Well I haven't played him much, but when I did play him I played him mid, and my laning phase was pretty much the same as Morgana's. Afk farm with E. And from what I've heard of AP nasus, most of his damage is meant to come from afk'ing in the middle of their team with his ult on, rather than Siphoning Strike.

True maybe I exaggerated too much on how much damage comes from Siphoning Strike+ Lich Bane. More like 1/4 or 1/5? I'd rather spam Q than just afk in the middle of the team though lol. Kill a lot faster :D. I might try that one day though. Watch everyone on their team focus me while I afk and do huge chunks of damage each second xD. Or while they focus my carries and ignore the tanky-ish Nasus next to them that's doing around 10% of their max health each second lol.

Full AP Nasus still deals 90% of his damage as physical bacause of Lich Bane.
You go top, farm all day long like rehular nasus, and buy tanky AP itmes (RoA, Abyssal n stuph).
Buy a lich bane, hit your farmed q for 1k, profit.

I remember realease Nasus, where his ulty scaled 1/1 with ap.

That build doesn't leave you very tanky tbh.
Whenever I get him in ARAMs, I end the game with, in no particular order, Rabadon's Deathcap, Abyssal Mask, Lich Bane, Frozen Heart, Ionian Boots of Lucidity and then a situational item.
Yes, I have gotten pentas with it. 2 times in fact. :P
I'm using standard AP masteries too so, take that as you will.

I made this thread to look for opinions on AP Nasus. He was the first champ I ever played( I started LoL during his free week eventually I liked him and bought him). He was really fun but a mana hungry beast. As I started out I always bought Manamune to fix his mana problems. I loved playing him and I pretty much never lost on him. I was totally new so I just built all AD on him all the time. Now that I look back I'm surprised that Glass Cannon Nasus could carry so hard.
Eventually I got bored of him and decided to move on. I stopped playing on him ever since I got to level 10 or so until today. I had never played AP Nasus ever, til today when I went to see some Nasus guides. I saw an AP Nasus guide in the top ten guides and I wondered to myself," Wow now that I think about it Nasus seemed to be a force to be reckoned with if built AP. I can't believe I never played him that way?!" So I went to try it out in a custom game and AP Nasus was fun!
His Siphoning Strike scales best off farm so AD isn't too important. It also scales off his total AD which has a 1.0 AD ratio. If you go AP Nasus you will be improving the damage on Spirit Fire and Fury of the Sands. With Lich Bane, each 1 point of AP will indirectly increase the damage of Siphoning Strike. AP items are also much cheaper than AD so it is very cost efficient. Only problem is that your normal AAs don't do as much damage without Siphoning Strike.
Building AP Nasus will also make his Fury of the Sands deal a lot of damage! Over time as long as the enemy stay near Nasus while his Fury of the Sands is active they will take up to 11% of their max health as magic damage(if they have no MR) EACH SECOND FOR 15 SECONDS!!! They will die in about 10 seconds just by standing next to Nasus during Fury of the Sands! Not only that but 6.375% of the damage dealt is turned into bonus AD. AND THERE'S NO CAP TO HOW MUCH BONUS AD Nasus CAN GAIN! The more minions and enemy champs there are the more damage Nasus will deal and gain as bonus AD!
The current top rated AP Nasus guide doesn't really work for me. So far my build for AP Nasus is this:
Boots+ 3 Health Potions-> kage's lucky pick-> catalyst the protector-> Ionian Boots of Lucidity-> Sheen-> Rod of Ages-> Chain Vest-> Chalice of Harmony-> Lich Bane-> Zhonya's Hourglass-> Athene's Unholy Grail-> Guardian Angel or Rabadon's Deathcap
I take 0/22/8 masteries:
Runes
Armor because I am solo top.
MR per level because even though I'm AP Nasus I still build somewhat tanky.
MSpeed Quints to make Nasus very mobile allowing him to get back to his lane faster, roam effectively after laning phase, and chase enemy champs since his Wither is single target and I have no items with slow procs.
As for skill order:
If the jungler ganks earlier then I'll take Wither at level 2 instead of Spirit Fire. Then because I'm AP Nasus I max Spirit Fire first. Siphoning Strike next because it will lower the cooldown allowing me to farm more and about half the damage AP Nasus does will rely on proccing Lich Bane with Siphoning Strike. Nasus's other abilities have relatively long cooldowns so maxing Siphoning Strike is important.
Well that's about it on how I play/plan on playing him. What are your builds/masteries/runes/opinions for AP Nasus?
