Lich Bane can grant magic resist and armor too if you're counting his passive.

No, that would put you over the preferred amount of CDR for an AP carry.
CDR boots are plenty.

The only thing I was pointing out was you asking "when the **** it gave armor" and gave you the answer. I'm in agreement with temzilla as to why it is not a good choice.


edit: lich bane is an interesting thought, but its expensive and you really don't want to be auto-attacking. He can auto-attack while in siege mode, but it does not increase his range obviously.

@Dufftime:
Name any other caster who has a <1 s cooldown spell with such low cost, I don't think there are any. So he is the fastest one to stack tear up in the game and later on AA grants 128 AP at level 18 and fully stacked. My Karthus survives from insane damage (AA, Death Cap, Void Staff) & WotA, with normally a veil as the only pure defense. This is not even considering the nice mana pool it gives him.

I was thinking more along the lines of when he's NOT in Locus-mode and dealing with melees trying to push him over like a turret.

Yea, of course. I was just thinking of that as a bonus :P

He's not supposed to be in close quarters when using it anyways, but it'll still be a little helpful for when you're skirmishing (or staying in tower mode for the damage, not range).

If he shuld be in a situation where he needed to deal with melees he would either:

A. Use spells on them

or

B. Run away waiting for cooldowns to come back.

Lichbane is more often than not a bad choice because of this
