heroes to make it easier for newbies to grasp the game, that's fine, but then those heroes should also be markedly weaker than the others due to their ease of use.

Thanks to Jsta for the sig image.
I'll take criticism, but don't hate!
I've been having success with the following:
Doran's Blade
Ionian Boots of Lucidity
Infinity Edge
Trinity Force [insert AD item here] [insert situational item here] [insert situational item here]]
When I'm just straight crushing, I tend to grab a
Bloodthirster and a
Hextech Gunblade. The gunblade is so whenever you cast a spell, you have spell vamp!
R > Q > AA > Q > AA > W > AA > Q > R for a typical combo. This lets you sustain yourself pretty well, you really do need to know when to go in, and when to get out with Riven no matter what build you have.
If I'm doing ok, or not so hot, make Riven more into a tanky dps so she can survive a few hits to get her damage out. Riven should not be initiating, based on her ult and her kit, she's more of a finisher, or a skirmisher.

I disagree. No mana champions have more early game sustainable power, but it also means that late-game their abilities are still balanced with 'no mana' in mind... whereas most champs late game can forget about mana anyway (and have skills which are balanced to be more powerful because of mana costs).
the closest comparison i can think of is
Reap and
Bouncing Blades
dark wind has more power, can hit more enemies, and can even strike the same person 3 times. while bouncing blade deals slightly less damage but only hits 2 enemies, can't strike the same person twice, and deals reduced damage with each hit.

Her passive doesn't hit on towers.
This is true, but she also proc's sheen really well since each Q can proc it if you wait the 2 seconds before casting again. In this sense she can push and take down a tower pretty quickly.

Her solo top is pretty strong if you rush Wriggles. Actually, her sustainability is pretty sick with wriggles in general.
Still playing around with rather Phantom Dancer is worth getting for full carry, also playing with mixing and matching the various armor pen and reduc items. Still lots to try out with her unique skill set.
Atmog's and Fatma's are both very viable on her as well, I've just currently only had complete snowball games, so sustainability hasn't been necessary when you 2-shot... everything.

Re-evaluating sheen's usefulness: Still not core but makes for a niche item if it's called for for tower pushing. Does her passive work on towers?
