And since you have weaker AD/AP ratios than before and compared to other AP mids early on, you really need to go straight damage in order to keep up. I never got [[rylai's crystal scepter]] on new or old Kat. Why slow when I can kill? I did get [[hextech gunblade]] on the old Kat as it offered the best sustain/damage/utility that rylai's couldn't offer for Kat. On the new Kat, I don't get [[hextech gunblade]] or even [[hextech revolver]]. Her early AP ratios are so horrible I can heal more from 2 or 3 [[health potion]]s than revolver. Her AD ratios are almost nonexistent, so getting [[hextech gunblade]] is not cost effective anymore. The slow is negligible as her [[death lotus]] now only last 2 seconds instead of 3, so you can pull off a full ult. I just rush [[rabadon's deathcap]] and [[deathfire grasp]] to snowball hard and get the resets off to chain kills. If you can deny her farm and abuse her weak early damage by out-trading her, you win the lane, and usually the game. Most AP mids are stronger and can out harass her, except [[morgana]] and [[karthus]].[/quote]
