Yesterday was the last day of the champ rotation so i wanted to test yi. I played a custom game, and in the rush of it all started getting him items that build attack speed and critical damage. it worked wel i guess, it took me 5 strikes at Malphite +ulti, Q,E (sometime ignite) and he died. So it worked well in a bot game, but does building Yi with attack speed pay off? Or is better to go sme other way?

Attack Speed isn't bad since it plays off his passive well. But just building Attack Speed and nothing else will have you tickling actual champions that will build armor to cater against you. If anyone gets a Thornmail, you may as well kiss you game goodbye and go try to backdoor. It's not bad to get maybe 2 Phantom Dancer at the most, but get some damage to compensate.

I'm not a professional at AD carries, but I believe that Yi does great with AS and Crit. It should work well in normal games as well since your passive gives you a lot of attack damage. Although crit and AS looks great, you'll have to invest in a Brutalizer OR a Wriggle's for some early game damage. And you'll need to top it off with a cherry on top by acquiring Infinity Edge for uber damage.

I would play Yi as the following:

- Berserker's Greaves* (switch to Mercury's Treads at late game)
- Wriggle's Lantern* (or go with The Brutalizer then upgrade to Youmuu's Ghostblade)
- Zeal
- Phage
- Phantom Dancer*
- Infinity Edge*
- Frozen Mallet*

* indicates core item

Last item (choose one of each for situational games):
- Quicksilver Sash
- Guardian Angel
- Banshee's Veil

Yi is a lot of fun. He can be a little squishy at first but once a got a build going, with the help of your team, you can do a lot of damage in a very short period of time (His ult can be ridiculous). I have started my most recent games with Beserker's Greaves, Last Whisper for Damage and armor Pen. and Phantom Dancer. This should make you a good anti tank mid game or so. You might eventually drop LW late game for something else.

I think you need only one attack speed item like Phantom Dancer. You already get so much from ultimate. I think best build is something like this:

-Boots
-1 AS Item
-1 Life Steal Item
-1 HP item
-1 defensive item
-1 damage item

So if you go like this, you can end up with Mercury's Treads, Phantom Dancer, Bloodthirster, Frozen Mallet, Quicksilver Sash and Infinity Edge. Gives you plenty damage due to Infinity, Phantom and Bloodthirster while you are tanky SoB due to Mallet, Mercury's and Quicksilver.

You can check out my guide, try it and post your feedback(its jungle and laning).
