Im a xin player who got bored and switched over to jax. Honesty the guides on mobafire for jax leaves me very confused and I would like a little help. Currently my jax build is...MASTERIES: 4/4 mental force, 4/4 alacrity, 4/4 sorcery, 1/1 weapon expertise, 1/1 arcane, 3/3 havoc, 3/3 vamp, 1/1 vamp....

RUNES: 2 greater quint dest, 7 greater mark of dest, 3 greater glyph warding

PURCHASE ORDER: dorans ring, tabi, rageblade, sheen, gunblade, rylais, lich etc as per a guide setup by Vasarius.

I know im lacking in the rune dept (ran out of ip) but I guess id like some input on my setup. Also, Id like some input on attack order..what I do now is empower then leapstrike. What im not sure of is when to activate counter strike and the ult. Ive asked other players ingame while I was playing xin and most of them focus on attack speed to proc rageblade and the ult....any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not an expert on rune pages, however know this: while runes are certainly helpful, they do not replace the player. You could be playing against a person who spent 15k ip on their runes and stomp on them just because you play better. As for the attack order, when I play as jax, i find it successful to counterstrike, empower, then leap strike as coutnerstrike is about to stun. This way they get whacked across the face with a glowing lamppost, and are immediately stunned thereafter. It's less "obvious" when to use his ult, however in general use it when you believe you are in a fight where someone will die. By this i mean that if you think it will be a skirmish then run, such as Dr. Mundo throwing a cleaver then running away, then dont bother. However, if a major teamfight is about to go down, you will want that ult up and running :D

I'm not a great Jax player, but here's my thoughts. Someone else would probably give better information, but here's what I think.

Runes:

While Runes may not seem like they make that big of a difference, they actually make a significant change early game.

9x Greater Mark of Attack Damage OR 9x Greater Mark of Magic Penetration
9x Greater Seal of Armor
9x Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist
3x Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage OR 3x Greater Quintessence of Desolation

Masteries:

21/9/0, look here. Possibly this, as I don't have a ton of experience with Jax.

Purchase Order:

Boots + 3x Health Potions OR Cloth Armor + 5x Health Potions
Mercury's Treads OR Ninja Tabi
Hextech Gunblade starting with Bilgewater Cutlass
Guinsoo's Rageblade
Rylai's Crystal Scepter
Trinity Force
Situational Item

Skills:

To level 4: Empower, Leap Strike, Empower, Counter Strike
After that: Max R > W > Q > E

Combo:

Counter Strike, Leap Strike, auto attack, then immediately Empower, as it allows you to do 2 auto attacks in the time of pretty much one. You pretty much always want to Empower right after an auto attack, when going for damage, as that provides great burst damage. If you can time it so that you auto attack, and then Empower with your Master-At-Arms passive procc'ed, then that deals really amazing burst damage.

Master-At-Arms is best used during a teamfight after Leap Strikeing in, as it allows you to be extremely resilient when you jump in with Leap Strike. It's a good idea to use it if you engage on your lane opponent. This allows you to shake off some of your opponent's damage, and can really surprise your opponent.

That's about all I know, if you want better information, I'm not the guy to look for. I just have knowledge of a lot of the mechanics of LoL, but I'm not a great Jax player. Hope this helped!

If I helped you, click that +rep!
