Less like Torchlight more like Diablo.
The Skill Tree and the Skill gems are what's most different to other Hack&Slays.
It's one giant Skill tree only consisting of passive effects and which is segmented into skills that fit to the 3 different main stats (Int,Str,Agi) or a combination of them.
The different classes only start at a different point in this tree fitting their stat layout.
The Skill gems you pick decide what skills you can use, therefore you need to find, transmute gear to have the appropriate amount of colored sockets.
You have to be clear what you want to play and what you therefore need before you pick a character!

ill probably pick this game up again too. I had been playing for a couple of months in open beta and really loved it. I have a couple level 70-80 characters on hardcore, stopped playing because i had noone to play with but with the addition of guilds now that probably won't be a problem.
I'll probably start off fresh on the Nemesis league so if anyone wants to level with me or wutever hit me up (though i probably wont be playing for another week or so)

I like things that make me feel stupid. - Ken Levine
I have a 46 archer if anyone wants to play (:
PoE isn't stupidly OP like Diablo 3 where you can boost someone to the main level in 3 hours. It's all grinding to 30-40 or whatever level it starts to become enjoyable.
If anybody wants me to help them with bosses, feel free to add me.

for those that don't know, path of exile is a f2p diablo clone. theres 7 classes, which only determine your starting stats and what stat paths are open for you initially on the skill tree. there are 3 stats, strength dexterity and intelligence. my character is a duelist which made him a str/dex character though i'm spending my points to move to dex/int
on top of that, all of the skills come as a gem that can be socketed into your equipment, and none of the skills are restricted by class or stats. having a skill gem socketed will grant it xp everytime you gain xp, allowing it to level and get stronger as you use it.

also, while the game is f2p there is a cash shop. however, only 2 of the cash items affect the game outside of cosmetics, the first is more character slots (default is 24) and the second is more tabs in your stash (shared amongst all your characters.) and theres 2 versions of the stash tabs, the default and the second kind which can be named colored and rearranged.
edit: we have a mobafire guild now. pm caucheka, jhoijhoi, or khazem for a guild invite.
