I deal with it by pointing out the stupidity of it. I won't EVER deal with stupidity by accepting it and thus just don't care. To quote from Boondock Saints (which is a bible quote I think): "Now, we must all fear evil men. But there is another kind of evil which we must fear most, and that is the indifference of good men. "
Which means I will speak up, even if I do it in vain.
Yet it is ignorant to speak up against such a view. It's the simple fact that humans have been bred to be self-centered. They don't care if you gave a ten paragraph post to answer the question given, because it is not there question. On the other hand, when someone makes you laugh you instantly want to thank them because it involves THEM. Therefore they show it through +rep and will never change, because humanity's natural existence is one of self-interest.
Or to put it simply.

^ Because it causes inflated scores, guides get stuck at #1 and everyone is too afraid to downvote for fear of retaliation. Mobafire had permanent C2V once, before I was even a member.
That said, this still happens in the current system. :P
