just health is not the best way to build tanky you need a litlle bit of armour or MR depending on match, i recomend a sunfire cape because it gives you the health a little bit of armour and the damage if you can stay around the entire team without dieng!

Maokai has been my main for a long time now, and i find that he can get tanky with other items. For early laning, a Sheen is absolutely necessary. Pick it up once you buy the basic Boots, then finish Mercury's Treads after you get your sheen. Let the sheen hang around for awhile, and grab a Glacial Shroud for more mana and armor, and more importantly the CDR. At this time you can choose to either finish off Frozen Heart or go for a Rylai's Crystal Scepter for the health and more ap. After that, make sure your Frozen Heart is finished and finish building your Sheen into a Lich Bane for the mres, sheen proc, and more ap. Those are the core items that synergize very will with Maokai. After that possibilities include Abyssal Mask, Force of Nature, Banshee's Veil, Guardian Angel, Zhonya's Hourglass if you want to build the tree that never dies. Every single item offers defense, yet also do not gimp your damage output. The trick to being a good tank is to be hearty and incredibly tough, but still do enough damage to make people want to target you and disrupt their team cohesion so they don't focus your carry the way they should be. Mind games, baby.

As far as the runes and masteries go, armor yellows, mres glyphs, ap quints, and mana regen reds. Masteries are pretty much OK, you just dont really need the one that lets you keep buffs longer, as a top you dont usually have them, and you shouldnt need any of them if you are a tank.

Just as a side note, you should probably put in a gameplay section in your guide, because laning top with mao is way different than midding with mao is way different than jungling with mao is way different than support mao, lawl. Maybe putting in a "this champ you can own, this champ is a challenge to lane against, this champ will cream you" section as well.

Overall you have the formatting down, just doing some adjusting of the items and runes and add a few more sections and you should have a great guide XD

Hmm...

Why buy Heart of Gold and philosopher's stone if you don't build them into anything else? You can replace one Warmog's Armor with Randuin's Omen or Shurelya's Battlesong.

Also, what the above said. You need some kind of threat in a team fight. Consider a Sheen/ Trinity Force or some tanky AP items so you actually do something in fights.

I understand your gimic here, the whole health regen thing, but the problem is that you've built an indestructible tank that serves no purpose for your team. No one is going to attack you, they'll simply ignore you since they know they can't kill you. It reminds me a little of back when people used to build Mordekaiser pure tank and I was always told to just ignore Morde until he's the last one left in teamfights. As a tank your job is to keep the carries alive, but without a taunt, you've got a difficult time getting others to attack you with such long cooldowns on Twisted Advance and arcane smash. Replace your first Warmog's Armor with Rod of Ages so your abilities can chunk a bit more throughout the game, and replace your second Warmogs with Randuin's Omen so you can maintain your health regen gimic but also help your team with the active effect.
