No, sadly not anymore. I will probably archive this guide I think as Deathfire Grasp nerf was too much, now he literally only is an ulti and a Lich Bane.

Gangplank really isn't viable as an AP carry, as funny as this is.

I'm gonna have to give you a downvote on this one.

don't hate me too much.

Personally I love testing new things and I am glad other people do too!
If you'd like you can check out my guide in the humour section ''Troll Builds Just 4 Fun Mostly Viable''.

Voted +1. Lol I don't even know if its just because Gangplank is OP or not, but i dominate every game at top using this (Ive never done AD). Ulti is good fun and destroys teams, ive gone positive and been a carry pretty much every game. Only thing ive been doing different is instead of void staff / GA ive been getting a rylais scepter or something else for more survival / damage. Nice guide anyway

This works altough I haven't tried it.
A lot of AP carries are known for their CC and with Gangplank, it won't be a problem laning against them but however I don't like your first build since you take a philisopher's stone to sell it later. Chalice of Harmony and tear of goddes are much better but however, since you are the AP carry, won't the jungler give you your team's blue buff?

Thanks for your reviews.

I noticed a few typos after rereading :P also I'm Australian so I spell scepter as sceptre >.>

I grab the philosopher's stone for the mana regen, as the mana regen allows you to spam farm with Parrrley and gives you extra gold too, so they synergise well.

I will alter build slightly soon, Cheers guys, Jayzorz.

PS. I feel ridiculous typing parrrley so often

I am a fan of unconventional builds. I like to see imagination combine with actual know-how and experience in order to make something viable. There are a few things I think you could improve on in your build to better help your unconventional build gain recognition. I have played AP Gangplank here and there to play with numbers since before they changed his Ultimate back in season 1. Hopefully my advice can be of help.

Your Mana regen seals ultimately only give you 2.05 mana regeneration per 5 seconds. Your Parrrley costs 50/55/60/65/70 mana each use on a base cool down of 5 seconds. If you last hit with it then it returns half of the mana cost. When harassing, your mana regen seals only return 4.1/3.72/3.42/3.15/2.93% of your used mana and twice the previous percentages per ability rank respectively when last hitting. Since the difference they make is mostly insignificant, I would suggest trading them out for Flat Armor, Flat MR, or Health per Level.

As I have seen another comment mention, most of AP Gangplank's damage remains PHYSICAL so Void Staff is not very cost-effective for him. You can improve your itemization while ALSO solving whatever mana issues you might feel you are having after trading mana regen seals by considering purchasing Athene's Unholy Grail. It gives him good CDR, mana regen for lane, MR, and AP. Gangplank is similar to Karthus or Ziggs in the idea that his Global Ult can help in other lanes and that CDR is a VERY important stat on him to get that Global Ult off more frequently. I can see that you do value CDR, but I feel Athene's would be a better source of CDR than other items because of its innate synergy with his kit when played as AP.

For the same reason that Void Staff is not cost effective, you might want to reconsider your masteries selections. Having the Magic Penetration mastery is fine since your Ult does do magic damage and is a significant portion of your overall damage in team fights. You might want to consider ALSO taking the armor penetration % mastery. The Havoc mastery points are pretty worthless mathematically speaking so that would be an easy 3 out of the 5 you would have to re-spec.

I like that you don't go for Rod of Ages, as AP GP relies on Remove Scurvy for his health sustain. Regular GP can't spam this ability to keep his health up because he does not have the mana sustain, but with an early Chalice this problem is easily solved. The amount you heal for with AP is ridiculous.

Lich Bane is obviously core on AP Gangplank, and although there is a negative stigma attached to rushing Lich Bane on most AP Carries, it could reap surprising awards on GP. There is heated debate on several forums as to how much AP you need to make Lich Bane do more damage than Sheen alone would have done. Lich Bane also gives you movement speed (a stat I see you value based on your quintessence runes selection), bonus mana for more lane sustain, obviously a decent chunk of AP, and one of the most valuable stats for Mid Lane: Magic Resistance. It is a good rush item to consider for certain situations. I personally prefer having Sorc. Shoes, Chalice, Kage's, and Lich Bane by mid game.

For runes, you get 8.5 magic pen from your reds which is good but you need to supplement them with 2 magic pen glyphs in order to hit 10 magic pen. This is important because +10 flat magic pen from runes combined with +20 flat magic pen from sorc shoes allows you to deal true damage to anyone with base MR.

If you change your itemization to include Athene's Unholy Grail, then you don't need CDR boots and can grab Sorc Shoes for the magic pen. Also, when you discuss your CDR boots you mention the Enlightenment mastery bu clearly do not spec for it in your guide.

You have a coding error by your Chalice discussion. Also a few grammar mistakes here and there, nothing too crucial. You just may want to read through it again or have a friend read through it for grammar editing or to double check for spelling mistakes.

I would suggest expanding your guide a little. For example, you could add a section detailing proper times to use your Ult, when to not get baited into putting it on Cool Down, etc.

I like the math you include regarding Cannon Barrage.

Overall a good start to this guide, just needs a tune up and refinement over time.

Yup, tried that before and it works very well in team fights while it sucks in lane cause they will Flash all the balls it :(

Also the ******* Ignites burn your oranges and makes them less tasty

Short and nice
